StugE -> tigers is actually a super common strategy. It doesn't really require you to play well and get net some easy wins. |
Well, it also 1-shots medium tanks. It doesn't need to kill many of those to get vet 1. The problem is that once you wiped like 2-3 squads and a tank, the game is already over in many cases.
Other tanks can rack up vet fast by damaging other tanks over and over again without actually scoring many kills. The Sturmtiger can't do this, it just kills them in 1 shot (unless it's an ISU or IS2).
Now, the sturmtiger is already a pretty sick unit if you know how to use it. I don't feel it's a good idea to have it vet up fast. |
Not only for Luchs, but IE.18, Kubel, Sturmtiger, etc. NEVER reach the maximum lv.5 in a close - high level AND long (40+min)1v1 game.
If you use a stürmtiger well, it won't even reach vet 1 before the game is over.

I would say it's quite bad for mortar spam. The mortars take quite some time to set-up, aim, and land. They also have practically no cool down on their barrage anyway and can auto fire. Not really worth the 80 munitions.
It is however quite nice on the panzerwerfer and the howitzer. Those have long cool-down periods that can be filled up with the officers ability. The howitzer can more or less fire 3 barrages back-to-back if you time it right, more if you have ammo to spare. |
I'll all for more diversity and roles between the different tanks, but I can't agree with you on the StugIIIG. I feel it has to remain cheap. Without a cheap StugIIIG, you will only have expensive tanks in T3.
Currently when you need extra armor ASAP but are below 100 fuel you can get a StugIIIG to support either your other tanks or infantry. I have been in many situations where I had to get a StugIIIG because I did not have the time to save up more fuel.

I think other units like the Kübelwagen and the Luchs need to get Veterancy quicker. And maybe they need something in their vet-bonuses to make them more durable, cause it sucks to have a very experienced unit die to 1 or 2 AT-Shots.
The Luchs is already very survivable for only costing 50 fuel. It it takes 3 AT shots to kill it, 4 if it gets lucky with main gun destroyed crit or something.
The more (fuel) expensive T70 and SU76m both all die in 2 hits, as do the allied light vehicles including the stuart and the m8.
The Kubelwagen on the other hand.. that thing needs some love. Perhaps a range increase on vet1 so it can stay further back to rack up more vet. |

well i wasnt, but if you want to get into it they are comparable. they may be slightly more different than they used to be, but they are still similar.
both reduce recieved accuracy. both increase acceleration. both require vet 1.
blitz has the advantage of increasing speed by 35% as well.
overdrive has the advantage of costing 1/3 as many munitions, lasting 33% longer, working with engine damage, further reducing damage to squads inside the vehicles,
It also has the advantage of working only on light vehicles. Making its impact on the game far less substantial than Blitzing medium/heavy tanks. |
Vet 5 is not the only compensation OKW gets for their low fuel income, it's one of many. Also please keep in mind that OKW vet 4 and 5 are on top of vet 3; they don't get to vet 3 at the same rate as other factions, and can get 4 and 5 after that.
However, you do have a point, some units seem to vet up extremely slow. And it's not just limited to OKW. It's more or less an issue shared with all expensive vehicles that are designed to kill infantry.
The Brummbar, KV-8, Sturmtiger, Stuka, Ostwinds etc all vet up slowly because their main targets are infantry units, who have a low cost and don't give a lot of experience. |
does the buff stack beyond 3 crates? IE if I pickup 6 crates am I getting 6x the bonus as compared to a single crate??
I don't see why not. But it's not really necessary, with 3 crates your infantry are already immortal death machines. |

No. It really isnt.
Make one and see for yourself.
You might learn a thing or two about respectful, objective and constructive posting, devoid of sarcasm and other irrelevancies, in the process too.
The post opens with "does the game really need this ability?"
Of course you are not going to get good feedback when you want to eliminate the one ability that can stop the blitz madness (unless they use smoke, then it does not stop).
The Soviets ability to compete lategame is already limited to a handful of commanders, removing button would just shrink down even further. |
