They have a balance team?? Will they start work soon?
I think the low player base means CoH2 is only *technically* not dead. On life support I'd say
Did you play this game when it came out? Balance was fuckin terrible.
Relic gives this game consistent large monthly patches that often deal with the largest issues as well as help minor balance issues. I have never seen another company patch their game as consistently or as often as COH2 and the only ones that come close are MMOs. Not to mention the huge gameplay overhuals during the march deployment and elbe day patches.
This game may have a few problems, but the balance team has been absolutely fantastic. Especially with the badly designed units and factions the design team often tends to try and implement into this game without regards to the big picture. I think anyone who says otherwise most likely has an over-inflated expectations that, to be honest, no developer can accomplish. |
Yeah the development team has always been really bad. Late game vs early game design, Tiger Ace, and the entire soviet tech tree. It's a good thing Relic has such a great balance team or this game would have been dead a year ago. |
Well as far as the bugs go, I would guess that it is from the consistant patching of other things like balance. I don't think relic has ever had a game where they have consistently added content and adjusted balance as much as COH2. With more consistent changing of code, bugs are more likely to appear at a higher rate.
To be honest I like it better this way. I can ignore the occasional bug, but larger more structural problems really bug me.
Edit: Pun not intended. |
pre WFA i would inderstand the whole "axis do more damage" argument. now i dont think that argument works anymore. jaigen is somewhat right, rifles with upgrades can have extremely high dps. paras with upgrades also have high dps. they both do over 25 dps at max range when they have lmgs. an lmg gren on the other hand is doing closer to 15.5. even an ober squad is only doing about 28. If you are going to start taking upgrades into account, what about upgraded grens or elite infantry like obers. You can't just compare fully upgraded squads with non-upgraded core infantry. On average axis units do more DPS when comparing equal costs. |
It wouldn't help on shells that score a "hit" on your tank as those will hit their target no matter what, but it does protect you a bit from shells using scatter as those will hit any cover or shot blockers in their way instead. |
Also if you tilt the camara you can see that units stop being rendered after a certain distance. If you could zoom out anymore you would see units dissapeer at the edges.
In other words it would make the game more demanding and add even more lag to do. |
HQ's can never be destroyed.
They stay at 1 hp and always can be repaired. While it is destroyed you can't use doctrine abilities except calling-in an engineer unit. Actually I don't think that's true for COH2. You can still use doctrine abilities with a destroyed HQ last time i checked. |
Also forgot one:
4. Riflemen AT grenades take a really long time to actually fire giving german tanks plenty of time to run through them and into range of a Jackson. |
1.You have tellers WITHOUT doctrine, from m20, what is a fine unit for scouting, can harass/kill the kübel - not AT inf. even unsupported OBERS, can cap points, and LAY down TELLER mines, you need use.
I said limited. M20s aren't exactly something you would buy to simply lay mines, especially later in the game when you need fuel. Unlike every other faction which has mines on their main builders which are cheap and are always used in every game.
2. BAzoo role dont fight for heavys, but excelent vs Pumas, kübels.
The truth is the US really needs more AT power from somewhere and the bazookas are hardly a deterrent to tanks at all. I think if the bazookas got a buff so they were usefull against tanks then they wouldn't have such a hard time in the late game. They are still terrible when compared to schreks.
3. Shermans for his price, are excelent meat shields, yes, dont have really high dps on a Panther frontal armor, but "meatshield" is not a unit, who can beat a panther... Shermans excellent with 640 hp, mobility, and long ranged triple smoke barrage for cover, protect Jacksons, and soak damage, make LOS. After vet1 Sherman gain more and more Line of sight too with Radio net...
I don't know what you think I was saying. I'm not saying that the sherman should get a buff or that it should beat a panther. I'm just pointing out the fact that as far as meatshields go it is a poor one. It's still better then nothing. |
My opinion is that the Jackson itself is fine itself, but the tools the US have to support it just aren't good enough.
1. US have very limited access to mines, and the light AT mines I think are a bit wonky at the moment, unreliable and hard to use (they remind me of pre-buff s-mines).
2. Bazookas aren't much of a threat to tanks and wont discourage multiple tanks or heavies from charging right through them at the jacksons.
3. Shermans are poor meat sheilds since they are almost as flimsy as the Jackson itself and won't last long enough to really protect the Jacksons or provide line of sight for as long as is often needed, plus without flanking they wont penetrate much of any tank themselves.
Overall I think the Jackson is fine in itself, but the US infantry AT and defensive AT aren't quite up to par it is really hard to keep them protected long enough to do damage to mass tanks or heavies, or really discourage the germans from charging straight at the jacksons themselves.
