If its open beta, can you discuss the changes for those of us not in the know, and too lazy to try |
Raketen isnt that bad, I quite like it.
But on the face of it, seems odd to me to remove shreks when Axis are normally designed around good AT with not so good AI. The opposite being true for allies, they have lots of strong AI options from an early stage, with AT being more of a struggle.
Ost have fausts, shreks, paks, tellars- all very very important.
OKW having just fausts and rakketen does not seem to compare.
Perhaps OKW are supposed to utilize Puma and make up for getting a dedicated AT unit with the SMGs on Volks.
Perhaps that may work. It just seems contrary to all previous axis design templates. |
One thing Ive been trying, is con spam with a sniper or two, and use Tank Hunters Doctrine.
The snipers serve to dish out your real damage, and the cons basically protect them with AT nade and then Heavy AT nades. Dont worry about getting PTRS on them until you face tanks.
Scout cars are quite strong these days, so an obvious counter when you go snipers, normally they can shrug off con squads with AT nades when the Scout cars have support, but the heavy AT nades will let you surprise their light vehicles and keep your snipers doing damage.
Either that or go PPSH, and support with one maxim. Try to use Ppsh squads to outflank and wipe Axis squads on retreat, clumping 2 squads together often works wonders as they are cheap, and the DPS becomes worthwhile then. |
Thanks Brad for all your work.
Its incredibly rare to see a Dev love to play a game they were involved in so much, even after leaving the company. Props for that. |
I think changes are good, and Soviets are balanced without having to spam maxims. You just have to play right |
One thing that I quite like is using German Mechanised doctrine, get a command P4 and Scout car with spotting scope, and at least 2 paks, if not more.
Using the spotting scopes for vision, you can kite emplacements really well with the paks and deal heavy damage fast. Just be careful to micro around any mortar/bofors barrages. Have a half track handy for reinforcing and some pios, and keep repositioning. You can also have a couple mortars to keep the pressure up when you pull your paks back, dont give their repairing troops and easy time.
This doc also allows you to get a LeFH to further put the hurt on them, but its best if youve already got them on the ropes. Just relying soley on Howies isnt that great, cos they are usually too dug in by then.
Once you start demolishing emplacements, his inf might be forced into a counter attack, but thats fine if you have command tank, MGs etc.
Then simply skip T3, and get panthers out asap, as he will try to break your line with cromwells etc
Another idea Ive had but never tried, it could be gimmicky, but if you are playing with a friend who is OKW, try getting him to go Goliaths, build a couple, then use the smoke drop from above doctrine which creates a lane of smoke, to shelter the Goliaths right upto the enemy emplacement. This might be countered well by Brace, so maybe only use just after you have forced a brace by other means.
I love the smoke plane by the way, 40 muni is dirt cheap, and it can be used as a recon pass as well.. which is cheaper than any other recon pass and more utility. |
If they have a soviet ally, then you should have a different plan altogether, you should be double teaming the soviet early on before the brit can lock down more of the map. |
Its OP of course. But seems legit next to some of british stuff. |
I thought armour bulletins for tanks already didnt stack?
Everyone is talking like Panther or P4 armour stacking is OP... Im pretty sure they dont stack right? |
As US, you could try Rifle Doc, use many RE to counter spam their spam, try to deny buildings. Then you can get many flamers, which will do the job.
Soviet, its not that hard to spend your 1st 60 muni on a flamer, support that engie squad with 2 cons squads and merge to keep the flamer in the fight, they wont hang around long.
