I blame the ineffectiveness of the Panther for the over-performance of Allied medium tanks. The double T-34/85 call in is too good. I would expect them to destroy infantry, Panzer IVs and StuGs, but not a dedicated anti tank end of tech tree tank. A well microed Panther should make short process with medium tanks. But even if you keep your frontal armor constantly at the enemy, the Panther will lose to two medium tanks - and that is bad.
Even if they upped the Panthers performance to the stats it had before the giant nerfs, it wouldn´t be op as all the Soviet tanks got buffs. Nerfing the Panther and buffing everything that it had to face was too much. Some of the changes should be reverted. Even if it got its former health back and a better rate of fire it would still be weaker than the old Panther as it still would face stronger tanks and cost a little fortune.
It would be nice if some Relic staff could comment on this. I´m sure by now they should have recognized the feedback on the Panther on all of the forums.
Still, even in such unfavorable positions for the Panther - both tanks facing their rear at each other - you would think a dedicated anti tank unit, costing 175 fuel and requiring high teching costs like the Panther, would at least beat a single T-34/85. Add to that, that the Panther barely deals damage versus infantry and shades in comparison with the AI capabilities of T-34/85 etc. its overall cost effectiveness as a unit is embarrassing.
This shows a major deficit in the Panther which is the rate of fire. It actually reloads as slow as an IS-2. High penetration values don´t help you, if the dps is lower than that of a Panzer IV, which most likely is going to penetrate a medium tank also.
The whole problem of the overpowered Easy Eight could be fixed with a cost-effective Panther.
Until then I don´t see much hope. Panzer IV, StuG etc. don´t stand their ground versus the Easy eight and even Paks can just scare it away. When multiple Easy Eights arrive (which they always do), the Paks will get swarmed.
It is like they want you to use Grens, Paks, Tigers only. Every patch that doesnt fix that, is insufficient. Not saying I dont like some of these changes, but to totally ignore the weakest faction in the game, with so many useless units...
If vet 2 (Rifle) company is in rotation without being fixed, I refuse to play axis in this period.
This shit break the balance even more than the initial Elite Doctrine.
This deserves more attention. I´m also not looking forward to the "vet on every rifle squad you will ever encounter"- week. Time to quit for 7 days as axis.
PIV shells bouncing off the ass of an ISU. That's what I'm concerned about..
6 consecutive deflections, failure to pen... 'Bounces' if you will, in a single game. From a vet 2 PIV.
So not fair.
I noticed that too. Soviet heavies are totally beefed up. I experienced two Panzer IVs just pinging shots at an unsupported IS-2s side/rear armor for what felt like half a minute. When the support arrived, the IS-2 was still standing and I wanted to finish it off. Result: Two Panzer IVs destroyed and an intact IS-2.
If that was a Tiger versus two T-34/85s, the Tiger - being shot in the side and rear- would have gone down within seconds.
How is an army designed around light tanks with a couple inferior medium tanks, supposed to stand up to an army based around excellent medium tanks and some heavy tanks?
The same way T-34/85s currently rip Panthers in parts from the front. Bullshit history wise but standard gameplay. Those light-medium Japanese tanks could be balanced accordingly.
