Cheaper barrage, more mobility, damage to 140

those seem to be the popular suggestions

DMG to 140 but gets to 160 with vet.
PZ4s can catch up to this thing easily, it does need more mobility.
If you use ZiS-6 supply trucks from the Industry/Lend-Lease doctrines you can potentially float over 300+ muni in just a few minutes, especially if you deploy them ontop of a muni point.That way you can make two SU-76 for supplementary AT/AI role with enough munitions to spare and throw away.

It amazes me that the stug at vet 3 becomes faster then the su76. The su76 should defenitly get a mobility buff with vet.

Decided to mess around and try a SU76 spam build with Def tactics. I was expecting to lose but try it out to see if I could make it work.

I was pretty much dictating the game with my normal build, made T70 lost it killing his Flak Trak but was pretty much in control. Made a couple SU76 found his Flak HQ, decided screw it lets try barrage, barely did any damage. Made a 120 mortar which did slightly better until delayed fuse where it did a lot better. Lost both of them trying to take down the Flak HQ, again wasn't really trying to win just doing some test against live player.
Ended up making 3 to try and kill his Sturmtiger and I noticed they take a bit to shoot even though they have high rate of fire. Did some damage but lost them. Expected since they are trash but I didn't realize until the end how bad they were. I rushed him with last bit of SU76 and what I noticed is that if a vehicle leaves the LOS even if it was just hit it almost immediately drops to FOW.

Thoughts:
Supposedly the point of this unit is to work as a crutch if you are behind on gas. Well that can't be since it will only Pen a P4 or lower so it is useless vs OKW which have higher armor units to begin with.
Since it is a LV, if the unit is gonna have horrible stats it should by default come with vehicle tracking when it lands a hit. It is to clumsy to use otherwise.
What is barrage good for? Can't reliably hit infantry or building so what is it supposed to do other than waste muni.
Mobile reserves wasn't to bad, let my Penals vet faster to bully volks around. Would be nice if Teching it reduced cost of T4, otherwise no one is going to do it.
Edit: Maybe give it a global stun shot.

I see a few suggestions for a siege mode. I think the easiest solution that's in line with that suggestion is just to make it's barrage free again. The barrage already got nerfed and you could add a higher cool down that goes down with vet. I'd buy it for that alone

The seige mode has the "benifit" of locking the vehicle down. In a balance perspective that adds counterplay and requires the SOV player to defend the area ESPECIALLY because the su76 is made of tissue paper. Free barrage can be canceled and used on a whim which has a higher chance of abuse en masse

This is my whole argument for a siege mode: You can utilize a playstyle of softening up enemy defenses for assaults, blunting enemy blobs in defense, and be punished if you do not respect your siege mode, just like in the case of the kv-2



Meanwhile fortified armor lets ferdi have over 100 range in a stationary mode, panthers getting TD range, and you can IMMEDIATELY become mobile if you need to. There's no reason why the su-76 cant receive it's own siege mode, it fits the faction, is reasonably balanced, and the unit will have relevance throughout the game.

Honestly if people are afraid of spam, abuse, or whatever, but still gave wehrmacht a hull down with no downsides, idk what to say anymore
