1. Raketen synergy too well with highly armored tank, you can make a dive followed by your raketen and retreat if it turns bad. Since Allied have low armor tank they'll almost always penetrate and require absolutely nothing else to do than attack move while your microing your tank.
The solution:
Its ability to camo or retreat are free. Other Atgun must pay to use their special abilities but OKW no, like if OKW were a munition usage heavy faction... but no.
Retreat as a powerful ability should be costly to reflect its usefulness, 50 munition per retreat would probably solve a big chunk of the -raketen blob into instant retreat- 100 or 150 munition to retreat your raketen would definitely force the player to use it more carefully.
I mean the M1 has to pay 30 munition to increase its penetration with 0 guarantee it will work, retreat always work there are no failure to retreat so putting it at 50 munition would be fair.

Us doctrines have always had the issue that they need to supplement base army due lacking specialised units. They have no rocket arty, heavy armour, elite infantry or more traditional arty. Player has to always balance around what of these he can afford as most doctrines only provide one of these, wrong choice will put usf in disadvantage in more ways that say ostheer do. Durable tank isn't the problem, lack of rocket arty is. In: COH2 Balance |

Highest penetration vs highest armor does already mean shit as argumentation. Now highest penetration requiring 30 munitions each minute vs highest armor that still bounce regularly means trash. You spend 30 minutions for nothing. M1 Atgun is great only vs USF because you don't need to worry about penetration. Once you have to fight OKW pz4 level of armor and bigger cats, your atgun is just a trash unit that requires you to dump 30 munitions in it to still see it not penetrating 1 shot every 3. Too bad that's a wrong assessment rending all your comparaison ridiculously stupid. Anyway, M1 is trash the moment you realize that even dumping 30 or 60 munition it still bounce regularly on panthers and higher armored units. M1 is the atgun you don't want but there nothing else available unless dumping 150 munition on rangers or waiting for the 145fuel jackson. In: COH2 Balance |

When I play USF, I rely heavily on the cpt to supervise and get stuff out fast. The idea is, USF can gain a significant advantage by dominating the early game. This sometimes works, sometimes not. Does anyone else here think that way, or is it generally better to go lt first ? The only think I can think of is having access to HMG and light armour earlier I guess, but then being constrained by "regular time", not "accelerated time". Its all come to snowballing effect. With lieutenant first you must snowball thus play aggressively. With captain you can play more passive. As said before it depends on the map and faction you're facing. Lieutenant is better vs OKW because they rely a lot on blobbing to overthrow you from a place. The HMG is nice to hold off and support your riflement in this purpose. HMG tend to be less effective vs grenadiers with their long range weapon and grenade and M20 and Stuart are more subject to be snared. The stuart is also better to poke OKW AAHT or Luch than US AAHT. Captain is better vs Ostheer because as you said they get their medium first so an Atgun is always welcome to temporize till your sherman roll in and AAHT is definitively better vs the 222 and to suppress from afar grens/pzgrens. The pakH is also a good investment vs Ostheer more static way of playing. Now if you're confident in your micro and by this I mean Light vehicle micro, you must pick the lieutenant first. A well use M20 is an absolute nightmare to deal with as Ostheer, once vetted you'll pick regularly and fast 1 model from 4men squad grens or pzgren and then let your rifle finish the job forcing early retreat. The M20 gives you free tech smoke and is best to flank lonely HMG. Then The stuart is just there to assist and keep the 222 away. With this strat you should be bleeding your opponent hard enough to delay him in his tech to his first Pz4. Evidently, to gain confidence in microing your LVs, you must learn it first the hard way, no other solutions. |

And with a sniper behind, how do they work? Those vacuum tests Ostruppen vs other mainline infantry aren't taking in account that Ostheer is already starting with an HMG at T0, pioner with superior vision range and T1 including a sniper all of that more accessible with Ostruppen cheap price and more effective with their staying power. Not to mention fast Pzgren that will destroy any infantry on the field at all ranges at 4 minutes mark with the early capping power provided by Ostruppen. In: COH2 Balance |

Suspect? There is nothing that tells you a 221 is coming. The same way as OKW you don't build a RW before seeing the M3 because that a waste of 270 manpower if your facing a Conscript or T2 start. Atgun and HMG don't work the same way, if your 221 is already 1/2 damage an ATG is just going to finish the job if you goes into its arc of fire, not an HMG even if you cruz its arc of fire for a couple of seconds that's not going to be enough to lose your 221. Lol, you don't build an atgun that early if you don't see a potential threat, nobody is going to build a M1 so early in the game before your 221 hit the field. Then losing a 221 to a HMG requires a severe lack of awareness or keeping you 221 already severly damage on the frontline for too long. I've seen plenty of OKW players rushing the 221 on USF because they know USF is helpless for some time vs it. Now I'm not saying actually 221 isn't balanced, but it can't reasonably be buffed without breaking the balance. In: COH2 Balance |
