Nope Pak is still faster. I thought it too had the highest reload. Sadly it doesnt.

Pak is 3.8 seconds on average, 57mm is 2.25.

Believe me, if the 57mm was slower than the Pak I would never ever considering using it ever even for a laugh.

The higher reload speed on the 57mm is what allows it to pen, if you have 2 you can put out a lot of DPS in a short amount of time.

IIRC the ZiS used to have a suuuuper long reload time and it made it quite useless for a while till they changed it

ZIS is better than 57mm.

No theory crafting or mind bending can get u around that fact

They are better than the other in different ways. 57mm does more DPS, ZiS has more utility.

You're talking about theoretical DPS, not practical DPS. The 57mm has on average 65 less penetration (140/125/115) than the ZiS-3. This is a pretty huge difference as it means the 57mm is going to bounce a lot more shots than the ZiS-3. Since bounced shots don't do damage the great theoretical dps of the 57mm suddenly starts to evaporate against anything better armored than an Ostwind.

I suppose the case could be made that the 57mm is designed to be a sub-par AT gun that can use HVAP rounds to suddenly get a sizable boost in DPS but that brings me to my second point: the 57mm doesn't actually do significantly more theoretical DPS than any other AT gun. The 2.25 reload speed of the 57mm looks good on paper but it fails to account for other factors that affect setup weapon DPS such as wind up, wind down, aim time, and cooldown duration. In the case of the 57mm the wind up and wind down times are about 1.5 times longer than the same times on the ZiS-3. Factor in the extra variables and the 57mm has a RoF of one round every 4.3 seconds. For comparison the RoF of the ZiS-3 is 5.8 seconds and the Pak40 is 4.7. Once you take into account damage the 57mm does 37 DPS, the ZiS-3 does 27.6 DPS, and the Pak40 does 34 DPS.

Edit: I used the old Pak40 stats by mistake and jumbled the 57mm dps numbers. Fixed em now.

The 57mm's AP shells are less of a bonus and more of a requirement for it to work against anything tougher than a StuG, as the AP shells will more or less just bring it back up to everyone else's penetration values.

It'll still have the advantage of the fastest reload speed though, but I certainly would pay 20 more munitions to always penetrate and do 25% more damage like in CoH1...

You are really trying to talk sense with Alexzandvar? ha ha

I agree with him. I think the American AT gun needs some help, it should have AP shells and HE shells as a toggle like the Sherman. (With the AT shells being like the gun firing normally with the Tungsten AP shells enabled)

Anyone has a summary of the stream?

C-MART said that he designed/balanced Obersoldats, Jagdpanzer & the JAGDTIGER, so its exciting of what he has in store for us in the upcoming patch

Maybe Obers will cost more, but just be a bit more deadly "Kreygasm"

57MM DPS 37-22

Pak40 32-26

The reload is faster I stand corrected I looked at the skeleton stats for the OKW version which is

40-32

I bet Alex wishes they would have added that...

57: 4.3

Yeah, I forgot all the wind-up and down times and crap :-\. Similar reason why the Raketen is pretty trash despite a good reload time too.

The 57mm still has good points though, but it's definitely hard to use them with it being a 30 munition bleed whenever the enemy has at least a PIV and its only 4 crew members against enemies who have DPS made in expectation of 6 enemies in a squad.

It would be nice for an OKW PaK to exist instead of the hideous garbage we have now, but I don't think it should be the same or better than the Pak40.

Ahhh guys... Those Relic tricks!
They knew everyone was just looking at the sweet girls and the strong but smart Obersoldat.

But look at the right!

Japanese army confirmed.
