A wiki source, really?

The in-game Easy Eight is supposed to mimic a Jumbo with 215 armor vs a Sherman with only 160 armor. It's pretty obvious considering the armor difference.

A pre-Jumbo Easy Eight has nearly the same armor as a regular Sherman (2 inches). Do you not get it yet? There's barely any difference between the Easy Eight with 60mm of armor vs a Sherman with 50mm of armor. The stats you keep posting are Pre-Jumbo Easy Eights that are no different than regular Shermans. Yet in-game there's a huge difference. Put two and two together and what do you get? Oh right, you get an Easy Eight Sherman with Jumbo armor.

Do the math pls.

You are retarded. The armor in game has nothing to do with real armor of the tanks.
They can give the tanks any armor they want in the game.

They very often changes the armor of the IS-2 in the game.Does that mean that the real IS-2 armor also changes?

Bye the way in the game the Elephant has 400 frontal armor and tiger 300. The real tiger had 100mm frontal armor and the real Elephant has 200mm frontal armor. So pls tell me if the Tiger has 300 frontal armor in the game why the Elephant didn t have 600 in the game? In reality the Elphants armor was 2x tigers armor. Elphant has 200 armor too less in the game. DO MATH PLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Copying and pasting information doesn't make you any smarter you know? I've been saying this entire time that the Easy Eight is the successor to the Jumbo. Just the fact that 250 Jumbos were ever produced kinda... nevermind lol.

You're hilarious though, I kinda proved my point with sources. You can sit here and copy paste your 5 min google searches for more info. I've been reading up WWII tanks and aircraft for years.

The M4A3E8 was not the successor to the Jumbo, the Easy Eight was more like the successor to the M4A3 Sherman if anything. E just meant "Experimental Design", being a higher number doesn't mean it's better than the previous design. The M4A3E2 Assault Tank had a completely different role than the Easy Eight, it was meant to lead the attack against fortifications. The Easy Eight was just a general upgrade to the Sherman A3 series featuring improved suspension, armour, and gun.

Not really, it's not your data.

And all that data can be found here: http://www.wwiivehicles.com/united-states/default.asp

Allies/Axis - Armored cars, tanks, light vehicles, tank destroyers without spamming a forum full of junk.

See ya later lol. Hope I didn't burn your ego too bad.

Enough with the Wikipedia Spam. It's off topic and on top of that an unreliable source.

Zaloga has several books about the Sherman (Including Armored Thunderbolt, Armored Victory 1945) which are in my posession. I also took a look at Hunnicutt's classic volumne and there was unfortunately little about the Easy Eight's armor.

What Zaloga says in his book about the Sherman 76mm is that the 'souped up' armor on the Easy-Eights were in fact a field conversion contracted to 3 Belgium factories by Patton's Third Army in Feb. 1945.

the US 4th AD, 6 AD, and 11 AD each had 36 Shermans (including Easy-Eights) given this especially thick armor to their front face. For extents and purposes, it was an improvisation so I can see the confusion going on in this thread. I had not heard of this '173mm' armored E8 before, and improvised conversions would be varying.

On a side note, the Sherman Jumbo's frontal armor could defeat German 88mm L/56. It was 140mm thick. Also, Sherman Jumbos were universally re-armed with the 76mm gun and had their 30 cal. replaced with 50 cal. in early 1945.

Many shermans in field had improvised armor of all sorts added to them, including the welding of armored plated from destroyed tanks onto the hull

Lets just pretend the Sherman E8 is a sherman with improvised armor. Problem solved

I think they will. Especially if they have their "5-year plan", as they said they had. We just need to play the waiting game. It'll come eventually.

If it isn't the Pershing, it will be something else that we will all enjoy I'm sure. I would be okay with either the Pershing or Rangers to be honest. I miss those bastards.

Eh the Jumbo might be a bit too similar to the 105mm Sherman in terms of role: the Jumbo is just an up-armoured Sherman but the same older gun. Heck a "Jumbo" would technically fit by simply giving regular Shermans an up-armour upgrade rather than an actual call-in; that's pretty much the real difference. if the Jumbo is just a beefier version of the Sherman, it doesn't have much reason to replace or even complement the vanilla version. Perhaps if this "Jumbo upgrade" could come alongside a flame tank?

The M4A3R "Zippo" Sherman (that is, flame tank without a trailer, that's the Crocodile) would fit a heavy infantry support role for obvious reasons.

These tanks don't seem to fit into the Heavy role, since both are just versions of the Sherman.
