I think it's rather indicative that a reduction in received damage from the p4 command aura is equivalent to a 5th member.
And it indicates how it is a problem. |
This might be a bit off topic but I also find it peculiar that they decided to shift the smoke off riflemen because it was deemed so effective at among other things forcing support weapons to relocate and not be effective. The whole point of the US mortar is to do that so why remove the smoke first before even considering the removal of clutch solution USF mortar instead if the rifle smoke was deemed sufficient (and some say OP) in high level play.
Also I'm not so sure how the patches have reflected the original intention of regarding Ostheer as the "Gold Standard" faction. Is 222 a gold standard of light vehicles? How about turbomortars or pinpoint ground attack accuracy brummbars. If it was the idea to lessen the impact of skill planes by nerfing the gold standard Stuka AT strafes isn't it a bit contradicting to buff other non-gold standard skillplanes on the same patch.
(As for the Pershing I don't mind it at all, it's pretty rare nowadays but I don't think its addition to the game was needed or considered critical in any way)
The need of Mortar was more at gameplay level, literally how to diversify USF early game. At that time the faction was considered as the more boring to play because of this lack of diversity.
The Pershing doesn't bring balance, it brings here again diversity in gameplay, they haven't make it heavy in fact.
Removing smoke from riflemen is, in my opinion a failure, nobody is going to pay to use smoke on RE or with his officers. But the bitching around it was heavy and I suspect the mod team did it to release some pressure from their shoulders with the Axisfolks.

Hi,
the following is my honest opinion. I want to have a constructive discussion about it since this is honestly how I feel about the state of the game currently. That being said feel free to ignore the obvious forum trolls answers (not calling his name).
The Axis factions do not stand a chance on an equal skill footing in 2vs2s (Brits excluded). The US and especially Soviets are overperforming.
Both Axis factions lack in most of the relevant aspects of the game.
1) Infantry: Double BARs and/ or Guards eat any infantry the Axis can muster. Even when going Jäger Inf, the US and Soviets hold an infantry advantage.
2) Support weapons:
- Maxim spam is destroying a lot of games.
3) Tank destroyers:
- 60 range TDs for Soviets and US dominate the lategame.
- Su 76 spam has reached levels where Panzer IVs lose their purpose.
4) Abilities:
- The IL-2 skillplane has become meta.
5) Other:
- Two men sniper squads also are a common annoyance in 2vs2 and kill games.
In short: The Allies can easily swarm the Axis factions with infantry, TDs keep any tank at bay and this synergy is hardly counterable for the Axis. To me it seems there is no aspect of the game Axis aren't being outperformed by the Allies.
I can't be the only one seeing a problem here.
Haven't we just be witnessing a 2vs2 tournament last night where Axis dominated all matches independently of the team playing them? |
It really blow my mind how low CPM's player I am, like average of 30 CPM on my replays. I was checking some replay I have and some time my opponent are around 70/80 CPM.
I'm probably too low on CPM, I know that already I probably need reach something like 50. |
White Phosophorus barrage is just awesome, cheap 120 or 130 munitions (don't remember exactly) and fast landing, your opponent has to insta-click retreat button to not suffer from it. Use it to assault a location with your men, nothing will stand in it and you be able to finish of any squad with your shermans
As I say it forces retreat, your opponent cannot relocate a HMG/Mortar/pak that would be in the center of the barrage without losing at least half of its life and being slowed by the phosphorus effect.
As ClassyDavid, my actual favored doctrine is Airborn at the moment, I use it with T2 Captain. The main cons of this doctrine are MP heavy and lack of off-map indirect fire to clean/deny an area.

A solution where all tank still damage higher tech vehicle will only lead to spamming of low tier vehicles since their will be little reason to tech higher.
If a t70 can damage a KT or a luch a IS-2 with every shot frontally there would little reason to built anything else.
One should probably lower the lethality of super heavy tanks but keep damage consisted while making TDs less effective especially vs lower tier units.
Wut? do you really think massing T70 would counter a KT? Massing T34-76 yes since it is the purpose of that change but I don't expect T70 or Stuart doing more than today.
But to cut short this discussion, it is not about thinking what an actual T70 would do but how to modify any damage/armor relationship for any vehicle. |
In think that for the next iteration of Coh, Relic really need to modify the Armor role for his game.
Tank Armor role should be more about damage reduction than damage countered. Coh2 has reached a point were TDs are the predominant tanks in game.
In my opinion, all issues related with the panther, tiger, IS-2 or King Tiger etc… is that their high armor value make them almost impossible to fight with regular medium tanks. So players simply don't build medium tanks and focus on tank destroyers.
When I play the game, I like building army of medium tanks Sherman, T34 or Pz4, but the simple fact that they can’t face the next level of tanks make them mostly useless past a certain time, they simply don’t cut it in late game. In opposition, medium tank destroyers such as SU-76, jpz4 or stugs keep their usefulness all the game long because they can still pen those big cats.
I think that if armor value was a chance to reduce damage instead of not getting damaged at all medium tanks would still have a place in late game. With that, the imperative need of massing pure tank destroyers would go down, relegated to their principal function, supporting from behind your medium tanks. They could go back to what they supposed to be, glass canon, helpless if rushed.
So any medium tank would always deal damage to biggest tank, the odds would simply decide if you get a “critical” hit that deal 100% damage or a defection damage ratio of the tank.
With this solution, all Tank Destroyers could be relegated to an expensive late game unit kind like the elefant, something that do pen other tank almost always but limited to one per player (Jackson, SU-85, FF, Panthers).
Medium tank destroyer could see their price and popcap increasing so they become less spammable (to jpz4 level for instance) so all the gameplay would evolve around tank play and not only tank destroyer play. |

Due to player complaint and outcry.
- Blizzard removed. Losing model due to blizzard was wrong, something that would have reduce model to half-life would have make more sense gameplay wise
- Mud maps removed.
- Heavy Rain removed.
- Night removed.
Anything different from cOH1 was the enemy.
There you have it.
Welcome to COH2 T'is is a great website when looking for help.
- Blizzard removed. Losing model due to blizzard was so wrong, something that would have modify unit stat such as accuracy or recieved accuracy would have make more sense gameplay wise + reducing vision.
- Mud maps removed. Seeing the poor pathing design, Mud isn't the true issue here, but when you have some in front of your base and you need every time to micro your troops to get out of it is dumb. It also gives advantage to defensive faction, youhou free mud to cover my flank and also having some units naturally immune to it and other faction that can't even have an upgrade to get immune was dumb.
- Heavy Rain removed.
- Night removed. |
I don't know how you want to make the panther more available and better at the same time.
Or you make it more available, an EZ8/T34-85 clone for Ostheer and it will be countered by all TDs even more than today.
Or you make it better than it is today and this will come at a highiest price for the unit.
I'm not against any of those solutions in fact, but I'm not sure it will be suitable for Ostheer. |
Hans made a mistake, Let's hope he learnt from it and everyone as well. Is is necessary to go any further? |
