Link0 is correct. Pgrens are too much of a manpower drain. Especially considering that there's an excellent chance that a bad RNG roll with a mortar, grenade, etc. will wipe out the entire squad.
Lol is this thread a joke? Pgrens are very easy to deal with even with just conscripts. They are just huge manpower sinks.
LMG grens are IMO, so much better. |
The Tiger definitely needs a buff for cost. I would recommend a range buff. |
It's pretty much the only game I play. Relic has taken the approach of tweaking balance for CoH2 rather than huge nerfs and buffs experienced in DoW2 -- it's an improvement. They're continuing to tweak every now and then and add commanders every couple months that introduces unique units and strategies to the game. As long as Relic continues to ignore all the knee-jerk reactions from the community and continues to improve the game, you can't go wrong imo. |
I am not at all surprised that you think that.
Nobody is asking for this unit to win the game, they are simply objectively acknowledging the unit could use a slight buff.
Even in 2v2, I often manage to make my 222 survive untill the end. And it usually gets about 2 stars.
It's a marginally effective unit for sure. It won't win you the war, but more like thin the ranks of your enemy, making it an easier go for the rest of your army
I think you guys are demanding too much of such a cheap unit. |
Shocks and Guards definitely need to go back to 2CP; there are some pretty OP builds no involving these units.
All that being said - sure Shocks can be beaten that early in the game, but I personally dislike the effect that 1 CP shocks/guards on have on the pace of the game. The past few patches have eroded the sense of "early game" that is so dear in CoH. I personally love/enjoy playing and seeing vanilla Grenadiers fighting vanilla Conscripts for the first few minutes of a game. (Don't read this as me justifying gren spam or con spam, I'm not). I love seeing the "dance" for cover and better positioning, trying to lure enemy squads into MG fire, or into bad positions. These early game engagements can really set the tone for the rest of the match, and have the potential to make matches more unique and dynamic. You can be aggressive and go for early cut-offs, you can play more defensive and try to control your own half of the map etc etc.
Elite infantry coming so early really negates this aspect of the game. Shock troops fighting vanilla grens really don't care about cover or positioning, you just right click them next to the Gren squad and watch them shred the grens to pieces. The only thing you have to really worry about is an MG42, and even then you have smoke grenades and Oorah on your Cons to flank.
So yes, they may be counter-able this early in the game, but it isn't fun to play against, it erodes the early game to being even shorter than it already was, and simplifies the game even further.

Joker, almost all of your posts of heavily favored for buffing Soviets and nerfing Germans, but lately you've gone from extreme to ridiculous.
Wanna bet?
Give them LMG or G43 and they are more of a challenge...

Great post Stoffa. I enjoyed your contributions in vCoH as well.

I agree SU85 should not be able to snipe infantry like it does. Considering its cost and role, it should be just as bad if not worse than Panthers in killing infantry. |
After just trying the Tiger Ace, all I can say is no way.
You better mean that the Su-85s were killed over the period of the game or that his Tiger Ace was heavily supported by a bunch of ATs or Panzerschrecks.
Otherwise just leave your posting privileges at the door. What a joke.
ONE TIGER ACE KILLED 4 SU-85S THAT I HAD SUPPORTED WITH MY INFANTRY. TIGER ACE OP OUT OF ITS MIND, CONFIRMED. GOOD JOB RELIC! |
I respect Link0's opinion. I remember him from CoH1 and he generally knows what he's talking about; however, the Tiger Ace does not sound like an instant-win unit to me. Let's wait and see how it plays out.
A tank with the power of 2 tigers is a fair trade-off for cutting off income for the rest of the game, and you can't exactly dominate the whole map when all that power is contained within one single unit. It can only be in one place at a time and only shoot one target at a time.
The problem is when you call in the Ace right before you do an all out all or nothing attack. Who cares about income when you just completely wipe out their army. A tank with the power of 2 Tigers is insane.
