This makes sense, i'm loving it.

Also i would suggest some small increase in payload - like 5/10 fuel, if it stays in state it's now.

This suggestion is far from a small change, you basically want it to be used as front line spearhead unit.

What is up with these rage threads asking to nerf the least used axis abilities/units lately?

Valentine pays 90 fuel for this wallhack, when okw gets it almost for free by stock.

Doesnt Valentine give you 360 degree detection while the IR HT gives a little band in a 90 degree cone?

And i think both have gamebreaking issues with suppression (correct me but i don't think they fix it)

Unit would make perfect sense in Overwatch Doctrine. Not sure if it needs to be part of the core army. Would much rather have a regular 250 or 251 halftrack.

+1 to 251 ht for OKW and I also like the OP's idea.

45 times bigger fuel cost, twice more degree detection.

is the IR halftrack still broken? ( You can see some units on the minimap, without using the search light)

Yes. Occasionally some units bug out and become permanently visible. I've had this happen to me some weeks ago, and I don't know what exactly causes it.

This thread is perfect example of peoples lack of objectivity. Choosing one particular modest special item from a faction and saying its not fair cos the other factions don't get it, at least not as cheap (valentine - a TANK!!!) or as invulnerable to AA (Brits free recon - covering almost entire map). Ir-ht OP? Get a grip guys.

Situational at most. Don't know if change is needed, I barely ever use it.

I'd like it to start off with a normal search light that doesn't see through buildings, walls and trees, but still greatly increases your normal sight to where ever it is pointing. Then it can be upgraded to the IR version for 90 munitions.

There's 2 bugs with the IR HT.

One were you can make the beam stay on a single direction (although it's unreliable to put it on the direction you want) and the other is the one you describe.

Permanent spots happens when suppression is involved while the beam is on top of the units. I'm not sure if you just need the beam to pass when enemy units are affected by suppression or retreat while suppressed/beamed.

OKW should have a stock unit that can cloak and cease fire so it can walk around the map to scout and totally ambush tanks. And it should be able to cap while cloaked. It be neat if it were put on, I dunno, the Raketen or something.

And infrared is line of sight, not omnipresent radar. But hey, in reality land the .50 cal would smoke all light armor, too.

There is also a bug where the receiving end will not see that they are being scanned.
