One thing I noticed about edit state, with object splines. When you type in the section number, you must hit enter before that number is selected. Some of the other number entry fields, dont require hitting enter, so it was misleading at first. |
Is there a tutorial for this? Because I know how to use texture and deform splines, but I'm not sure how to use object splines, I can't add objects to the spline list for example.
And about my previous post, can I edit the swampgrass_m_01 to object splines instead of objects?
Thanks for helping me out!
EDIT: Ah, I found how to add it to the list. Lets try......
Just remember, there is two lists, default, and currently selected. That confused me at first. You should be able to zoom out, and double click an object, and all of the same object should select. |
You should be using object splines everywhere u get a chance. Those reeds along the water are a great example, and you will find it will save you much time as well. Use them of walls, fences, basically anything that is in a row. This is most likely the issue. |
Using the select objects, on my map, I zoomed out and selected everything. I have 3790 objects splines SPLTS..ect, on a 800x800 playable area, 928x928 total. I'm having no issues. If you are referring to the grass tool, it uses Bloom rendering, and is not the problem. I have no water on my map, but I've added water before, just to see how it would be, and had no issues, but that was some time ago, and less objects. You could eliminate that as an issue by deleting your water, or disabling as suggested above, and seeing if it still crashes.
You specs look more than sufficient. The screenshots look normal for detail. The question was asked earlier, are you using object splines to make hedge rows, walls...ect, or are you placing objects 1 at a time?
The map has really good details btw, impressive! |
Final update for the contest. |
Hello, I'm working on a big map, but world builder crashes almost constantly now. Every time I place 2 objects, it crashes. Is there an object, grass or some other kind of limit that I transcended? (Please ignore my bad english.)
I don't want to lose this map, there are many hours of effort in, and it's highly detailed. (eye candy! )
I don't think there is a limit, I have tons of objects, SPLT, splines...ect, in my map.
Can you throw up some screenshots of your highly detailed area's, as to give an idea of how much you have?
What are your computer specs? |
Can anyone help me with some detailing? I am at my first map attempt and I am having some trouble adding a some detail to an area.
Is it possible to make the weather, i.e. wind and snow, of one area of the map different then the rest of the map? I have a frozen lake in my map and I am finding it hard to blend in the soft edge as it is on the maps edge to fit the theme. And a is a crucial part of the map. I wanted to do some windy snow "on the lake", but I am not sure if its even possible. After all I guess there is only so much detail you can add to a frozen lake. I would appreciate any ideas or advice!
THANK YOU!
I believe all the weather is defined in atmosphere settings, which is global. There might be some NIS (animation) stuff that you could do, but I'm no expert, and I think that is for cinematic..etc.
You could apply the same sort of detailing, as in the frozen rivers on the stock maps. There is quite a bit of SPLT's and splines, in those. You could always add some rocky island in the middle of the lake, even if it cannot be accessed, it would look natural. |
What's the minimum amount of boxes needed for infantry?
EXAMPLE
Can infantry units use this path (2 boxes wide):
Infantry can use 1 box wide, AT will go through 2 boxes wide. I use this for movement restriction on one of my maps, and it works well.
Keep in mind, the AI will bunch up at the entrance to it, if it is too packed, so if you are doing this to restrict movement, such as I did, make multiple paths in the same area, this will reduce traffic jams. |
Do the territory points work while height adjusted? You could just sink it below the terrain where your building is. Something to check out, if you haven't gotten it working yet. |
The idea was to place the actual point inside an object, to make the point invisible. So that it looks like the strategic point is a house, and not a flag.
This gives you problems with constructing caches, but that actually made my think about a tactical thing: you can't place caches on some of the points (those points are close to the bases), so you have to place caches closer to your enemy. (This is meant for big maps, not for small ones.)
Most objects are destructible, how would it affect your goal if the object was completely destroyed? For example a building, once destroyed it cannot be entered, would that territory go unchallenged if not accessible? |
