Probably won't happen since DoW3 bled money but I really liked the Dawn of War franchise especially Dow2 retribution.
From what I understand: Games Workshop does a licensing scheme based on expected revenue. Since Dow3 flopped so hard, they probably paid more money in licensing fees than made money from selling the game.
Anyway, I hope they remake Dow2 in some way shape or form or even remake Dow1. They were both dope. |
Since HMG spam isn't an issue anymore maybe Pio vision can get a nerf?
Also I thought there were no more patches left for Coh2. |
Is there a way to block users so I don't have to see their posts? |
Because according to statistics, eSports is about 10% of the game's audience. And reworking the game so that these 10% would be comfortable to play without thinking that other people can lose fun in the game is a very bad idea. That's why I don't like all the esports hype and balancing around the esports mode. For eSports, there should be a separate game mode.
Thats the best case scenario. I've been saying for a long time that hyper-balance focused esports should be its own workshop mod so everyone else doesn't have to suffer from bland/boring units. I enjoyed the flavour that Coh2 used to have /sigh |
Cool video, I definitely agree that custom content would make or break an RTS.
I think he had an interesting point in that an extreme focus on esports puts players off. I think the last 2 years of Coh2 is a good example of that. I've gone on a rant on it too many times so its nice to see someone that agrees. Hope Coh3 doesn't go the same way. |

The Pershing is basically a pre-nerf Panther that you can buy for 230 fuel which is around the same fuel cost as other heavies like Tiger and IS-2. Except it has medium levels of armour and movement so like a Panther. Unlike the Panther, its main gun is good against infantry.
I guess when the commander was being designed, someone thought having pre-nerf Jackson behind Panther level of armour would be OP and they were probably correct. After so many Jackson nerfs, Pershing doesn't really have the synergy its supposed to. Yes it can fire twice in quick succession from its skill shot but its not supposed to fight tanks 1v1 anyway. Its not great like tulip rocket effective. Yes it can benefit from combine arms but to balance over an ability that is rarely ever used is dumb. Abilities should be powerful when used to force people to retreat when they are used (like a plane loiter).
Overall, Pershing is a unit that you get when you're ahead and you want to stay ahead. It doesn't turn the tide like a Tiger or KT. I think in part due to so many changes to the faction that left Pershing behind.

I have been playing OKW since its release.
STurmtiger was never as bad as this forum claims to have been, and never was "the gold standard" of unbalancing.
It was just intimidating because 95% people here play only with superupgraded blobs and 0 depth strategy. Then sure, Sturmtiger can wreck you badly. Other than that, it's a literal case mate which can only shoot once and then it must reload for 30+ secs. 1 Medium tank, 1 ATG + 2 snares is all it takes to go down the gutter. Also, its cost makes you skip the P4J, which many times is wrong.
And to further prove my point: what did balance team did to """fix""" Sturmtiger? They made it just a tad costlier and moved it a tad in CP (so as to give the allies some time to get an ATG I suppose) and also disallowed it to upgrade and throw gren. Not a single stat change.
They made it so that the Sturmtiger doesn't decrew if you get hit while reloading and making the projectile a lot more reliable.
Who would've thunk that sturmtiger without the downsides would be OP /s |
I always liked the earlier CoH2. Yes, it was sometimes just broken and here on the forum there was a lot of controversy about it, but the game was much more interesting, livelier and more intense, 0-1 matches were not uncommon. And now the game has become very tasteless. Sometimes balance and fun and enjoyment of the game are opposites.

Unpopular opinion: I enjoyed this game more when Relic balanced the game rather than the community balance team.
That being said however, I would have still rathered the community balance team take over than the game being abandoned like Dawn of War 2.
The community balance patches kept the game fresh but I felt they were without vision and full of compromises which made the game worse. Relic patches felt more of a league of legends styled balancing. Units that were previously unused got buffed leading to a new meta. Units overused got nerfed.
A lot of the community changes felt very Axis favoured too. Removing IL-2 from some popular commanders without adding it to any others nerfed Soviets pretty hard. Meanwhile the replacement change on the elefant was OP as all heck and much better than the one it replaced while the Soviet one was useless. This persisted through an entire patch. No hotfixes to nerf it. Prototype changes happening on Axis before hitting Allies was a huge bummer too. Allied armies had to wait another patch before prototype changes applied to their armies. Like Half-Track healing and Sturmtiger buff.
Some of the innocuous changes seemed to favour Axis more rather than Allies. Like MG squad members branching out for vision. Axis has better MGs so this benefits them more. MG retreat no longer deathlooping is not equal either. MG34/42 and Vickers will teleport to random members instead of having a member having to go pick it up. This makes it hard to chase when its retreating especially when one retreating squad member is ahead of the rest, the MG will teleport to them. Maxim and M2HB though? The one carrying the MG will always run in a very predictable line, very easy to focus fire and block. Speaking of Maxim, its expensive garbage because of the community balance team.
Overall, team games was a lot more fun back then than it is now. I wish Relic would revert all the community balance changes and go back to the last Relic patch.
My form of protest: Don't support any 1v1 content. Don't watch it on Youtube, don't talk about it, don't share it, don't sub to those Youtubers. That's what I do to protest. 1v1s balancing ruined team games. This game doesn't need an esports scene, just balance it to keep it fresh instead of boring as it is now.
Sure the game might have more players now than before but that was because they gave the game away for free a couple times. |
