Yes, I've also had this problem since WFA on two different computers that both previously ran the game fine at their respective settings levels.

I as well.

I've found that immediately alt tabbing and going back to the game will resume the game. Who knows why, but it didn't used to happen to me until WFA.

I am also certain it has zero to do with your hardware too.

Really makes playing unfun.

glad im not the only one, this feature/bug makes the game unplayable for me. lag out for more than 10 seconds and its garunteed GG. this in conjunction with vehicle pathing and doing spins in the middle of the map when i command it to back up, once again made me uninstall this game. i want to love this game, but the amount of aggrivation is not worth it.

I just want to ask if someone has been experiencing short, temporary freezes but NOT followed by fast forwards? Happens in both online and offline modes.

Could it be related to graphics settings? Even though one sits on a monster of a machine?

This is become so unbelievably frequent that I am just about fed up with this game.

Balance problems...

Auto-matching problems...

Optimization problems...

Bugs, pathing and numerous other coding problems...

and now this?

You have GOT to be kidding me Relic...

Relic, you cannot seriously IGNORE this problem.

Do you guys understand that this game is fucked because of this? No one will take this game seriously with this crap.

There is a thread about this over on our own forums - http://community.companyofheroes.com/forum/company-of-heroes-2/company-of-heroes-2-general-discussion/company-of-heroes-2-bug-reporting/86369-game-is-getting-outright-unplayable-again-due-to-lag

The devs told me that what you're seeing is due to the fact that they added reconnects to the battle server. So if for some reason you got disconnected, you are no longer kicked from the game, but get re-connected automatically. That’s why your game will freeze and speed up to catch-up with everyone else. Previously in these cases, you would have simply been disconnected from the game but now can continue playing.

We're looking into adding messaging to communicate this. But also want to investigate this further. Anyone that can provide dxdiags, replays and warnings logs - please let me know. It goes a long way in helping them diagnose things.

Thanks!

If thats true, that is great.^^
But yeah, a message or something will go a long way, to not get blamed for something that is acutally good :D

Cynthia,

wouldn't that mean that players would be experiencing a lot more drops then recently if it weren't for reconnect? If every "lag and fast forward" would mean the player would have dropped from the game of course...

This sounds like a hard one to diagnose.
Ironically I run the game on a six year old Machine, and usually I don't have 10 second delays. The most I see is 1 second or so.

Does relic have some sort of tracing tool to log connection traffic in real time?

It might make the game run slower, but, at least if you didn't care about ruining your record that day, you could turn it on and see if you could re-produce the issue.

Its easy to point the finger at the internet because its a "public" network- and a lot of times that's the case, but, IMHO I think you need to figure out a way you can catch it real time. Maybe you already have that in house...

Without that real time capture of what is going on, I'm not sure dxdiag and event logs are going to be much help.

Another thought might be is that there is some sort of security software on people's machines flagging this "re-connect" traffic as bad, thereby causing massive slowdowns for some people. I.E. realtime virus protection, firewall, etc.

For the record, I would run the "tracer" if you have it. My ranked record is pretty lame, so I don't risk losing any status...

Thanks Cynthia for the response. Kinda surprised that you guys implemented something as big as a server reconnect feature and it was a stealth change!

Yesterday I loaded a game where one guy on the opposing team was taking ages to load. Then when he finally finished, we froze for like 20 seconds (nothing moved, resource income was at +0), everyone can chat, and then eventually I got a message that everyone dropped followed by the DEFEAT screen. I'm guessing the team with the guy who took ages to load got the win.

1) Was this scenario the server trying to reconnect?
2) If so, why wouldn't it just drop the obviously problematic player instead of ruining the game for everyone?
3) How does it decide which team wins and which loses?

If these freezes would all have been drops, then the rate of drops must have skyrocketed. Moth my brother and I get this almost every game. Whether drops or freezes are the problem, I lose units to it. Has to be resolved.

My friend had this kind of problem, it started with WFA, even tho he was still playing vCoh2. He did fresh install of OS and COH2, also I diagnosed his connection - it was all fine. He fixed the problem by buying new PC. I wouldn't blame re-connection system, but rather some other glaring issues with the game performance.

Im f.cking tired of your bugs and and technical issues. Lost matches to noobs in a row becuase of your poor effort on game. All you did is spamming commander dlc's instead of stable the game.

I efforted and spent more than you! I got first new gpu>motherboard>cpu>ram who think im exaggerating i can show you the bills.

Game was unplayeble because new op units I waited. Game was unplayeble because optimisation i waited and built new pc.
Then wait again? Seriously if you say we found the soulition gonna fix then I demand reset my stats

I cannot play anymore due to this "freeze followed by fast forward" issue. This problem appeared after the implementation of the battleserver. Back then it occured rarely. Now it happens so often I can't play anymore. My hardware is fine my connection is fine.

relic please fix this issue!
