Do you miss the old vCoH rank badges system related to the ladder (1-20), instead of the new "everybody is lvl 100"

Hello there,

I'm wondering if the new expansion "focused on multiplayer" will feature rank badges ? Cause it made all the feeling to know that you beat someone of higher level, or loose to a challenger under you, it was all the flavor of competitive matches. In order to please every style of playing this game, comp stompers or players in customs can still have their badges lvl 20 without the 1v1 or 2v2 etc. sign. It would add, I think, a great move towards the competitive community which quite promote the game the most. Without hurting anyone.

These badges stood for skill, so I would like to see them back. Its always good to know wich skill level your enemy is. But I don't think they will come back.

It was so fun to see in the loading screen "oh crap it's a lvl 14 and i'm 12, i'll try my best strategy or try something he don't expect ?" THIS made a lot for the pleasure of competing against an opponent, having the stress to loose your rank or to beat the best. You fought for something that you could be proud of, moreover, it make people more attached to this game, as everyone knows how it's an addictive thing to want to promote.

Those COH1 ranks were so perniciously addictive, I don't know why they didn't implement/haven't implemented them in COH2. They also seem to have been nothing more than your Elo score divided by 100 and rounded off a bit ie not the most complex bit of coding Relic has ever pulled off. I hope they will suddenly reappear when WFA drops.

I loved these old rank badges. The possibility of gaining the next rank was always the spur I needed to keep playing in the competitive scene. I agree we definitely need this back.

a. reflects skill
b. doesn't stop at an arbitrary number

There is nothing wrong with the ladder. The COH1 ranks made a good supplement to the ladder, and you could use the ranks as a shorthand for skill level. Ladder and ranks together, that's the good stuff.

those cuck sockers are the reason why I've played vcoh for 5 years. probably the biggest reason why I still play vcoh truly an addictive and ingenious way to get all hooked on coh :blush:

I have to agree... But don't be defeatist

The problem is the flooding of comp stompers and 3v3 4v4 players that don't want to see ranks because "people will leave scared of high ranks" or "people will blame each others being lower rank"...

- I don't think flamers need ranks to flame
- Toning down competitive aspect of the game just because of newbies is quite crazy for a game with this potential.
- Let a chance for relic to be fair this time

Its not what Relic can or can't do, its a matter of who Relic caters to.

There is extremely poor support for the non "comp stomp 3v3 4v4 scared of better players crowd" and to not scare that crowd Relic will restrain themselves from all eye candy that would in any way indicate that you are better player then your opponent/team mate.

Not arbitrary the way level 1-20 was, as it can go as high as there is users to feed Elo points.
