Ok, I get it now. It certainly is potent tactic vs mid/low skilled players.
I don't think a lot of high-end skilled player would agree. You cannot just chuck few MG's in buildings and expect to win 1v1 game vs good player..
Cons are not exactly useless in good hands....

Thread: Three questions21 Oct 2013, 09:59 AM
1. Soviet bunkers: Would it render balance issues if the Red Army were capable of digging down? I can't see a reason why Soviets shouldn't be allowed to build them. Even Stephennn said in his stream that he doesn't understand why. I also think this would make Soviets more appealing for beginners since we all built sandbags and bunkers back in our first games in CoH1 and holding out for tanks. 1. Germans are not well designed for dealing vs bunkers or HMG's with large firing arc (flanking), so adding bunkers and/or HMG with large firing radius would get exploited by good Soviet players. But I do agree, its a huge problem for beginners that turns them not wanting to play Soviet or at all. P.S. for all you L2P and micro blah blah blah.. Most of you it took a year + of playing as described by OP. Before being even able to deal with HMG with rifles or volks. So at least try to show some sympathy for people who are YOU, from 6-7 years ago. We want them to become COH2 addicts, don't we? 2. Agree, S mines take ridiculous amount of time to place, and you cannot place them exactly where you want. I never feel like I will be able to finish them in time, and I don't really wanna spend ammo on putting mines on uncontested point. Yeah, rarely employ them for those reasons 3. Your question pissed me off, because I thought about command lag delay Bonus question. Your question pissed me off, because I had mental image of terrible pathing my units choose In: COH2 Balance |

Thread: Leaderboard matchmaking system broken?21 Oct 2013, 01:42 AM
What was worrying for me is that I noticed 2 players so far (after replay tool came out) One, was my teamate in 2v2, he was ranked about 5-6 k, after the game. had 0 wins 3 losses (similar stats in all modes), overall rank 12. He spent entire game building M3's and putting Cons and Penals in them (for about 20 min), absolutely clueless. My opponents weren't that brilliant since I managed to fight it out with them for 30 min, until I got overwhelmed by vet2 and vet 3 armor (you guessed it, he charged with his M3's filled with infantry on tanks, losing every single unit to the last model) I got dropped by more then 3000 places, because I assume he was ranked 2-3000 before game, if he dropped as much as me. And our opponents were low ranked. Anyway, what's confusing me: 1. How the hell is he ranked that high to start with, being so clueless 2. Does ELO take any account of damage dealt, kills, point caps, etc or just wins/loss Either way it makes no sense at all 3v3 and 4v4 games, I am almost always lowest ranked 90k-100,000 (with Soviets) Regardless of me having almost every game, highest kill ratio, damage dealt, points caped, etc. Often double that of my entire team combined, yet somehow they are ranked well better than me.......... Had a guy in 4v4 on my team that was ranked about 10,000 when he obviously played the game 4 times (thats how many losses he had) and didn't go through campaign, straight into multiplayer. (absolutely clueless about all aspects of the game, didn't even know he needs to cap points) So yeah, I read a lot of things about Ranks, ELO, how matchmaking works and was always frustrated with unbalanced games. I always attributed that to lack of players searching, but since Replay tool came out. I am suspecting that ELO and leaderboards are just completely broken, and all those explanations from Relic, just bull.... In: COH2 Bugs |
Thread: Garth Ennis should write Tale for DLC20 Oct 2013, 05:01 AM
sadly the story relic told isn't anywhere near as bad as it really was and still is. Uff, I really didn't wanna get involved into this, but anyway. "Although over 21,000 American soldiers were given varying sentences for desertion during World War II, including 49 death sentences, Slovik's was the only death sentence that was actually carried out" Now if Relic made a game depicting poor US soldiers taken from their bed, put on a boat and shipped to WW2 battlegrounds. Sent to attack well defended German bunkers, and poor soldiers either have a choice 1. to charge MG42 and die, or 2.if they run away (desert) they are hunted down by evil military police carrying hanging rope, and hanging them on the nearest tree, imprisoning them or sending them to prison camps Couple that with some movies, showing a stories of poor crying man forced on the plane and jumping behind enemy lines with only a gun and some ammo. And there you go, You desecrate the memories and heroism of thousands upon thousands of brave US soldiers and depict them as cowards who were forced to fight because of evil Poiticians and their military police hanging squads. Pretty sure half of Americans would be pissed of with that game, and war veterans and politicians outraged. (flying plane into World trade center, just a game? not when it strikes near the heart) Slovik's death sentence :His appeal came in January 1945 just as the German counter-offensive, the Battle of the Bulge, was at its peak. Allied forces were near breaking point. It was not, Supreme Allied Commander, General Dwight Eisenhower decided, time to risk seeming to condone desertion. So after considering that, Stalins order 227 doesn't seem that evil, now does it? considering that Soviets had their back against the wall, no where more to retreat. and Nazis plan was to: Exterminate majority of Russians and rest use as slave Labour until they die out US deserters ravaged Paris, raped, killed and stole almost as much as Nazis after Liberation. But you only see french girls blowing kisses and throwing flowers at them.. Like a big Brothel with 30,000,000 prostitutes (maybe why French didn't like Americans that much after ww2? eh) It doesn't mean that all US soldiers acted that way, criminal at home = criminal let of the leash in wartime ![]() Anyway, I am not defending Stalin or trying to say that horrible things aren't done in war, but Cold War Propaganda has left distorted picture of what really happened and why. If it wasn't for Cold War, you would have completely different mental image of WW2 Soviet soldier I hope that sort of gives you idea why Russians are pissed off. (at least thats what I think would piss me off if I was Russian) P.S. I didn't actually play campaign, just going by what I read. Personally I think Relic mixed their Cold war sentiment towards Soviets, when they chose those kind of things as natural thing to add to campaign. Not good choice in my eyes. In: COH2 Gameplay |
Thread: Bringing back different value resource points20 Oct 2013, 03:31 AM
The problem with these changes is it affects mp more then fuel. Getting cut off means you don't have access to mp, which mean you can't get mp based AT like at guns, guards, and pgrens. So if your opponent gets something like an ostwind, t-70, Flamer ht, ac's, and m3's you would be in even worse state then you would be now. Thats what I don't particulary like about COH2. I can dominate the game, control most points, etc. In the end my opponent, isn't hurt that much by my dominance and can still pull out some very strong Call in unit like KV8, Tiger or Elephant. It wont necessarily turn the tide most of the time, but often it will give you well, a undeserved victory..... If you lose map control and can't handle your opponent, you shouldn't be able to hang in there due to lack of penalty. In COH, you could beat someone in 5 minutes completely. In COH2, they just keep pumping units out at same rate you do....... In: COH2 Gameplay |

