Yeah stug is good, i usually get a P4 first, for general armor support. then either another P4 or a Stug followed by another P4...
I find stugs work best when supporting armor advances such as the P4. |
I like the Ost purely because of the sniper. I just have fun challenging myself to get to 50 kills... or 100 kills in a 2v2 with it...
In a 2v2 its not too bad in combination with a OKW player. But vs USF it is pretty cancer...
And to be honest... all allied factions currently outmatch the Ostheer early game except maybe the british (but their double LMG's make up for it).
Alot of people have issues with the USF mortar... and i agree... infact its the only way i ever seem to lose squads in a scenario where...
Full HP 4 man gren squad, in heavy cover, fighting a rifle squad out of cover... BOOM mortar shell hits, 2 grens dead, other two at 2% hp gunned down by the rifles on retreat.
So yeah as much BS the USF mortar is, i think theres another unit thats actually worse and often overlooked...
PENALS!
These Mother F**kers are currently insane... Since their rifle accuracy buff, (which they didnt need) they have just become totally mental in the early game. You CANNOT stand behind cover, or they will microwave you with the flame thrower, and if you stand in the open, they will just gun you down. Then going either guards or AT partisans (which seems to be a new meta with sov reserve army)... Just gives them map control and early AT to get rid of any ostheer counter such as a 222 or FHT. |
Imo... USF Mortar should be removed.... Pwerfer should be swapped with the Ostwind and Pgrens should be 5 man squads, so they can actually assault. (with a cost increase if need be, theyre still gonna get rekt by penals with a flamethrower )
Oh and while we're at it, allies restricted to 1 LMG per squad... |
Seen more reports since of people having significant difficulty with multiplayer, but whatever it is is not ffecting everyone.
We've had some experiences with crashing on it quite alot. But its not that bad... for a $20 game in alpha its more stable than Coh2
I think the main issue for me is faction balance. Ukraine is insanely powerful... And Turkey/Algeria cannot keep up late game when 18th cent hits. Starting to get abit stale playing as some of these for them reasons.

but you still have 800gold and 1000 coal which are unused
(Tho I hate any manipulation of resoursec and I think markets should be removed)
Better to save as much gold as u can for research and upgrades.
If you do it right, as soon as ur mill produces a field of harvest you can just loop build peasants from 2 town center's and not have to worry about it.
Yeah you guys will need to explain this all to me It just looked like AoE to me which i'm cool with but some basic teching idea would be lovely.
I have to say on a first glance of other people streaming it I think it looks a bit messy and crowded.
Fancy playing with me and Fortune sometime? |
Make a Market and trade all coal and most gold for food in the beggining to spam workers faster.
I will try to be there What time do you start?
Quicker and cheaper to just get the mill upgrade, then with 5 workers on the field you can spam constantly |
I'm going to be streaming Cossacks 3 tomorrow and i've never played any of the games before. If anyone could stop by the channel and give me some quick start up tips i'd appreciate that
Lots of food, first upgrade on the mill, get a 2nd town center ASAP and just spam workers onto wood/stone. Pretty much the typical start up for all factions....
Oh and make sure you protect your shit with troops, otherwise enemies can just walk in and capture everything. |
snip
Myself and Fortune have been playing this quite alot. Its alot of fun, we're getting pretty good at it, although it is a little buggy atm and some factions are just insanely good |
Vs the Soviets, the panther wasnt bad, still isnt to be honest because its speed allows it to out-maneuver the slow turning SU-85.
However...
The ostheer panther was designed only with soviets in mind in terms of balance...
The USF and UKF both have tanks that are better, and in some case alot cheaper to tech to. + when you add silly things like Tulip rockets... i mean, panther really has no chance and is more of a waste of fuel.
But there is a few things that make axis armor underwhelming...
- Tulips (the stun is actually better than the extra damage they used to do).
- USF tank crews (keeps their tanks in the fight alot easier)
- Jackson range +AP
- Firefly range +AP
- Silly amount of artillery options (that negate weaponteams leaving armor unsupported)
- Guard button
- AT partisans (seems to be abit of a meta, if you know your enemy has them yeah u can burn down buildings, but still Axis dont have the option to pop out behind a retreating tank and wipe it out.)
- Comet speed - How much faster than a panther they are, and how they can quite easily run a panther down with no real risk to itself.
- Shit repair speed of pioneers.
- and finally the mother of all cheese.... Marked Target. (that even continues after you shoot the bloody aircraft down....)
I get the Jackson and firefly are dedicated tank destroyers, and should have such a high range and AP, but im not sure about the idea of them being able to 4 shot such an expensive tank and penetrating nearly every time, Same goes for the tiger to be honest. I think panther and tiger frontal armor is just too low... especially when having to deal with these high caliber tank destroyers which are cheaper to tech to than the panther, and have a much higher field presence.
Imo ud be better off with a StuG and a P4 for the same price of a panther + the cost to tech to it.
Panthers AND tigers should be an issue for the enemy.... yet its more of a "Lol look what they wasted their fuel on". - Fires tulips, either supports FF with an AT gun or just charges a comet behind it = Dead panther/tiger.
And before people say "you need to support them with Paks or shreks thats why"... two words.... Land Mattress...

OP, you should think of the fact that if you are ranked around 1000 there is a 1000 of other teams that are able to deal with allies, mainly becouse they are better at axis, but also at the game overall. So it's doesn't proove any imballance in any way.
Used to be in the top 100, for axis 2v2AT, until the dark ages of the ISU152 cheese. Since then its not really recovered lol.
I think the issue at the minute though is early game allied infantry is just too good. Especially when you think of things like... ostheer, is a static faction (grens need to be stood still to fire the lmg, and they rely on MG42 to stop the Rifle/penal horde which can just A+move at you.) So when they give the USF a mortar thats super accurate... suddenly standing still (the only way Ostheer do damage) is suicide.
Its only one of many factors but its a good example on how fucked the balance currently is. |
