I am serious. It can fire from outside of normal LoS due to range, or though vision blockers. Literally the first clue that there is a Sturmtiger on the field could be the fact that one of your tanks just went from 100% hp no 0%hp.

I suppose the one thing you can do it rush the base after it has fired and dropping an IL-2 bombstrike on the damn thing while it is reloading. Just make sure you don't hit it with anything else. The crew will die, giving your enemy time to re-crew it and drive away from the bombstrike.

At first I thought it was a bad idea. But now that it is gone, I kinda miss it.

There were some problems with it though. Assault grens popping up out of nowhere was a pain to deal with.

It's not bad against Ostheer, but it's pretty bad against OKW.

Against Ostheer you can go for a T1 opening and get the mini AT gun against scout cars. After some other call-ins you can go for T3 and quickly harass with T70 or go directly for a T34. All the wile spamming mini mines to put the hurt on any infantry movements.

If you go T1 against OKW, they will go for the Flak AA halftrack and your mini AT gun just does not have the fire power to do serious damage against it. Meanwhile the AA halftrack is extremely potent against your T1 infantry/conscripts. You will get pushed back, and any quick tech move to T3 tanks is met with a Puma+rackettenwerfer/panzerschrek. Any attempt to mine up the place with mini mines is met with mobile AA truck forcing your engies back. With no option for heavier tanks, the OKW can just continue to build up Pumas to counter your T3, and elite infantry to simply out-shoot your penals/conscripts. At this point you also can't continue mining because the Pumas will drain your T34/76 health with long range shots, forcing you to keep your 2/3 engie squads close to them.

Then keep going 5 gren BO and keep wondering why you can't win against rifles and M15.

Please stop. Don't comment on 1v1 gameplay if you are going to be this clueless. A 5 minute Pak40 is just not feasible in 1v1.

Here is how USF vs Ostheer playes out if ostheer goes for 5 minute pak:
- USF gets 3 rifles
- Ostheer gets something along the lines of 2 grens 1 mg42.

At this point Ostheer is at a minor disadvantage in terms of firepower. Rifles are considerably more potent than vanilla grens. You have to get lucky and get a double suppress on the riflemen or you'll likely not be able to take more than 40% of the map.

Next step:
- USF gets lieutendent, then gets a AA halftrack.
- Ostheer techs up to BP1, gets T2, builds a Pak.

Now the Ostheer loses. Ostheer has 2 gren squads, a mg42 and a pio squad to deal with 3 rifles, a heavily armed lieutendent squad and a AA halftrack. USF doesn't even need to use the AA HT at this point, 3 rifles and a lieutendent are more than enough to crush the 3 T1 ostheer squads. And manpower wise the USF will have enough mp for a quick 50cal HMG follow before the ostheer can get a 4th infantry squad. Bye-Bye map control, hello basepin and have fun waiting it out till the shermans roll in to finish you off.


Out of all the suggestions made to counter the 5 minute AA halftrack, yours is the worst.

T34/76s are not good enough to warrant a higher fuel cost.
