1. CPU i5 4690 (up to 3,9 GhZ) - Usual Harddrive (non SSD) - 8GB Ram - Geforce GTX 970.

2. Everything on highest settings. 1080p

3. Flame artillery or smoke barrages bring my FPS down to about 10.

This is simply bullshit.
Do not try to optimize your PC to run CoH2. It's not possible because some hardware runs better and some worse for no reasons.

Take a game like Fallout 4 or Battlefield 4. If you can run these games, you have a good PC.
If you can run CoH2 smoothly, you're just a lucky guy.

Laptop.

8GB ram
i7 4270 HQ 2,5GHz
GTX 960M
Win10.

Battlefield - high.
Battlefront - medium/high.
TES Online - high.

No drops even when there is some huge explosion.

CoH2 - medium. 2v2 is quite decent. 3v3 and 4v4 unplayable after 40min.

I must be lucky as my 570 and then 970 run any size of game no problems for any length. Hard to know why why cpu is quite old but has a heavy overclock i5 760@3.8ghz.

Disagree that you need 12gb to run it BUT i do start to have memory issues after several games particularly if I leave chrome open with only 8gb because of memory leak I guess.

i7-5930K
16GB
R9 290x Oc'd
Installed on an SSD
Win 7 / 10

2560 x 1440, All at max except AA is @ Med, Physics @ Med.

2's is very smooth for me, 3+ is generally smooth except when there isn't a ton of stuff happening

Also, check your RAM usage with COH 2 opened, uses at least 7gb of RAM. If you have less than 12 ure fkd...

I've never had ram go over 10GB total usage (with 4GB ~ at idle)

I would recommend a 390 / 970 if wanting high settings @ 1080p or 1440p. I think AMD tends to fair better in COH2.

RIght now I'm running AMD 9370 FXII (4,4 8 core), MSI 970 4GB, 16 Gigs of Ram, asus crosshair v formula-z

ALL the other games works great, all maxed Fallout 4 - Smooth 60 fps
BF4, all maxed smooth 60 fps

The only issue I have with my pc is the motherboard and that eats a shit ton of performance, CPU eats 220W of power and my motherboard can give 125W :guyokay:

Upgrading that in a while tho

But for coh2, the CPU power output becomes a problem most likely, medium settings and the fps drops to 30 in the late game OpieOP

I5 3570K
AMD R9 290x
Playing on 4K max setting except AA OFF (no need at 4K)
Smooth play with +40 fps except flames on the ground scenes (like when kv8 is fighting) which drops to 20fps

I have i5-2500k@4,4GHz, ddr3 16GB 1,6GHz, SSD 256GB, GTX 760, 1080p one monitor. In 1v1s I use maxed setting, just AA is turned off in game and turned on max in GPU settings (the one in game is buggy). In team games flames can lower the fps so I usually lower settings to high.

BTW as you can see in this thread guys who struggle with the game optimisation always have 8gb of ram. Anything more than medium settings needs more in coh2, especially if you also want to run browser, AV, music player, CELO, VoIP apps, mail client and/or other stuff in the background. Good that you have 16GB and as you have that much of it you dont need to bother.

Hey there,

CoH2 is the most demanding/poorly-optimized game that I own. I need a new GPU but no idea what to get.

If you could take a minute to reply I'd really appreciate it. :)

I read some reviews/benchmarks for CoH2 but they were outdated, they certainly won't include relevant info from the last few patches performance wise - Plus, some say CoH2 favors nvidia cards. I don't know about that.

So, let's ask the community themselves.

If you'd like to, please post:

1. Your PC specs.

Here are mine: CPU i5 3570k (stock 3.4ghz, OC up to 4.2ghz) + 240gb SSD + 16gb DDR3

2. Do you run the game at 1080p ? Medium? High? Highest settings?

3. Any issues? Can it handle 2v2/3v3/4v4?

I'd be really thankful for any helpful replies guys.

Cheers,
Nick

There is almost no PC under $2500 that will be able to run this game well (the graphic card taking around $600-$1000 of that total)

I bought a Geforce 980 GTX ($600) for CoH2 (second best card at the time under the GTX 980 TITAN ($1000), with my i7 3770k, 16 gbs of RAM and the game rapes your PC. I will have 80 FPS during the start but once the game continues this poorly-optimized game will bring me down to roughly 30-40 FPS.

While BF4 or Star wars Battle Front i'm running at 150-180 FPS.

I will say though. RAM is one of the most important performance things with this game, 8 gbs of RAM will NOT cut it, you need at least 12-16 (more is better) to run smoothly. CoH2 takes up around 8gbs of ram itself without anything running in the background.

OH and i'm MAXED on everything (I only turn off vsync)

I have a beastly 2 980gtx Sli, I7 4790, 16 DDR ram and 256 SSD (coh2 on it).

Game is poorly optimized, i play on 2560 x 1440p, and not on all on max cuz the FPS on team games varies from 60 to 30.

If there is snow and late game artys will stay at 45-30.

that's weird I running at the same resolution maxed out on an i7 4770 and a gtx 780 and get around 45 fps.

That's the thing, people with almost same rigs have different performances.
People with high end rigs have problems.
People with old rigs have no problems.

The game has the shittiest poorest optimization EVER.

Well if it's maxed on AA then you're 4x super-sampling. As nice as a 980 is you'd get some stutter in almost any game if you ran 4xSSAA.

I think AA settings are probably behind many of the performance differences that people report (on similar rigs).

Intel Xeon E3-1230v3
Asus GeForce GTX 760
128GB SSD (coh2 on it)
8GB RAM

playing on ultra settings, only with low AA. my pc is loading usually the fastest on the loading screen, but it still takes usually like 20sec to get from the loading screen to the ingame screen, telling me i have too high settings and it will cause low FPS. 3 sec later, i have min. 60 FPS. gg lelic..
