Sounds like Shocks. Only the pios don't have nades, armour or 6 men.
If you think it's wrong that a unit can only be countered by standing in cover/garrison, then Shocks are very wrong too.

With the "little" diference that you start with a sturmpio squad for free, and they aren't doctrinal like Shocks. If you vet them fast they can even do serious damage to shocks.
By the way, you can't counter Sturmpios garrisoning buildings, not with conscripts at least.

And I don't think Sturmpios are a wrong unit, but they are too strong for the moment in the game when they appear. Same happens with Rifles vs Grens.
WFA introduced overpowered infantry in the early game that fucked the balance with the vanilla factions. Right now at least Grens can try to resist with the LMG upgrade against rifles, but conscripts and penals just are there to be butchered and give OKW cheap vet.

I hope next patch makes early infantry much less unbalanced.

Ratio has less relevance than position when talking about the Soviets and Ostheer. Players could have had losses when they started playing then got better. Their improvement would lead to a higher position while their ratio remains weak.


I think you should focus on him being 20th in The World as Soviets and saying "I think Soviets are cheesy OP BS" rather than his ratio. If he's good enough to get to such a high position (and probably could go much higher if he played Sovs more), he probably knows Soviets well enough to know what he's talking about and for people to listen. Even if he's saying what you don't want to hear.

I'm not doubting his opinion about balance. I said that he's undoubtely a MUCH better player than me in all factions. But the huge disparity in ratio in their 2vs2 random games is too strange for him to say later that soviets are easy to win with.
I'd expect that with the so called "abusive faction" he would have a huge number of victories. I find strange to complain about one faction being overpowered and abusive when you are wining 9 out of 10 games against them, and probably being paired against the best allied players in the ranking.

My theory is that probably that ratio is because is much easier to find a random OKW partner that can be useful (just blobing volks with schrecks and obers) than a random soviet player who knows what to do.

I also play lots of 2vs2 random games and it amazes me to see the HUGE number of real noobs who play soviets (those players who need 3 minutes to move their first unit and the first thing that he does is capping a VP, or that they make two fuel caches before building a second unit, etc). Seems that Soviet is the magnet faction for noobs, due maybe that the singleplayer campaign is played with them and then is the first faction they learn to use.

I'm curious and I'd want to know if their ratio disparity is due a bad teammates or perhaps is just because he played soviets months ago when he wasn't so good player, as you said Bulgakov.

More variables factor into the balance besides health and damage, all of the American vehicles can decrew and repair quickly and anywhere to allow them to potentially be back to full force before the enemy has finished repairing.

Even so, they need something to spearhead an attack. Even a piece of crap like it was US Crocodile in vCoH was useful to lure some Pak shots.

I completely agree, the Soviet faction has the most abusive elements of the game right now, especially VS OKW. And no realy the ISU is not easy to kill @Hon3ynuts. It's hell to deal with.
It has immense range acting as a scout, it wipes squads and it does heavy damage to armor, I mean what the hell?? A player is forced to go jagdtiger nearly every game to take it out. Forcing the OKW player not to have mg34s which is needed VS the immortal shock unit rush from Soviets (another thing which should be looked at). A few pumas can't take out a ISU when it's supported by Zis and guards. And jagdpanzer definitely not. The ISU can just stand in the middle of the map with zero micro and just wipe everything. A complete joke.


I wish all these superhero units just go from the game (KT, elephant, ISU, jagdtiger, IS2)
I mean the game becomes a race about who can kill the "superhero" unit first, the late game is always about the superhero units. They should not be in the game in the first place

Dude, I trust your opinion because clearly you're a better player than me, but it's hard to believe that Soviets are OP and abusive as you say, when you have a ratio of 0.82 with OKW 2vs2 Random and a +20 streak, and just a poor 0.38 ratio with soviets.

As if there arent already a million threads on this.

The sad thing is than more than half of them were made by him too.
