I was under the impression that all these new units for the expansion won't be available for competitive multiplayer...at least that's what a number of people like Katitof keep saying. If they do make it to multiplayer then I pray to Richard the Lionheart that they'll have completely new voice lines, instead of copy-pasting from Rifles or RE's. |
I voted yes but I think a lot of the uniforms(For Germany anyways) are fairly well done for the most part. The Obersoldatens have the same uniform, rank collar badges as their Waffen-SS real life equivalents, but my only major complaint is the Sturm Officer. A lot of people convinced me that the Sturm Officer was basically a Waffen SS officer, when in fact it isn't. Granted, Relic wouldn't actually call him an SS Officer as the unit title, but they completely screwed up on the uniform.
We know the Obersoldatens are Waffen SS because of the clear insignia on their collars and their uniform, but for the Sturm Officer, he has Wehrmacht rankings, which means various people on this site lied to me. I'm hoping down the line a modder(Or I'll actually take the effort to do it myself) can make the Sturm Officer an actual Waffen SS officer instead of the Wehrmacht officer we have now.
I do have to commend Relic for their designs on the Volksgrenadiers and Obersoldatens though, since I find them to well done for the most part with very few errors.

It's actually too bad that Rangers and these Cavalry Rifles won't be available in competitive multiplayer since I would actually play the US a lot more. This is assuming Relic doesn't do a half-ass job like they did with the Stormtroopers(Same exact voice as the Jaeger Light Infantry), because if they do then I wouldn't be interested in the least bit. |
Look at my playercard, I know how to play so that it isn't the problem. It's either RNG(Unlikely) or balance issues pertaining to certain units such as the Obersoldaten. |
Too many variables to give a precise answer(Skill level of the players in question, map, unit composition and etc). I can say though that comebacks as the OKW are very rare for me. As the game progresses, I usually find myself in a position where fending off the hordes of Americans and Russians isn't possible and I lose solely because of the lack of bodies, AT and etc.
I imagine in lower skilled games, the Allied players make glaring mistakes, so combine that with bad micro and strategic insight, it's no surprise that a lot of Allied players lose during late game. |
Yes, I provided evidence(Anecdotal evidence to be precise) where I proved that 2 vetted Obersoldaten squads couldn't defeat 3 rifle squads. The Obersoldatens are supposed to be the best infantry in the game, but they got taken out by American rifles.....it doesn't make any sense which is why i'm trying to figure out if that was an anomaly or if Relic intended these nerfs to the Obersoldaten. |
I've noticed that the US has retained most if its firepower(Priest artillery squad wiping left and right, rifles just decimating Germans at early and mid game, and etc) but the one thing that has caught my eye is the performance of the Obersoldaten and Volksgrenadier. Both of these units seem to perform worse in this patch which is bad, since I considered them underpowered in the previous patch. I had a match earlier where 3 rifle squads defeated my 2 Obersoldatens that had veterency....might've been an anomaly but i'm not sure. |
I did a bit of testing with the new patch, and I've found out that the Obersoldatens aren't the killing machines the Allied fanboys make them out to be. I played a few matches where I had a few Obersoldaten squads behind cover, and they were facing off against 3 rifles with BARS. Needless to say, the rifles defeated my Obersoldatens, so i'm very curious as to where these people get these delusions that Obersoldatens melt both cover and infantry. Granted, this is anecdotal evidence but it helps establish a clearer picture; the Obersoldatens aren't OP but rather UP so hopefully Relic will buff them next patch so OKW can be viable in a 2v2 setting.

I don't see the problem here. God forbid you actually have to micro a bit more, instead of being given ample time to walk away from a grenade. I've played a good 5 matches I think with the new patch, and I've never lost a unit because of grenades, but maybe that's because I can micro. Understandably, for those people who can't micro, they'll most likely have a bad time with grenades but such is the way of competitive rts games. |
Lol, you want more firepower when you already have the Priest "Godlike" artillery unit, rifles with Bars and LMG upgrades that trump anything the Germans can throw at them barring the Obersoldatens, and finally Shermans that can squad wipe easily.
No, the US doesn't need anymore firepower since they already have enough. |
