recoup losses could work but I love the idea of the 20mm flak gun, no way we'll see it though. Hotchkiss? I miss my Hotchkiss

just copy some OH units or abillites over to OKW for the full unique faction feeling. like they did with the pak 43, ostwind, panther, p4,

A command tank maybe?

no copying of units. they should try to make commanders unique not a remix of abillites.

It looks like the community can't reach an agreement on this issue. Maybe Relic should have given us a short list of, let's say, just three of four options.

They could finally make the Flak 88 and add it to both doctrines! :P
It would actually suit the theme of both Luftwaffe Ground Forces and Fortifications (remember, the CoH 1 Panzerelite Luftwaffe Doctrine had the 88).

For Luftwaffe those air-dropped mines like CoH 1 PE had it could be cool, too, because they were badass.

Then again, the Week 3 Balance Preview Update says:
The MG42 HMG Team from the Fortified and Luftwaffe Ground Forces Doctrine will be replaced with another existing Commander ability.

SD-2 Butterfly Bombs would be really nice and also 88. Infact - the complete Luftwaffe Doctrine from CoH1 was so much cooler compared to the CoH2 doctrine. Henschel Loiter, FlaK 88, Wirbelwind, Flakvierling (that was usefull compared to the current one) and so on.

I like the idea with Commanders, but the Doctrines from CoH1 were more well rounded. If you could choose a Doctrine (e.g. Luftwaffe) you should have some basics and than be able to choose from different Luftwaffe Commanders. One focusing on Air support (like CAS Commander) or one more on defensive like Luftwaffe Ground forces with 88, Luftwwaffe Ground Force squad etc. a support Luftwaffe Commander would have Wirbelwind and SD2 Butterfly Bombs...
You just set the emphasizes on different points.

Ostwind is almost pure AI DPS. Wirbelwind could be an armored suppression platform that suppresses even on the move. Like a Flak HT on steroids.

it doesn't have to be a pIV command tank, the panther is an obvious choice but I would be dubious about adding it since it is already in 1 of the vanilla commanders, a recon sweep or another passive ability I think we will see

Just messing around with the game files mit seems you can tweak units so they could support hull down.

Remove shreck from Sturm and keep pzfaust for Volks. Then put shreck CP1 or 2 on Sturm.
Or the other way around.
Keep the shrecks on Sturm and add CP1 or 2 pzfaust on Volks.

223 scout car to lock down sectors? OKW doesn't have caches or any lockdown capabilities.

Hull Down for Fortifications

Butterfly Para-Bombfield for Luftwaffe

We already have the USF version in the Ardennes campaign, just slap a OKW skin on it and ship it out.

Well OKW and Ostheer were both Wehrmacht factions from the same country, so crossover is not implausible nor unrealistic.

I wish the the Wirbelwind was Ostheer's stock unit, and the Ostwind was the fancy doctrine unit.

However, its boring and creates question of "why 2 factions" in the first place if they are to share 50% of units and abilities.

Preview OKW is enough of stronger ost copy as it is, it doesn't need t be more ost then ost is.

I think what you don't realize is that the ostwind was a direct successor to the wirbelwind.

Your point being..? That it shouldn't be used by OKW, since OKW is flavored as the later version of Ostheer?

We're not confined to history that much. It being a armored mobile suppression platform in gameplay terms is entirely plausible with regards to historical facts and vehicle weapon specifications.

Sure, there is some role overlap with FlaK HT, but that can only fire when stationary and is quite squishy.
