They are fine, They deal high damage, can repair, LAYS DEMOS (Wehr and OKW dosen't even get anything equivalent) and can lay crap mines. One of the better things in that doctrine.
Really that doctrine is pretty good aside from the M10

Mortars are generally better than both.
They:
-Tend to be more accurate
-Can retreat
-Cost way less
-Soviet one can precision shot
-Vet faster
-Don't get de-crewed at 2 men (Pack howie)
-Hit the field earlier
God forbid you can't get the best at weapon on your cheap nigh invincible infantry.
And here lies the problem;
Vet 1: -10% received accuracy
Vet 3: -10% received accuracy Healing when out of combat
Vet 5: -29% received accuracy
Vet 5 volks have near -50% received accuracy, on top of a squad that has 1 Shreck.
If volks loose the shreck however there will be no reason to build them over sturmpios.
Adjusting the vet is the way to go, While Panzergrens have dual Shrecks they are very vulnerable
T-34 can do a lot of damage to them.
In the end just make volks more vulnerable to fire 49% is a insane bonus.
It wouldn't matter. If not recon plane + stuka it will be recon pass + stuka or, recon + CAS AT strafe,
or recon pass + light arti. Not to mention that in team games almost always someone rolls a recon.
Flare is particularly potent.
Maybe conscripts' PPSH should be reworked to be more of an ability. Under normal conditions using semi auto, doing normal damage. Then activating the ability (free, long recharge) they put out massive amounts of DPS at very close range for 2-3 seconds emptying their magazines.
So they would still impose a threat to elite infantry in late game if well microd into position.

This interests me as my profession is a gunsmith, And there is a small problem with this logic:
If you do that for a SMG that fires a pistol cartridge (PPSH in this case, By the way why is there no PPS in this game?) Then the StG-44 that fires a intermediate rifle cartridge should be select fire as well.
As that was the point of the design of modern intermediate cartridge rifles-
To have controllable full auto fire at close range and rifle like damage and accuracy at 0-300 yards.
Were as a SMG's max effective range under most circumstances is in the range 100 yards max realistically.
As for con's having LMG's i can't really comment one way or another,
If they were to get them i would say after T3-T4 is built.
As far as Relic's "Design" goes they have said that con's were not meant to scale into the late game.
I am unsure if this is still there philosophy regarding cons.
