Thread: Minefields1 Dec 2017, 19:52 PM I think the intention of minefields is that they function as part of the Ost force as a whole, ie you place them to cover some of your flanks and close down how many angles the enemy can approach from, this works as a force multiplier and also means the easily spottable mines can be protected from sweepers by close by units. Synergy with wire, bunkers, MG42 etc. Sneaking pios onto enemy retreat path to place mines is borderline abuse imo. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: How do I counter mass Penals or Penal Blobs as Ost?30 Nov 2017, 21:31 PM Grens are mostly not really supposed to be spammed on their own, supporting them with MGs is the most fundamental of Ost strats that's why their MG is both strong and easily accessible. Penals are quite easy to bait into throwing satchels which you can then easily dodge, which only drains your opponents munis. I make a habit out of offering juicey targets making sure I'm ready to reposition very fast. You can use S mines also to block certain approach routes to prevent being totally outflank and in effect multiply the effect of each MG42. Put them where it's difficult for him to sweep them, ie you have troops close by covering them. Also can put them on 'blind' spots like between hedges or houses which he will be squeezed through as he tries to flank your positions. In: Ostheer Strategies

Agree with you points about cost, if you do call some in, make the most of them by trying only to call them when they can pop out of a building in an important fight where they can bundled nade a team weapon or something from behind gifting a nice easy and important kill, this can turn an engagement easily, just make sure you have 45muni before you call them. Of course make sure to retreat them and keep them alive and upgrade with weapons later. In some situations its also possible to use the shrek upgrade to skip T2 while you rush T3, esspecially vs light vehicles its great to use sprint with grens to faust and sprint on shrek storms to rush and kill them. I also like the Faust range bulletin to really give your grens the leg up on enemy light vehicles, nobody expects this rush from Ost infantry! In: Ostheer Strategies

I imagine thats to stop it chasing squads down early game and getting too easy wipes, they kinda learnt that from the Kv8 early days. Wasp is supposed to be brits early game garrison counter, not equivalent of soviet clown car. If you really hate fighting wasp, you can use encirclement doctrine simply for 10 muni sprint, use it to easily get grens in faust range. Then later combined with some shrek storms you can do the same vs larger light vehicles, pretty nice against USA, very difficult for the enemy to plan for sprinting axis AT squads. Also I use the +7% range buff for Fauts which really helps vs light vehicles early. In: Ostheer Strategies
Thread: Ask the Strategist!25 Nov 2017, 11:18 AM Another question, maybe tricky to answer: Ost mortar bulletins, there is one for +5% accuracy, and one for +5% accuracy when auto firing. Wouldnt the 'generic' accuracy one stack with the auto fire one to give +10% accuracy and turn it into a heat seaking missile when left to auto fire? I was mostly thinking from a howie perspective bombing emplacements and if it's significantly worth using a smoke plane to give Los when targeting, however from what you say it wouldn't because Los would be lost by the time shells are firing. Thread: Ask the Strategist!23 Nov 2017, 23:17 PM I have a question about using artillery (Howitzers, mortars etc). Given that having some form of line of sight improves accuracy for arty units, does this only count from the moment you click bombard? Or do you need to retain vision for the entire bombardment if you want the accuracy to stay buffed? So if you use a fast recon, order a howie to bomb a mortar pit during the LoS, but then it goes back to fog of war, what will the resultant accuracy be? In: Strategy Desk

This requires more manpower and micro investment from the brit, while also opening up counterplay (prevent them from repairing). The speed and cost of the repair can be sufficient that it remains a strong ability. You could have a unit cap of 1 or 2 squads to prevent it being too OP with sim city. In: COH2 Balance
