Thread: Soviet faction17 Mar 2016, 08:04 AM T-70 used to be real OP when tanks had accuracy on the move and it could ruthlessly wipe squads on retreat. Ever since that change, Ive had less success with it, and found it more risky. But honestly, I put that down to poor user use. I know it can still have a lot of impact. I tend to just choose Su75, and likely get 2. As you dont need more than one ZiS then, possibly even skipping ZiS altogether for the mid game. Its a more defensive unit with long range which clearly is easier to keep alive, and having the barrage ability is deadly for all kinds of situations In: COH2 Balance

You can play them like vcoh USA, spread out, try to cap the whole map, then bring forces together from multiple flanks to overwhelm the concentrated german forces.. I find that a lot easier to execute than playing as Ost. It does depend heavily on what game mode you are playing, and at what level. Anything above rank 500, and soviets are deadly. In: COH2 Balance
Thread: the cure for cancer (aka emplacement)17 Mar 2016, 07:21 AM Brit emplacements are stronk. But most of the time peoples efforts to counter them are unimaginative and lack luster. Given brace, you cant just expect to put a bit of indirect fire in on it and be done with it. Try forcing brace, then move in with army to take out supporting troops, ignore it while its braced. Only use off maps on them as brace wears off, so you always get full damage from them. Try to secure forward areas early in game as its harder for brits to dislodge early buildings. This might result in more defensive mortar pits to dislodge you, which gives you more breathing space on the map. Fast FHT used well can really hurt them and possibly force them to get AEC, locking out bofors and delaying cromwells. Just trying to put constructive counters forward. Arguing weather 2 Ost morats will counter or not is kinda 2 dimentional. In: COH2 Balance

Soviets are one of the best armys they are capable of heaping the pressure on early and keeping it on for quite a while if you play right. But then they have heavy late game tanks, the best available to allies. 120mm is some of the best indirect fire in the game (comes early too). In: COH2 Balance

In short, you could pick this doctrine if you want to troll someone, but it would have to be someone that you could beat without picking a commander anyway. You missed the point of my original post. I was saying the only real reason to pick the doctrine is for the combined arty barrage at 100 muni.. and NOT to use that vs base structures. Use it against enemy fortifications like MGs in critical buildings... Sometimes they can be a huge pain to face as brits, but this simple ability which comes early at 4 CP will easily deny and destroy any ambient building.... this, for me, is the sole reason to go Royal Arty. It can have an immense impact of the flow of the game from quite early on. I also said I was using against OST, never against OKW. If you wanted to destory base buildings, other doctrines have better tools. In: UKF Strategies

Thread: Soviet Industry Balance Preview. 29 Nov 2015, 18:30 PM No counter play to gaining more fuel. Most abilities have the option for opponent to react to it, like smoke on arty etc etc. Industry isnt used much anymore because the MP debuff is crippling, you have to spam T34s, which are very easily countered by a lot of AT. A very strong way to use Industy, which only works in team games, is to spam SU85s, fronted by a KV8 or two, and backed by 1-2 katys... but thats very difficult to get to with just baseline inf, maybe if you got a T70 and T34 first. But Id much rather be able to play with KV2 with an infantry heavy build, because thats what gives more solid map presence allowing the KV2 a solid base. In: COH2 Balance
