I don't think soviets are an OP faction, but they are differently the best. Every other faction usually has a few exploitable weaknesses that they can't really do much about. Meanwhile there is a soviet build for any situation. But that's all because they have such a dependency on call-ins. Take their commanders away and they are easily the worst faction.
I would much rather see the other factions become as well rounded as the soviets then see the soviets become much weaker. |
She said it was about alpha news. Most likely to test out the new supply system. |
No, but if anything caches need to be nerfed all around. They are the main cause of things getting so out of hand as game modes get larger. |
The stock TD should be the 17 pounder achilles. It has M10 Wolverine HP/Armor, but with a better/longer range gun. The Sherman Firefly will be doctrinal; it has an identical gun, but armour/HP to match a regular USF Sherman.
The design of the faction should be a strong core of British units (maybe one or two LL things since they did use a shitload in the war) with the doctrines providing either foriegn units, or foreign equipment. So there coulud be a Canadian doctrine that provides some other commonwealth stuff, then there might be a doctrine that gives you a regular Sherman medium tank to skip a tier if you still want mediums. Stuff like that.
Other units I'd like to see, whether stock or doctrinal:
- Sexton Self Propelled Artillery (25 pounder)
- Valentine Tank
- Churchill Tank
- Cromwell Tank
Units that might be appropriate but might be too similar/overlapping:
- Challenger tank
- 95mm Centaur variant (SpART; possibly Brumbar-like) The achilles won't be the stock TD. It would be too much like USF and the jackson. |
All I want is an actual heavy tank counter. None of this Soviet mediocre dual purpose shit, or US mobile but lighter AT shit. Just a big ass AT gun that will make german players think twice about charging tigers straight into my front lines. |
I don't think that the Japanese army will ever come.
(I also think to remember that even Cynthia stated this but it could also just have been a dream lol.)
In the current case where a British faction is almost sure (just look at the helmets) the DAK would fit much much better. You know, Rommel vs Montgomery, desert fights, sandstorms... Cynthia just said that there are no current plans for it. Considering this faction isn't even announced yet. Relic likely doesn't have any plans on what faction will be next.
And no, I don't think a third german faction will be cool at all. Just like I didn't think the second one was cool or necessary in the slightest. |
Super stoked about the (almost certain) return of the British. I find it disappointing that Axis doesn't get another faction as well, though. I don't like the over-reliance on commanders to add new content, because generally you're only ever going to use a few of them, and most of the new content just goes completley unused. I'd much rather stuff gets added to the core armies. Every faction could use an extra unit or two in their roster if you ask me.
I'm still super sad about no Japanese. Grr. I know they could have found a way to make them work. Maybe I can have them once the mod tools are sufficient for that. Oh well.
I am overwhelmingly positive about the roadmap, though, despite my butthurt about Japan. God knows optimization improvements are needed. I have a GTX 780 and I still play the game on low just for a consistent framerate. There is no reason for that. I wouldn't give up on Japan just yet. I'm pretty sure relic will be adding another axis faction in another year or so to balance things out. And without the need to tie that faction to a theater and allied faction Japan could very well be that faction.
Looking at the OKW commanders it's pretty obvious relic really didn't have time to fill out their unit roster and relied a lot on reused units for wharmacht. I think they decided they couldn't handle making two at the same time and decided to focus on just one at a time. |
This thread only reinforces my conclusion that top level players opinions are no better then the average player. |
I loved them before and they were pretty good against ostheer T3 and OKW pumas, and this doctrine was pretty good before. Now I imagine it's a top doctrine for USF. I just imagine because I didn't play it after patch (how do I miss it?) but I can't wait to test the new M10s. The doctrines still pretty Meh. The armor call ins work now but neither is all that great and both just act as an alternative to M4s and Jackson. The artillery is niche only really good to deny your opponent an area, but is pretty RNG dependant on if you will actually hit anything even if they stay in the AoE. The biggest thing holding this doctrine back though is the advanced vehicle crew ability being pretty much useless which pretty much makes it feel like a doctrine with only 4 abilities. |
If you wanted Italy or Japan you would basically have to give them all of their prototype units that never saw mass production, and even then they would still struggle and would need major boost to stay competitive. Also they would have a very hard time creating doctrines for them.
As long as they have a semi-decent medium and medium TD (of which they have built) there is plenty of ways to build a faction to make up for lacking heavy vehicles such as snares, emplacements, and abilities. Vehicle stats can always be stretched a bit (just look at the penetration of the t34-85 vs the SU-85). It's not like they will be facing any King Tigers. And the US gets along just fine without heavies. |
