Actually it could be much more. You get at least 1 rifle squad (270), 2 AT (maybe 1 of them is an m8) which can bu 560-600, and an mg/mortar/ranger/rifle. Total you can have 1070 to 1270 mp worth for the cost of 800. But you might get 3 units instead of 4 where you are sure to get shortchanged. But I have never had this happen to me though I have seen it in casts. I don't know how that mechanic works.
It may have something to do with the pop cap, still even then you could have 3 units on the field instantly, no need for fuel too which is always a good thing.
Ironically, I find that Armor doctrine can get one into trouble if they are fighting PE 'tank destroyer' doctrine.
Well basically you go Armor for the Cali, everything else is just a bonus. |
If you don't have advantage early game then you should get M8 first, not bars, it'll slow down your tech considerably and leave you vulnerable to MG lock down with snipers, and later Axis armor.

Try not to let him set up strong defense in the first place. If you can do that rifles and flame engin is enough to handle them: drop off map arty on the MG and flank those snipers.
In case his position is all set, go cap elsewhere, put some mines down, get M8 out as fast as you can and go Armor right hand side or go WSC for countersniping.
I'm not a big fan of getting a us sniper for countersnipe measures as if you lose it, you're pretty much dead.
You're right, but if you can't win fast then an US sniper is pretty much required for you to hang onto the game, except if you go Armor.

well vs PE it's probably the "worst"
Not really, rangers are pretty good against PE and OMCG is ok too.
Infantry is the good all round US doc, but if you can hang on to late game without losing then Armor is the best. |
Yes, Puma spam with vet is dangerous if uses right, sherman and AT gun just does not cut it sometimes that's when you really need M10/M18 (M18 is best for this role). |

We do t2 (me and him).
Me, I take def and do 3 gren squad with Schreks.
Him, He takes blitz, and he do fast Stuka. At the begin he do MG & snipes, me I do 1 mg, 3 volks and vet 2.
It's good, maybe a bike for counter snipe if your opponents go Barrack + WSC. You have to win the sniper war or else you'll lose.
And am I the only to find that grens squad with 2 schreks are more better & powerfull than 2 squads with each 1 schrek?
Me too, it's easier to micro and can surprise your opponent. But there's always some cons. |
Yeah, if not for the missfire bug i would prefer the M10 too, but the bug just ruins it for me. M18 is still much more reliable when dealing with Panzer 4, Ostwind, Puma and other light vehicles. |
M18 seems to require more micro (stealth) than the M10. I found the M18 to be worse than the M10 in team games (3 v 3)
The M18 in game is bigger than M10 so it's harder to micro, especially in rough terrain. That with better penetration make it a better rushing unit than M18.
Oh and when you try to take on expert AI (no sniper, no AT gun, no doctrine, no early base rush, take no more than half the map, fight with only engineer, rifler, mortar and M10/M18), the M10 perform clearly better against Axis heavy armors spam |
Depends. Even with the bug shoot you need the extra penetration in 2vs2.
If you want to rush enemy heavy tank with AWM of course M10 is better, but if you play any different way then M18 is better.

I got to say that I like the M10's higher pen, so the shooting bug doesn't bother me. I find that the M18/76 bounces noticeably more.
But M18's rate of fire is higher, no missfire bug and higher top speed and vision mean it's better than M10 when dealing with anything which not a heavy tank. And as American it's not like you can rely on your armor vs late game Axis tank, except if you go Armor doc but if your opponent let you go Armor and still hang out to late game then you're winning anyway.
Not choose M18 because
- its size is bigger causing some patching problem, while flanking axis panzer, they may block each other for some unknown reason
- its MG upgrade is worthless
Really? I think its MG is as powerful as M8 and Sherman's? Just that it's a bit risky to spend 75 munition on a fragile tank destroyer. |
