Tried an infantry light build which really struggled on map control but had some fun plays, especially with the avre. |
the AEC does make the OST not viable in 1v1. There is no counter to it at the time it comes out.
Relic fked this up
Mines, panzerschrecks, AT guns. Even incendiary rounds/panmzerfaust do okay.
It's all about positioning. Most players are in "Drive AEC directly at them" mode so as long as you have some AT on the field you'll be fine.

Nvidia Shadowplay or AMD Gaming Evolved are the lowest performance impact options and work pretty well for most people.
FRAPS, Obs, MSI Afterburner etc all work perfectly fine too but have different degrees of performance impact. FRAPS is the highest, OBS and Afterburner are pretty similar.
I would recommend trying out AMD Gaming Evolved's video functionality first as it has the lowest impact on game performance and will be easy to set up. |
Currently Ostheer is stuck into static play until T3 because any light armour they pull is immediately invalidated by the Allied light armour in the form of Stuarts, Quads, T-70s, AECs which arrive only a minute or so after unless you're bleeding the other side dry with sniper play, but that's another issue of snipers being too strong, yet a necessary crutch for Ostheer to compete in the infantry war against WFA/Brits. Furthermore, if against USF, the Captain alone negates effective usage of the car.
1. If you support your units with nearby AT, he can't bumrush it with light vehicles. It's a dance of micro, you don't have to avoid using things/use them suicidally simply because he has a counter on the field. (I see a shit ton of people do this when I watch Dane's Propaganda Cast.) You don't need to even kill him, just hurt him so he has to go lick his wounds.
2. Captain can only be one spot on the map. Car can drive around the map being where he isn't. Americans who rely on Captain exclusively for AT are in for a bad time. |
CoH2 doesn't even support SLI ?!
WoW ! Jeez. And here I was considering going crossfire r9 290s for crossfire... Glad I read your post.
Yeah, something to do with how they implemented coldtech snow/footprints makes it so that SLI/CF degrade performance so it is simply disabled.
For what it's worth though, 290 CF is worth it for most other games. Especially if you want to do higher resolutions.
Since you are all so interested in this tread, after its been resolved.
How about you guys help me with something that still plauges me?
I have a core i3 running at 3ghz clock speed
4 gigs of ddr3 ram running at 1333 mhz
gtx 750 ti with 1 gb of on board ram
Im fairly happy with the performance, its by no means great, but it runs on medium-ish settings just fine @ about 70 - 80 fps whilst idle in 1v1.
That being said.
I get stutter lag, the fps drops to zero for a second or two. This annoys the shit out of me.
My friend told me that his stutter was resolved by replacing his display card. But I still have stutter.
What should be my check list?
Try turning texture quality down to medium or high.
A lot of stutter is caused by consuming too much video memory. A 2GB card like a 750Ti generally will want to run most games at mediumish texture settings for anything released in the last couple of years. |
Shreks on volks are gonna be problematic, but the solutions for it are very limited because Volks are meant to be the core of the faction.
Volks were never meant to be the core of the faction. That's why it has elite infantry units out the ass. (Sturmpios, Jaeger Light, Panzerfusilers, obersoldaten, Fallschirmjaegers) and lots of light-medium vehicles. Volks for OKW were always supposed to be like engineers for the other factions. It's a role reversal since OKW has super engineers, their infantry is trashier. They're supposed to have expensive but strong units with volksgrenadiers serving as expendable infantry to fill in the gaps.
It's largely why buffing volks into mainline infantry has resulted in huge balance issues. They still have all their elite infantry and light vehicle play, but now their basic mobile AT unit is also better than conscripts in combat for a marginally more expensive cost. |
What is the recent retard patch?
The one that ruined OKW. But that's aside from the point, as this panzerschreck vet bullshit has been around for a lot longer than that. (Just wasn't an issue because volks weren't nearly as good in combat and buying mass schrecks was prohibitive) |
into a 10 minute advantage that snowballs into a win.
There's no such thing as a snowball in comeback of heroes.
Most garrisons can be circumvented simply by going elsewhere on the map and capping those territories. The only time it's a problem is when said building is covering a cut off. (Which is a map design issue more than anything else) |
So, I think panzerschrecks are balanced more or less. The problem is the obscene amount vet you get for doing damage with it. And the vet bonuses for volksgrenadiers, combined with the recent retard-patch gives them significantly higher damage output. So it's actually beneficial to your anti-infantry damage to get the panzerschreck and accrue vet 3-4 much faster than you normally would. (Far more than you get from having that fifth man with a rifle)
I think this is resulting in a huge imbalance in veterancy pacing in favour of OKW infantry, giving them a serious midgame advantage.

For CoH2, I would recommend at least 2 GTX 980s. Don't worry, they only cost about $500 a piece. Anything less and expect about 20fps.
Just kidding, but seriously, this game is terribly optimized. There's another thread you could check out if you want to learn more.
To answer your question, the GTX 750ti is a great budget card.
CoH2 doesn't even support SLI.
