M-42 crews +1 that post.
Except reverse is applied by axis in this very thread.
Suddenly huge explosion that can be shot without any warning, can't be swept, can't be heard in advance and can be used from FoW or from behind shot/LoS blockers is a skill, but sweep-able demo you can prevent or anticipate is evil.
This is exactly the problem with the Sturmtiger. I don't like facing demos, but you can sweep them.
The sturm, you can only hope. Its a unit that even if you see it coming, you can't really do much about it. Because its too safe. If a unit does as much as it does, it needs to be more vulnerable. And sitting on the opposite side of giant buildings/forests makes it able to destroy anything it wants freely without effective retaliation.
And I see people here using it wrong. Can it wipe blobs? Absolutely. But thats not what its most effective use is. The sturmtiger gives you the option ever 1-1.5 minutes to wipe whatever squad you see fit. You can use it to target all the vetted elite infantry and support weapons on the field, slowly lowering the oppositions army to fresh blood. To only use it against blobs is to completely fail to see its true power, getting rid of power units. With its rate of fire, they can effectively replace the units (should it be a single infantry squad). However you will slowly be turning the game into your vet 5 army vs their vet 0 army. Its fantastic at that.
As well, some think the buffs were minor. The 1000 pen buff turns it into any instant wipe for any tank it hits (should you hit an is2, it will also stun for about a century). The +5 range gives it the range needed for appropriate FOW wipes. But the larges was the far aoe multiplier. Before, at .06, any infantry standing at the edge would live. This often led to supbar shots, leading to the sturm feeling lackluster compared to the graphical effects it put out. Now, at .3, it kills ANY infantry in its shot, as well as dealing 194 damage to tanks. This was easily the best part of the buff.
