I agree that NKVD should be changed slightly, but I think early game call-ins could make the doctrine too strong early game. Knowing what your enemy is going and have an counter that you can call in instantly might be a bit too much.
I think T-34/85s instead of the IL-2 strafe might be better though. |
If you think dumbing down the entire gaming industry and reducing the overall quality of production of games as the good price to pay for "great" and "convenient", good for you.
I, for one, will stay with my 600€ PC that can run every game your console can run and do more besides and for longer.
The great thing about a software or hardware problem with a PC is that you can fix them.
When I play video games, I want to play with my friends. Now I can either convince my friends to get new computers that can run new games, teach them how to hook up the new equipment they have, teach them how to use their operating system with relative skill, teach them how to troubleshoot, as a lot of recent games have been poorly optimized or are filled with bugs day one, and go through a massive amount of hassle just installing and setting the shit up.
Or I can say get a copy of GTA V on xbox and we can play together.
I personally like gaming on PC but it's definitely not for everyone, and there's always something to be said for sitting down on a couch with your friends and playing some console games. |
pak and ZIS arent facing the same units so you cant just do the math like that
Couldn't have said it better myself. The pak seems better for Russians because they want a faster at gun to take out medium german armor, where the ZiS seems better for Germans because they want a AT gun that can also function as a support unit. Grass is always green on the other side I guess.
P.S. I like the ZiS gun. Barrage is sweet, and ambush camo, even though it's doctrinal, is pretty good. |
Even as a German player, you guys are being wayyyy baised towards Germans. AT nades are supposed to be a soft counter to medium tanks, it's the same as stickies from VCoH. Stickies are good at dealing engine damage to medium tanks, but often reflect off heavier tanks like Tigers and Panthers. However, just like VCoH if the Russian is lucky it can sometimes penetrate and do engine damage.
If AT nades didn't penetrate on medium tanks reliably, there would no way of stopping them besides su-85s, which is just stupid. We get Panzershreks and fausts, and they get AT Nades and an AT gun that has barrage. Seems fair to me. |
Not moscow outskirts.
Edit: But really not sarcastic that level sucks a fat one. |
For me here works 6xconsripts start. First and second consript im sending to capture houses near fuel, then im sitting here. Others 4x consripts capturing and attacking. Meanwhile saving fuel for t34, in that time im buying AT guns. So here i spam consripts, AT guns with T34. P.S. Im going Rifle guard doctrine for Ppsh and artillery.
He said it. Go the VonIvan unbeatable Soviet strat. Shit out conscripts like it's your job, and cap all over the map. Go molotovs if they're camping buildings/ going MG-42. Get AT nades if they go fast 251/222. Your main priority should be cutting off and harassing their fuel. Fuel fuel fuel fuel fuel, can't stress this enough. With 5-7 conscripts + a combat engi you should have more than enough to both hold 1 fuel and harass their's continually.
Then tech t2 to t3 and get a fast T-34 or T-70 depending on the situation at that point. It's very similar to how Americans played this map in VCoH. Utilize your superior numbers to outcap the German and keep them moving around the battlefield. If you're completely base locked, I'd recommend going 120mm mortar to dislodge their mgs then push out ASAP, but you're really looking to be harassing so much it prevents them from getting you into a base lock situation as they have to move units around the map to recap.
Oh and mine up if you have spare munitions, it can really prevent a base lock before it even happens if their MG loses 2 guys before they even make it to the cut-off. |
Hearing all this is a major fucking bummer. I seriously loved Rome 1, sunk at least a hundred or so hours into it easy play as every faction, playing LAN battles with my friends, the expansions etc. Seeing how broken this is on launch is just sad.
I know developing a game is surely a nightmare and issues will happen when you release it in an open market, but how is the AI seriously that broken? Like did they release the wrong version of the game? I can't even see how the publishers had the company release it in the version I'm seeing. The publisher wants to make profits, and they won't make nearly as much if the game gets terrible word of mouth from it's core fan base.
This sucks man, this is such a bummer. Fuck. Hope GTA V isn't like this on release. |
Last night on Sib's stream was literally, and I'm not exaggerating this, 4-5 hours of the funniest shit I have ever seen and heard in my entire life. Not only that, but his stream is highly entertaining both in commentary and on a gameplay level on a regular basis.
Could not recommend a more entertaining stream. 10/10 would krebs again.
Also he whipped ass in the most recent tournament. |

The metagame hasn't evolved yet to the point of a stable narrative. I think after 2-3 patches we'll be able to tell how they want things to play out, for now the balance isn't there to say which faction has advantages when.
Right now, cut-off play and who controls the resources through-out the game is really the most important thing to victory, as there are no MP tank call ins, and AT guns are shite. As such fuel/munitions are the most important thing in the game, whoever can control those wins usually.
This compared to VCoh where the US could no fuel all game but still build AT guns and rangers and pretty successfully fend off Wehr tanks, where now even while guards and ZiS guns are ok at deterring Ost tanks, 1 well microed Ostwind can take out both of those units. |
