That's the truth,
Maxim is a noob friendly joke that rotating faster than a LMG42 Gren, any noobs can just A move that shit, annoying like fuck, and losing it doesn't need to give a fuck.
MG42 is more likely a trap that need something else luring the Reds into it, definitely more skill is required, and losing it to Soviet is a real pain in the ass. That's why top German player don't even bother to get one. It is not cost effective, suppression cannot bleed manpower, but getting one more Gren instead can. Wonder why the east MG42 is so inferior than the west.
Example situation:
Maxim moving and see a Gren in front, press stop and set up, Gren suppressed
MG42 moving and see a Cons in front, press stop and set up, Cons oohwa, MG42 is fucked
and Maxim spammer is very likely to spam more and more maxim, making a good Gren flank is almost impossible, by the time you can get 222, Zis is on the field already. The high crew number of Maxim can make them a useable weapon to gain a lot of area. MG42/Osttruppen/251 was used to be able to do the same, but the stupid high cost of Osttruppen now making this less effective than pre patched.
What's so hard in flanking Maxim's tiny arc of fire?
I understand you struggle against this unit but it's not because this unit is OP or MG42 under performs.
L2P time. |
Its ok relic knows what they are doing. Obvioisly maxim should be far superior and instant pin capability. Mg42 should remain crap. We dont need germans to be equal to soviets in any respect anymore. Othwrwise the game will be fair. Duhhhh
Oh, cut the crap already will ya?
MG42 is not useless. Period. You simply have no idea how to use it correctly.
Watch some replays and see how other use it. |
Try this: put 2 PG squads with shreks into the halftrack. Try to create a diversion so the ISU 152 cannot see ur ht when u flank it. If u can get behind it with the ht it only will last a few seconds.
I tried this several times and it worked because the ISu is very slow and even more so if he has his scope enabled.
Most players panik once they realize what is happening, making it even more easy for u to get the kill.
That's a great idea. Have to try it |
Are we really having this discussion again after so many months?
Maybe is time to face the truth? If you're unable to utilise MG42 to its full potential maybe the problem lies within you and not the unit design?
Seriously L2P. |
You should never go sniper when facing T1. Both the M3 and sniper excel at killing it. The german sniper is better in all other areas though.
Also grens excel at long range giving them good damage versus sniper at almost all ranges, unlike cons who will usually need to charge a sniper, Grens usually do a lot of damage if they stay focus fire on it as long as they aren't in green cover.
What he said. |
Yes. I think map design is one of the issues with balance in this game. |

You also have people on this page saying that they are equally OP which I find very disagreeable. If we Nerf the ISU like it deserves, we will have to think carefully about what the Elefant will be like in games. If we get ISU range adjustments then we should rightfully reduce Elefant range - they're basically a package deal there. But if we keep ISU range and just reduce it's damage profile a bit to reduce the probability of one shotting squads, I'm not sure the Elefant would need any adjustment to compensate. The ISU would still be an extremely powerful and long range tool useful against all enemy unit types.
Sweeping proposals like adding lockdown abilities, reducing range, increasing scatter, reducing damage of the Ele all going in one big patch are something I vehemently oppose because of how unpredictable it will be on the landscape of the game. We do want to change the 2v2 meta by making alternate strategies more viable. But we have to be careful not to rock the boat too much without thorough testing.,
And that's why you're wrong.
Both ISU and Ele need adjustments. I haven't lost single game in which I managed to field Elephant. No matter how dire it was, ISU or not it didn't matter because I was able to 2 shoot any Soviet armour from across the map without even getting close to real danger. How can you say it's not OP? As a German I'm not worried about Cons because my usually vet3 or 2 Grenadiers are more than enough to deal with them. The only thing I worry and can threaten me are Soviet tanks and with Elephant that's not a problem anymore. You say use ZiS? Bring it on. I use grenadiers and flank them with my tanks while Elephant will be 2 shooting Soviet tanks? How can you even consider this being OK?
If you want to only change ISU and leave Ele alone than I'd say f...k it. ISU is fine. |
You know what's the irony about this topic?
The balance still slightly favours Germans.
I'd recommend to change the name of this topic to:
"I am terrible at this game. Please help."
Also Soviets are more accessible to the beginners at the moment. Maybe it would be good for some to change the faction? |

FYI
I retracted my original statement latter in this topic.
What I disagree however is the statement that only ISU should be adjusted and there is nothing wrong in Elephant prised by some of the more vocal German supporters on this forum. |
Pure nonsense.
Absolute shit.
ISU-152 penetration is 230. Elefants frontal armor IS 400!
That's a 57% to penetrate.
Tigers armor is 300
76% chance to penetrate.
Panthers armor is 270
that's an 85 percent chance to penetrate.
Keep in mind that range is not taken into account.
Elephants gun has 400 penetration. It can reliably penetrate every . single. soviet tank 100% of the time.
The highest soviet tank is the IS-2 with 351 frontal armor.
Also i have 0 clue why SSheini is complaining about cover meaning less.
THere have been ZERO adjustments to cover.
Honestly, i really hope relic knows what they are doing and wont fuck up again having listened to people like SSheini... Who told us that G43 grens lose to ppsh conscripts 100% before the march deployment. Who said that the game needs minor adjustments and even then complained because the soviets had OP things during march deployment and now they are complaining like crazy because they cannot spam grens and actually have to use tactics to win...
Also, FYI conspam is supposed to be feasible. Con spam is one of the ways the soviet faction is supposed to be played. Now obviously LOL SOVIETS OP BECAUSE THEY CAN DO THIS AND GERMANS CANT.
Ever heard of assymetrical faction design?
Relic themselves said that SOVIET TIER UNITS ARE TO BE MORE EFFECTIVE THAN GERMAN ONES BECAUSE GERMANS WILL ALWAYS HAVE THE COUNTER AVAILABLE TO THEM.
Also lol someone thinking stugs were nerfed... Jesus dude.. WTF....
Also is someone complaing that shock troops are too effective?
Let me tell you how to counter shock troops.
You need to buy 2 grenadier squads OR you can get an LMG 42 on your grenadier squad. Unless its a close quarter map, shock troops have no chance.
Panther is only not worth it now due to call ins being too dominant. If anything it got a buff. At long range it nearly beats an IS-2 due to higher penetrationl.
In 1v1 the game is almost balanced. The only issues right now are soviet mines, ISU-152, and ele (in team games)