Relic can't comprehend why Russians are pissed of to start with. I doubt they will do anything about it if they don't even understand where the problem lies. Like most other people who grew up during Cold War, its difficult for them to even comprehend how is it that campaign is offensive when they don't see anything really wrong with it. Thread: Bringing back different value resource points19 Oct 2013, 06:32 AM
Buildings would be problem with high/low resource points.. Since its so hard atm to dislodge unit from building cover. But in general I agree, I am still fighting over points and trying to outcap my opponent, but I really have no idea why. (probably just so used to it from COH days) When I might as well just get fuel and couple of VP points and camp there In: COH2 Gameplay |

Already did a thread with similar observations, so yeah. I can't say, that I appreciate that much rock/paper/scissors dynamic of the game In: COH2 Gameplay |
Thread: Turbo charged arms race18 Oct 2013, 09:50 AM
I just want to point out that the MG42 has an anti-armor ability, Incendiary Armor Piercing Rounds. I don't know how effective it is against anything bigger than a T-70, but it does already exist! Ok, so we have missed the point a bit P.S. If you disagree or wish to add, please do so, but keep in mind context of my opinion instead of picking on specific points. I am aware that adding AP to HMG's would impact on balance, etc.. Do not take it literally, only as how it would change overall feel of the game You obviously like, fast paced teching and units that wipe everything of the field, and that is fine. I personally don't P.S. all those things you mentioned are either ineffective or doctrinal abilities that don't do anything to rock/scissors/paper feel of the game for me.... For me its more please no more 12 different kinds of mortar, airstrikes that kill everything in half map radius for half hour and can't wait for a DLC with Rambo and Chuck Norris (one man army that shoots tanks with arrows) But hey, we all like different things.......... Right now it's not uncommon to see +80% searching games as OH in 2vs2 and up.
