The problem with the Elefant is not the Elefant itself in my opinion but the Jaeger armor Doctrine.
The assessment of some that the doctrine is useless in general seems somewhat ill-informed.
2 CP Recon flight, while made mostly redundant by the Elefant, Spotting Scope and Focus Sight combination it is still useful especially combined with the Stuka Bombing Strike. The reason why it is very useful is the fact that according to the devs the 152mm Howitzer should be a rather useful countered to the Elefant but it's instantly counter by a Stuka Bomb and the Recon.
In summation. It's the doctrine design that seems somewhat flawed since it completely negates the use of one of the suggested counters to the Elefant.
Recon flight + bombing strike = 80 + 160=240MU if u use that mine is like 60MU each which is very expansive. today in a game, i used elefant and enemy use 152mm to counter me in a 3v3 game. the fight is long, and i lost 5 out 6 elefant total 4 of them is from 152mm and 1 due to heavily damaged by 152mm and got flanked during retreat. main problem i have is not enough MU to keep use that combo strike as battle is intense.
also there is another counter from russian to elefant is strike bombing and it is pretty hard for elefant to avoid it as elefant is slow that strike come pretty quick. (quicker than Stuka bombing i felt) |
panther is fine, it is all around tank very good balance of everything, anymore on a panther, could make it become op, only problem right now i have is panther is quite expansive on MP, now i pretty much always got to like 200FU before i am having enough MP for a panther |
weird i have a i7 3770k 16g 660ti i run everything on max except antialiasing on med. it was completely fine no lag |
Shock rifle frontline doesn't get guards nor self repair, armored assault doesn't get any elite infantry whatsoever.
Unless you mean team games, in which IS-2 is quite different.
i guess he is using Russian Armored Assault Tactics and play 2v2+ not 1v1 to get guards support |
the way Oorah is kind ok, i just hope they give that when a conscript use Oorah ability will receive a negative cover and can't HTD during Oorah will be great. i mean Oorah means charge right? feel so weird seeing conscript use Oorah and HTD together |
well in the pass two games, 1 of them my elefant(half health) got hit by a 152mm round and almost kill it, main gun destroyed with a slip of hp left, i mean that is alot damage from a single shot. so i decide try germans 105 next game, i use it, it take about 3-5shots to kill a SU85 and it used 2 shot to kill a katyusha so i say it is pretty balanced atm 1 with more damage the other can fire more often |
How many times did u fire panzerfaust in total, 100 deflects versus how many penetrations?
i didn't recall clearly how many but i only countered IS2 3-4 times after new patch can't remember correctly (not many because i didn't play german much after new patch, and about information before the new patch i don't remember i am not a computer you know) but i do remember clearly in 1 game i fired two faust on a IS2 using 2 gren one after another because the first one didn't cost engine damage (that is also the time i see it didn't work). |
Speaking of panzerfaust, I noticed it always causes engine damage to the IS2, even when fired at the front armor. Panzerfaust has 140 penetration and the IS2 has 325 front armor, therefore shouldn't the panzerfaust fail to penetrate at least half the time if not more?
that is not true i experience that faust does no damage or no engine damage to IS-2 (1 time), KV8(2-3 times), SU85(3-4 times) and T34(1 time not sure about this one was blocked by a tree or it hit but no damage was looking at other part of map when it fired but T34 was running fine when i look back and didn't bother check the replay) (pretty much all front armor though seems hitting back armor always engine damage). and i see faust got block by tree and building couple times.
on the other hand Russian's AT nade can fly though anything so it never got blocked and 100% damage to engine from my experience(no matter where it hits, my elefant got engine damage from AT nade that hits front armor 2 time out of 2 nades yesterday and elefant have 400 front armor ) so i think you have nothing to complain about it |
Are you joking? Until I get 2 Panthers or one Elephant (or 22 shrek squads or 45 paks LOL) to counter one, ONE SINGLE unit the game is already lost. Such a braindead post...

22 shrek sqads = 7920 MP and 2640 MU
45 paks = 16200 MP...

Why don't you just crew the weapon and hit retreat,then reinforce...that's what I do when I can't call another Conscript squad
his point is when a german squad run pass a abandon team weapon, most time it already lose a man at least and he either can't crew the weapon or if he crew the weapon he lost the entire squad and vet to get a weapon team. it happen a lot when i play german, but when i play russian usually it is not prob because even i lose a man or 2 in middle i still have 4-5 guys |
