I find the end game report very useful. Imo there should be an attempt for units report to include emplacement since it would be helpful.
Damage is not very accurate but it helpful.
Good thing is that shot from ATGs that bounce do not count as damage done as it can be seen from this report where M-42 is firing on KT.

Do you know how "unit efficiency" in percent is calculated exactly?
Is it just the "damage dealt" divided by "damage taken"?

Unfortunately no think it a combination of XP gained (or damage done) and unit XP value (or cost).
I suspect on could test by firing 1 ATG and Zis ATG round on the 2 tank of the same type.
We could try testing it if you are really interested.
I do not think damage taken would be reduce efficiency.

I would not, in any circumstances, take into account the end game stats for any balance discussions, or for any measurements of any kind.
The report is bugged, inaccurate, utterly random, very confusing, it ignores loads of gameplay (example AT bouncing counts as hits and sometimes not, depends on units), AoE is ignored on most weapons, it's very unclear of its calculation of any part, it doesn't like mods, it's asynchronous between players, calculates world objects damage (but not all of them), its asynchronous between units, and there's loads of other nonsense stuff I can't and won't list.
Please ignore the end game report. it is only useful for just a bit of fun and trivia after a match, but that's all. Too much fudge otherwise. You get more from a replay or match video.

I would like to see this fixed although it might be intentional. The actual damage numbers are preferable. I would think it's especially better for newer players

I do not think it is intentional I guess the engine simply calculating all damage done including the damage done to world objects.
This is guess of coarse and I could be wrong but I suspect that in map without world objects the report might be more accurate.
If any want to run some test to find out more I would probably be available.
