This is balanced by Raketens having low range and DPS compared to other AT guns, and JP4 being the most expensive non-superheavy TD.
Granted, the JP4 phasing issue needs to be fixed, the cloak is fine. Maybe make it easier for infantry to detect so that supporting troops can protect your armor better, but no more than that. |
I'm actually just fine with british off-maps, even though I play mostly axis. They serve a purpose that can change the game, and not just any average artillery barrage.
...As for the British Air Superiority, It would be fine to be restored back to pre-nerf state, but maybe with a little bit more time to move your units out of the way if you're paying attention to them.
This is not a design I want to see in the game.
Offmaps should serve a purpose to support your army. They should not be ultra powerful army sweepers. I already think British Arty Cover and Ostheer Stuka Close Air Support are OP because one click allows you to do massive damage to an enemy army. Restore Air Superiority to anything near pre-nerf state and give Ostheer something that clears an entire screeen and is utterly uncounterable for Brits and their settlements, and yeah, Company of Offmaps will start to be real in 2v2+.
Railway Arty already does what it is supposed to do, create big holes where you point it at. It already one-shots unbraced emplacements. Anything more is redundant, I think, and one-shotting braced emplacements, no matter the cost, is lame because it allows no opportunity for counter play. |
Nope. I'm playing Company of Heroes, not Company of Offmaps. |
Penals better be stronger than rifles and/or more versatile if they cost 300 MP and require a dead-end tech building. I'd also give them an option for an AT upgrade, such as a lend-lease bazooka, unless the Soviets have another handheld AT weapon than the PTRS. A big part of T1's problem is that it has no AT whatsoever, which is fine vs Ostheer but is just asking for Luchs-flavored buttkicking vs OKW.
Conscripts should stay with their current price and stats, I don't want them to do even less damage than they presently have. I'd rather give them a big more damage with vet, at the cost of some of their current received accuracy. Being tough doesn't much matter when their DPS is still shit even at vet 3. |
If I show this poll to my statistics professor, he'd probably have a heart attack from all the pure, unadultered bias. |
Lovely replies, I do love the Axis bias, I'm really ashamed to be part of OKW. Stuka and Pwerfer killing stationary? Axis solution: Get less stationary weapons as Allies.
Calli killing stationary weapons - Axis solution: Nerf of GTFO.
*slowclap*
A big difference is that unless it's a Soviet player going for heavy T2, Axis (especially Ostheer) relies more on support weapons than any other faction by necessity.
What I find OP on the Calli is its armor. Normal rocket artillery dies to a sneeze, these things take a pounding from even heavy tanks, making drive bys much less effective.
Doesn't help that the low CP cost (10) means they arrive too soon. It should be 12. The entire doctrine is just crazy strong at the moment. |
5kg bag of explosives =! nade.
If relic thinks it should do nade-like damage to buildings, then they should replace it with normal nade as current satchel is utterly useless.
Basically, yeah.
A satchel charge that has an incredibly short range, 3 second fuse time, and does not destroy buildings has no use against anyone who isn't comatose.
Whenever it is a bug or a feature, it's still silly. This is a big stonking bag of explosives, usable only on one (already mediocre) specialist unit, with a 45 ammo cost and crappy range. If it can't damage buildings, what the heck is its intended use? The one game in a hundred where Axis bothers to build bunkers and doesn't defend them properly? |
they're shit doctrines but the m-42 is actually very good against (and nothing else) OKW light vehicles, up to and including the lusch.
the price creep isn't an issue specific to soviets though. OKH grens are pretty bad, particularly early game, because they're cheaper and weaker than riflemen and IS but not enough cheaper to make enough more to counter riflemen and IS.
The M-42 is useful for a minute or two, and then you're hamstrung by an utterly terrible doctrine that gives you no late-game infantry whatsoever. Hope you can use that Dushka, because nothing else can save you later on.
I actually find Grens to be reasonably priced, and worth their weight in many cases. Certainly, you can use them as mainline infantry far more than conscripts if you stick to cover and upgrade them; with G43s they can tackle anything short of fully upgraded rifles or shocks. |
What urban maps in 1v1? Sturzdorf?
veto it.
La Gleize Breakcout?
veto it.
Unless if your strat is to spam shocks/cons w/ ppsh, you're going to have a tough time with maxims. Every faction has a tough time in urban maps because the time required to move units out of danger is dramatically decreased because of building entry/exit times and los blockers.
Spamming Conscripts hasn't been effective for a few months now. Maybe with Advanced Warfare you can pull it off but it's just a huge mp drain.
I play some 2v2 too, there are more urban maps there. I just adjust my build order on them and rely more on conscripts, I tend to go Shocks only if I'm losing and need them to clear out Volks ASAP because Guards serve as a deterrent to the Luchs/Puma and PPSHs are way less MP intensive while being almost as good with some veterancy. |
Early game vs OKW is Maxims or bust. Conscript spam gets outmuscled by Sturms and Ubervolks, Penals are too expensive for what they do and scale badly, sniper is too expensive, and M3 is Shreck fodder, and going T1 leaves you wide open for Luchs butthurt anyway.
SO what I do is get 2 conscripts (for capture/AT nadin') and 2 Maxims, 3 if I suspect some serious Volksblob action. If I am on an urban map, sometimes I get a 3rd Script for eventual PPSHs, but more often I transition into AT nades and AT gun fast to counter the Luchs, with Guards serving as my frontline units.
It's still a crapshoot, and I think the matchup favors OKW, but winning is doable. |
