Got facerolled by the worst blobs I've ever seen and a rushed Luch last night in a 2v2.
Omg. Thing is so powerful against inf. |
An alternate solution would be increase the cost of the heavies, and you get a discount from teching.
E.g.
Incease cost of Tiger by 50 fuel.
T3 unlock gives 20 fuel discount
T4 unlock gives 30 fuel discount
These figures are totally arbitrary, obviously. But conceptually, it would make tiering more economically viable. Similar things would apply to other factions. If you want to stick at T2, that's fine, but it's going to delay your first tiger somewhat and make each subsequent one more expensive. |
The other change you could make to Obers is to make their Vet basically meaningless / tiny bonuses. Or eliminate it outright. Since they're supposed to be ultra-veterans, they shouldn't really have much more to learn from combat experience compared to say, raw soviet recruits, who should theoretically have the easiest time making significant experience-based progress. |
On the side note I find it hilarious how unit that menages to grab Obers lmg magically turns into a squad of super soldiers. One game I got it on combat engineers squad as it was the only unit nearby and I didn't want my opponent to reclaim it. They were destroying everything on the field.
I have a memory of capturing LMG34 with shock troops. Is that possible or can shocks not pick anything up?
But yeah it turns any squad into demons.
IMO they should further downgrade LMG34 dps and upgrade ober K98 DPS so that losing models has more of an impact on the squad's performance. |
Yep new patch started and I got a couple of freezes briefly.
I also had someone playing against me accuse me of 'using a lag cheat' because they froze for a second while their unit was under fire. |

Now I'm not saying it's OP.
But on some maps... |
Ninja change:
- Forgot all of your loadouts, AGAIN, haha suckers |
Scott imo. Such a beast of a unit, although a letdown in the long range pounding department. |
I don't really like the gimmicky additional factions that Relic loves to add (where asymmetrical balancing is taken to its logical extreme and we get some wierd starcraft situation where two WW2 armies are facing each other down with totally different kinds of units and have serious gaps in their arsenals).
But for me, CoH went off the rails with the microtransaction model. I feel like "Theatre of War" should have been what the DLC was mostly. Some unit skins too, that's fine. And obviously expansion pack style content. But the core of the game, the competitive multiplayer, should never have had players locked out of accessing commanders without paying more money. I feel like we never would have had a commander system at all if not for the game being designed around substantial DLC throughput.
Heck, in an ideal world, the two new factions would have been freely available to all players - and "Ardennes Assault" would have been what we were paying for, not "Western Front Armies", followed by the WFA campaign a few months and 40 US dollars later. I am speculating that the nature of the game as it shipped was originally dictated heavily by THQs woeful financial stituation during early development. Then Sega wanting to get their money's worth after they purchased Relic.

The Jackson would be an amazing unit if it was in the Axis since it would be dealing with T34s and Sherman variants, which it would annihilate. But against Axis high armor values of the tanks make it much less effective. If you're facing down a player who has gone for a heavy T3 strategy, Ostwinds and P4s and such, it is quite effective, no real complaints. But most people don't do that, they're usually teching up to a big tank that will bounce your armor. And the supplementary AT of the German factions is really very effective.
I maintain my earlier suggestion - AP rounds become vet 0. In combination with an overall small nerf to Panzershreks (probably long range accuracy is best way to do that), I think the balance situation will be very good with the Jackson.
To whomever said it before - yeah, getting several Shermans is really needed for late game USF. HE rounds allow you to deal with shrek blobs very effectively while also being able to go toe-to-toe with T3 armor / light OKW vehicles. You need to use fast, numerous Shermans to destroy their army before they can get a critical mass of heavy armor w/ support. A lone Tiger Ace will fall to your forces, but if there are still panzergrens with shreks and MG42s and Paks on the field, you're pretty much fucked. |
