Haha me too. Odeng only built 3 bags for me. I was lucky to intercept it early enough in game for it to be a game breaker.
I find people like to do it on maps like minsk or pripiyat.
But im guilty of doing ghost wire when I need to finish the last bit quickly =[ but still, ghost sandbags are done so much faster =/
That same guy did it to me too. |
I would also like to see that. Provided the players are at least a decent skill level.
EDIT: Link0, I see you are rank 44 germans and rank 47 soviets. I immediately have more respect for your opinion and I would now really like to see a replay of how you use stugs (also against su85's) please please. I really love the stug and would like to learn how to use it better in its current state.
Okay, I'll remind myself to save some replays. I'm not lying that I use them in about 1/2 of my games as German. |
The Stug does not need buffs of any kind. I use them effectively very often in 1v1. They are fairly cheap and counter T34s remarkably well. The recent nerfs to the SU85 have really made them quite fair.
You cannot make Stugs too powerful because they come out of the same building as P4s and Ostwinds. It would make T3 a one stop shop for all your needs. The soviets when going T4 essentially gives up the T70/T34, which is a really big deal.
Comparing Stugs vs SU85s in a vacuum is just extremely short sighted when they each operate as part of a combined army and each hold a unique place in their respective tech trees. |
All call in tanks are relatively cost-inefficient because they don't require teching. The savings in tech must be factored into the cost of the call-in. The most efficient use of them involves staying on T1-T2. |
It's really only a problem with the Armored Car, which is too cheap right now (and thus have very low vet requirements). |
Stugs are quite good. I often make them to counter heavy Soviet T3 play. They definitely do not need any more buffs.
They are very cheap to build, so you cannot expect them to be as good as a P4 or Su85. They own T34s, for cost. |
Is the Tiger a viable option against SU-85s?
The problem of going directly to a doctrinal tank is that your opponent can then go to a fast T3, with T70s and T34s. In that case, pak's and schreks are your friends.
EDIT: Also, how many SU-85s can an Elephant take head-on? Definitely 1, definitely not 3. Can it take 2?
It can easily beat 2 head on, but not 3 unless you get a few shots off before they get in range (which is actually pretty typical). |
Elephant is definitely the best solution to SU85s. Since SU85s (and the T4 building in general) can't really do anything to infantry, you should be able to just stay on infantry for a long time while saving fuel for the elephant. |
Don't use Penals unless you are toying with your enemy. If they could be build from the HQ immediately, they would be at least be moderately useful.
They beat Grens, yes, just like PGs beat conscripts. However, they will lose badly to Grens with LMGs (for cost).
The problem is that penals don't have Orrah, or AT nades on top of needing the T1 building. |
Buildings are "safe" until a single mortar shot takes out a building with 80% hp. The RNG strikes again. |
