Maybe Relic should just make a paid DLC MP mode centered on 4v4 team games? So not a regular skirmish, but rather something designed to be fun and balanced with teams of four.
I would buy it gladly.
Maybe some cmdrs especially design for Allied in 4vs4 would help and would be faster than having a new game mode ? |
That would help. But Allies in 4vs4 would still need some love. |
Well said !!! Those like Katitof don't really like Coh2 cause with their attitude alienating a huge part of the player base, they are killing the game... fast. They are shooting themselves in the foot (with an mp40) without even know it. How lame....
But knowing how corporate staff like money, they will pressure the devs to fix the game, it's just a matter of time. Just go play another game and come back when there is a meaningful patch fixing the 4vs4 allies side.
Thanks.
P.S : 4vs4 don't need to be perfectly balanced, but it just need to be enough fun to worth playing it... |
COHO was the game i played the most in my life !!!!!, it's was so good, When it close it left a huge hole in my life lol. The 4vs4 was awesome !!!! the battles were epic !!!! It revenue model was just too in advance for it's time and THQ was already in bad shape so they cut it. Coh2 could benefit from many aspects of COHO.... Boy i miss COHO. |
Well i think that most of posters don't have understood the problem.
The allies side of 4vs4 is nearly empty, we used to play around 5 to 10 (4vs4) games a day, now, we don't don't play anymore.
Why : Because wining on allies side is now nearly impossible unless you play vs axis noobs. Before we were able to win at least 50% in great epic matches.
Now, the fun is over. The new meta in (4vs4) favored Axis too much. We don't want a perfect balance, but just a bit more then now.
Stop talking about ranking in 1vs1 or 2vs2 it's not relevant to the actual problem. Those modes are balanced but 4vs4 is not balanced enough to still be fun.
Reasons of the imbalance in 4vs4 (I've made many posts about that topic) :
In sort:
-German have overall better units.
-Fuel resources being shared bring heavy tank to fast into the game on the Axis side. If we tech for tanks to fast then Axis inf. will crush us.
-OkW flak base + howitzer can defend a zone easily permitting concentrate attack elsewhere.(By the time US or SOV have the units to kill it, heavy tanks roll out)
-German Strafing is powerful forcing allied to spend fuel (AA def) delaying their tanks. Strafing cost munitions only...
-And many more...
Maybe i'm all wrong and only a small number of people play 4vs4 so we don't really matter. Anyway i won't play COH2 anymore, until meaningful changes are made to improve 4vs4 balance.
Thank you. |
We just want to have 4vs4 made FUN, not fully balanced. It's just not fun anymore. The balance gap is now to wide. Can you understand that ?
Allies need to have some hope of winning. But at even skill, Axis will win nearly all the time now. So nobody want to play allies.
Can you also understand that some people have bought the game for it's 4vs4 component ? That they feel robbed of their favorite game ?
I hope someone of influence will understand. (Mr. Duffy ?

Do look on my playercard and see I play all faction, and considering my rank I don't think I suck either, before lecturing me on how to play. I play germans, my ratio is probably around 60/40 in favor of allies (mostly because getting games as Allies is much faster) but I play Axis a lot. I know how they roll. And in my perspective as a part time OKW player, I find the Kubel overpowered.
The problem is that, what you suggest would require Relic redisign the game (or at least WFA) from the ground up. As it is, USF have a late game disadvantage, thanks to the fragility of their vehicles and reliance on vetted rifles, and OKW have a late game advantage thanks to their superior veterancy, bevy of elite infantry and armada of powerful tanks, many of which are non-doctrinal.
The vanilla COH2 armies don't have a significant advantage at any point of the game (as it should be). WFA, however, changed things around and introduced factions that do. With this patch, which buffed both the Sturms and Kubels, Relic changed the dynamic and plugged one of OKW's few weaknesses (so-so early game) and indeed, probably made their early game the single best out of all 4 factions, while not touching the fact that they are hideously powerful once they manage to get the ball rolling. So as Allies, and especially as US, you are often fighting an uphill battle as soon as the game begins, and whis is magnified in team games.

Just imagine it in 4vs4... Reflect perfectly the state of the game.
They could write a book : How dev's stubbornness scraped a good game.
Not willing to admit that balancing 4v4 was crucial to the well being of COH2. |
voltardark - give 2v2 a try. It's way more balanced and still some large battles.
No interest. Me and my friends bought the game for it's 4vs4 component. Only reason.
Now our favorite game is utterly broken.
|
I'm now taking a break of coh2, 4vs4 with allies (my favorite) is now nearly unplayable. I've completely lost faith in Relic's Devs.
Too much selfish comments from the Axis fanboys has made the game in that state.
I hope the game will still succeed without a real 4vs4 allies community.
A+
