And assault grenadiers still call for grenadiers.
Its same unit with different weapon kit.
Grenadier translates to rifleman. So its a basic description i guess and the assault differentiates it. You would propably call them Sturmsoldaten or Stoßtruppen. As Sturmtruppen is reserved for the Stormtroopers. |
It's cheaper but by barely noticeable amounts. I don't think the stug III G is worth it anymore with all its nerfs.
Maybe switch them? Make the E the standard anti-something buildable one and the G an anti-tank doctrinal one? |
Overall, I think the STug III G is nerfed since its AT performance is now downgraded to the Panzer IV. It has no turret and cannot pen T-34 front armor....not good, not good. I think its infantry DPS/scatter is similar to the old stug III E/Panzer IV C. It's better against infantry than before but NOT THAT much better. So I still think that the Panzer IV is the main tank killer of T3.
Shame, really. Was such a nice trio. Ostwind vs infantry. PzIV vs Inf and Tanks. And StuG vs Tanks.
Now it's also somewhere between good vs Inf and Tanks but without the turret and no armor and still a target size of 20. Cheaper though. |
So the T34 has better AI then the Ostwind?
Against 4 men squads which run in the open towards it, yes. The ostwind has a better rate of fire. Though the stats page says it's splash damage is only 2 (other tanks have 2.5) it perceives higher. |
Oh ok, thats what you meant. I didn't consider this, because I think its hiiighly unlikely that grens die before they get a faust of, after frontally running at an T34.
They run at the tank. The first shell kills 2 guys. the panzerfaust animation starts. The topgunner shoots the guy who started the animation, the other guy starts the animation, maybe he gets the shot off, you shift+t'ed, he runs, but the 2nd tank shell gibs him on his retreat if not sooner. |
I know, but still, I think Relic's logic here is it's called an assault gun, thus it's an assault gun.
Ironically there is nothing to assault. The Soviets have no hard points or bunkers and they can't take down buildings faster than any other big barreled unit. Though they have better MG42s and HEAT shells they explode really fast if you try to assault a combined force of mgs and AT-guns because those will hurt them badly which means that they can't project their firepower on the MGs and conscripts guarding the AT-gun. So. If there is nothing to challenge them or there is a screen of other tanks maybe then they can perform better I might think.
The Puma is great. It's gun is powerful, ideal for flanking big tanks. They die as quickly as a scout car which makes them cost/effective only in the right hands. |
The Puma is nice. Deals good damage, has HEAT shells too. Good vs. SU-85s. Turret turns so slowly though... |
Also, are there any plans to buff the PG bundled grenade ? By golly, does it suck. I can throw one right in the center of an exposed MG crew, and only kill one guy.
+1 It rarely is worth the munitions investement. To think that it was used as an anti-tank device (gameplay>realism). |
Thats the sad thing, although they are simple things they dont implement them. Take for example hold fire, people have been asking for it since beta. Finally it is showing up with this patch on some units.
Oh, yes thanks for that. I would have gone further. That tanks ignore infantry completley so they won't turn their turret every time a squad pops up behind them for a second. And they only attack them if ordered by the player or with an attack move command. |
gj, and it would be awesome if it's implemented in game, but something tells me they will find a negative excuse like "confusing to average players".
But it is already an option (is it?). To enable the flavor text in the box or not. This turns the box from a fun facts box to an empy space at the moment. Could be a simple and advanced option. With easy/casual text (This is a heavy tank) or the exact number for advanced players or reference in replays and vods/shoutcasts. |
