I agree that call-in tanks are going to be the backbone of your armor as Soviets, but late game you will still generally need T3 or T4. As you said, IS2 needs mobile AT support, T34-85 needs artillery/AI support to counter PAKs and Shreks. But I agree that right now T3 or T4 alone cannot beat a german army, unless you have significantly more fuel than your opponent. |
If your opponents have 8 panthers, brumbars and p4s, you should have a metric fuck ton of SUs or ISUs. Panthers cost more fuel than SU-85s, and are outranged by them. They're advantage is in their speed and being turreted. If panthers costed even more you could have 2 SU-85s to 1 panther, and Germans would never be able to flank Russian defenses. |
The closest I've gotten to a reliable strat is 4 Con - molotov - more cons. Get AT Nades when you see the first light vehicle. Then late game is all about commanders. Prioritize munitions over fuel early game. Munis mean molotovs, AT nades, ppshs, oorahs, mines. Fuel means jack shit until 9 cp anyway. Usually I'll go Advanced Warfare against P4s, and shock rifle against everything else. After your first or second call-in tank get a t3/t4 building for long term sustainability.
If you're really losing the fuel game or the CP game then get T2 for AT guns.
During combat remember oorah is your best friend this patch. Sprint cons up to grens to actually do damage, or run away from g43 squads. Spam molotovs in almost every conflict. |
Nope. They cost too much and are too weak to warrant 200 mp this patch. Add in the fact that they can't faust without T1 anyway and half capping speed and they're basically worthless.
I think they would be more useful if they could cap at normal speed now that they cost 200 mp. The whole half capping speed made sense when they were 120 mp so you couldn't use them as zergling cappers. |
Cool reactionary reply - Just cos you can kill a unit doesn't mean its not OP. Im sorry but this tank has the speed of a panther, the armour of a tiger and the ability to wipe a retreating inf squad in a few seconds.
Who cares if your opponent can come up with ways to kill it. A single pz4 struggles to penetrate the armour let alone kill it - it can simply drive in and retreat out without fear.
There is no skill and no drawback to using it. People talk about brummbar but you need to tech for it and it no way is it an an effective infantry killer, its slow and cumbersome and reqiures smart micro to survive longer than a few minutes.
WIth high speed, high health, thick armour and completely ridiculous AI damage this thing is OP im sorry. Reduce at least one of those and it will start to be more balanced either that or a combination of some of those traits.
Even with half health and armour it would still be very useful, just no long be able to do lone tank rush that burns away half an army
The Tiger has more rear armor than the KV-8 has front armor, and the KV-8 moves slower than literally every tank the Germans have, except the Tiger non-blitzed and the Brumbar which it has equal speed to.
And German tanks/ AT infantry tend to have better penetration than Soviets overall. Add in the Stun abilities of German AT and teller mines, which overall makes the heavy armor easier to deal with for Germans than it is for Soviets to deal with heavy German armor. |
The entire point of the KV8 is to hard counter infantry builds. The only other tank Soviets have that can deal with diverse heavy infantry use is the IS2. |
I like the map for variety purpose. Forces people to play radically different than other maps. Close combat and short flanks are more important than long flanks like other maps. I think it highlights the importance of cover and fighting at different ranges in this current patch.
And like others said the atmosphere and visual style of this map is very cool. Only thing I would change is make some areas slightly more recognizable, right now the center of the map is pretty homogeneous, but all around I like it. |
IM CALLING IT NOW: LEND LEASE COMMANDER RELEASED SIMULTANEOUS WITH A LARGE VCOH PATCH
OR AT LEAST SOMETHING TO DO WITH A VCOH PATCH |
50 more fuel for soviet t3 and t4 seems expensive but who knows what else is being changed in the patch. Like all patches, we'll see soon enough how the balance is. |
They just need to decrease the DPS, make it a croc Sherman copy, with KV armor.
The high armor value has already making this unit very useful. Ridiculous DPS is not necessary.
If the KV8 did not have high dps you could easily faust it, then use pgrens at a distance to kill it. That would completely negate the KV8s main purpose as a T1-T2 hard counter.
Moreover, if it's dps was reduced it would be much less useful that the KV2 which has the same armor-hp and costs less and comes at a lower cp. If the KV8 was not the hard counter to infantry I would get a KV2 over it 10 times out of 10. |
