Yeah, thats all you try to do as Soviet anyway. Try to be as aggressive as possible, and try to crush Germans in early game and bleed as much VP as possible. Keep Panthers damaged and ineffective, you can win a game with Soviets. Its not like its impossible as long as you stop them from getting that critical mass. (Damn hard to do tho) Cause often Germans will do spectacular comeback even tho they had no map control entire game and lost every engagement (mostly because they are just stalling till armor and heavy call-ins)
This is pretty untrue. If anything, Germans have a marginally stronger early game due to LMGs and the generally shittiness of conscripts. Things then favor Soviets for a bit when 1CP hits, due to Guards and 120mm mortars.
Late game is quite equal in both 1v1 and 2v2s. |

This is the problem with people that only play one faction. It's really impossible not to be biased. It's human nature to think we are great players and we only lose because our own faction is weaker. |
cept grens are better than cons in every way
and someone answer me this
if a conscript squad was on 1 squad member left, and reinforced 5 to get a full squad
would it cost more or less with a gren squad who had to reinforce 3?
Assuming that was not a retorical question: Cons are 20/man to reinforce. Grens are 30.
20x5=100 for conscripts
30x3=90 for grens |

Both T34-85s and Stugs are a bit underpowered right now. But common guys, let's not go overboard with the buffs. |
Wait, how do maxims counter Ostruppen? One is a call-in at T0, while the other comes out of a building that costs 240/40 and takes almost a minute to build.
When the first maxim comes out, there should already be 6 ostruppen on the field (or more realistically 3 ostruppen and a sniper). |
Do NOT go M3s. You are just asking for a quick AC to waste your investment. Going AssGrens means they skip T1 completely and will have T2 in no time.
Just play smart with conscripts. They are cheaper than AssGrens, so you can't expect to beat them 1on1. Conscripts are much better at range though, so you can force AssGrens to charge your position where you can bring in another conscript squad.
Move away or enter a house (but not retreat) from Assgrens any time it's a 1on1 situation.
Assgrens are also not too useful in buildings due to their poor range, so take advantage of that. |
The ninja nerf to Stugs this last patch sucked (targetsize from 14 -> 20). They were at a perfect position prior. |
I just played against Barton's ostruppen to sniper to T2 build. It's incredibly hard to beat. Ostruppen are the perfect capers and are incredible meat shields at allow snipers to run amok.
Even my tanks don't do much to ostruppen that can be cheaply reinforced with a HT and just camp corners to faust me all over the place with a Pak to finish. |
I don't know, since I haven't played that much with or against Osttruppen, but purely from their stats they seem extremely cost efficient.
For 240 MP, you get units with 576 effective HP (20% more than Conscripts) and potential DPS equal of 160% of Conscript potential DPS (without cover - it's up to 320% if all squad members would be in cover).
They are obviously more vulnerable to splash/explosive weapons (due to lower HP of a single entity).
Still, it's only a "paper" look on them - they might work somewhat differently in game than their stats would suggest.
The fact that they have more and cheaper models also makes them LESS susceptible to splash since you lose less MP for a given grenade.
Even at 1/2 capping speed, they are still far more effective at capping than anything else in the game since travel time is more of a factor than capping speed.
They need a bigger nerf. |

Wow, talk about some ridiculously over the top buffs. Something that has the same cost as a P4, but more hp, more armor, better accuracy (far lower scatter), better AI (see scatter), higher penetration, and zero build time? Seriously? Who would even consider building a normal T34-76 after that. Although not quite there yet, you are risking becoming a Soviet Nullist.
BTW, your calculations left out accuracy and scatter. The T34-85 has a tiny scatter so almost never misses tanks. It also makes it far more accurate vs infantry.
The T34-85 needs only a small buff to EITHER rate of fire or penetration to be fair for its price. Allowing it to be called in one at a time would also be a nice buff. |
