I know the pricing of assault grens was and wasn't noted in the notes. Just played 2 games as soviets and still managed to squadwipe a 4 men gren squad using mines. I even watched the replay just to verify this (squad was at 80% health - even though that's currently irrelevant). I inflicted about 10-12 successful mine detonation to German infantry in these games and got just one '4 men' squadwipe. Seems to be lower than before. Maybe they changed something, but with a sample size this small this might be just wishful thinking In: COH2 Balance
Thread: ISU-15229 Apr 2014, 04:59 AM Yes the ISU can be flanked. But on most maps it also HAS to be flanked - right NOW. The ISU is a great area denial tool. It doesn't need to actually kill anything to have a huge impact on the game. If an ISU makes it's presence known even experienced players have to pull way back, ceding large parts of the map to the opponent. How much depends on the layout of the map. As for the flank: Keep in mind 3 things: The flank needs to happen now or within a couple of minutes. If the flank fails (ISU survived) you probably just lost the game. You need to have an army composition that actually allows you to pull off a substantial flank. Example: If you invested into 3 AT guns at a previews point of the game (due to fuel shortage for example) you are pretty much done for. 3 AT guns (quite possibly vetted that late into the game) is a lot of AT. For that to be suddenly obsolete is harsh blow. EDIT: Keep in mind Cruzz knew the ISU would be used. That is a huge advantage as Cruzz could prepare accordingly - these games were all about the ISU's performance. It's not important that Hans won both games - that might have been due to skill or just luck. (Second game was EPIC btw. and also showcased the problems with the new Puma unit.) What is important however is how the game changed once the ISU hit the field. Cruzz was forced to attack the entrenched position of Hans. Simply because Hans was suddenly able to obliterate entire units at will once the ISU got a bead on them - which wasn't too hard given the ISU's range (sight as well as weapon range). I was also amazed to see how easily the ISU vaporizes shotblockes - two shots just about completely removed one of the central (by the middle VP) hedges on "Crossing in the woods". The ISU is a game changer: Setup weapons become obsolete - as for the other units: Attack and/or die! It's no Tiger Ace (pre nerf) but that's still not OK. In: COH2 Balance

Let me put it this way: Though I did stop paying CoH2 couple of weeks ago I don't think relic 'ruined' this game with DLC (balancing team had their work cut out for them ). Gameplaywise it's simply quite different if compared to vCoH (in a RNG sort of way). Some people appreciate this, some don't. The main problem I think isn't the alleged 'toxicity' of some community members but rather that the chosen DLC model prevents or hampers community growth. So I agree - they hamstrung their own game. It's unlikely to change but how the hell do you attract new players if even the english Wikipedia entry for CoH2 claims there is P2W-DLC? Players can purchase new commanders packages that offer additional units and abilities, which have distinct advantages over players who did not buy them. For example for buying the German Commander: Elite Troops Doctrine, a player can field a "Tiger Ace" - a Veteran 3 Tiger Tank.[15] Other commanders like the German Commander: Mechanized Assault Doctrine allow you bring out Assault Grenadiers immediately which basically out gun any soviet infantry for the first few minutes of the game.[16] Cosmetic upgrades are available through vehicle skins and new avatars for the player's account. .. kinda outdated but it's still THERE! Anyway - regarding the original PPSH topic: I like the 'Jaeger Infantry' commander because it's a nice theme, in terms of power it's subpar in 1v1 for obvious reasons.. For those that only get G43s via 'Jaeger Infantry' the G43s are not an easily accessible PPSH counter. I think this is true for a large amount of gamers as new players will not have access without DLC (buying the DCE now is hardly a good idea) and I do have the naive hope that a good chunk of players is equally stubborn regarding MP DLC as I am In: COH2 Balance

Thread: PPSH x3 Aftermath Update22 Feb 2014, 12:25 PM Regardless of the actual pricing and impact of the current incarnation of the PPSH upgrade the G43 has been mentioned several times (in this very thread) as the PPSH hardcounter. I haven't bought any commander DLC and do not plan on doing so. I simply refuse to support this form of monetization in an even remotely competitive game. So, for me the only way to access G43s is the 'Jaeger Infantry' commander (unless I missed something). While I actually like the commander I find it to be a bit lackluster in the current meta. It's extremely munitions hungry, lacks callin units and I've still not quite managed to make camo work properly. In: COH2 Balance
