which script did you use? the newest experimental or the normal one? at which point exactly does it stop?
1000Experimental2 .... it has worked flawlessly for two nights. The times the script broke, I can't be sure of the cause. Maybe some sort of power saver or sleep function attempts to turn on and breaks the script? I have all that stuff disabled though, and having the game running should prevent sleeping or powersaving anyway. Strange. I find the script works flawlessly, for me at least, when I have another program running in the background, one that I know wont allow the computer to sleep or something, then I leave it running in the background and this has made everything stable through long afk periods.
In case anyone's curious: I let it idle from 12midnight-8am for two nights and loot 4 warspoils each night. No commanders, yet Only 1 warspoil per 90-120 min or so is horrible. No normal person can hope to loot commanders even if they played hard core every night of the week for 8 straight hours. It's a lottery that could take years.
This script is our only hope. |
I will allow that "wait 'til the patch comes out" is a valid point. But if you are using that point to counter all criticism about months of inactivity and lukewarm attitude towards the franchise fans, then it better be a super-great, descended from heaven, balls-flattening, goddamn awesome patch.
What if the patch does not address all the problems? What if it addresses only half of them and introduces countless new ones? Will all the people who were telling us to wait for the patch collectively eat crow? I don't think so. After a brief disappointment the go-to attitude will be "wait for the NEXT patch, this one will be good, I promise."
Quoted for truth. Once the patch is released the RELIC apologists excuse it away.
To all RELIC apologists: The 'bitching' and 'moaning' isn't always warranted, I grant you, but it is warranted now. In fact, with the treatment and attitude from RELIC, there's isn't ENOUGH bitching and moaning. If there was MORE moaning, if it was allowed to be freely expressed, if it was loud enough, we might actually get real change with the game. The official forums are moderated harshly. From day one no dissent or criticism was ever allowed. That's a poisonous attitude to have against your community.
Anyone who attempts to excuse RELIC's terrible mismanagement of both the game and community are fully discredited and definitely shouldn't be a MOD of a fan site that purports to look out for the interests of the community.
If the patch fails to be a ball draining mind fuck explosion of goodness, then RELIC should explain to us why and what the specific plans are for the future. And if they have no specific plans for the future--that's exactly what they should tell us. But at the very least, they should tell us. |
@OP We already have two threads like this running, and which can be added to .
@ forum members: any more new moan threads will be locked.
Shutting down dissent because 'there's too much' isn't the right way to go. If there's that much moaning, well, there's usually a legitimate reason and therefore it's warranted. If we wanted mour free speech throttled we'd go to the official forums where any and all dissension thread's become immediate 'non persons'.
Anyway... the fact that Relic is not promoting the March 31'st update at all is telling. And the fact that supposed patch testers have nothing to report (because honestly, NDA or no, word eventually leaks) tells me nothing of substance is coming in March 31'st patch. Hope that's wrong and we're blitzkrieged with new content. But if not... RELIC should answer the increasingly loud chorus honestly and openly.
|
Well... that's how it feels.
Recently returned from a long hiatus that began shortly after OKW/US were added to find nothing new was added since. No new commanders. No new maps (4v4 especially is really stagnant on SAME horrible maps). Nothing.
I think any honest observer will see that Relic has all but 'mothballed' COH2. There's zero proof of any resources or effort being dedicated into COH2. I know there's an upcoming 'March 31st' patch but what do we expect from that? Other than an assortment of bug fixes, realistically we will not see new content. And if that holds true... the question needs to be asked: why the hell not?
Frankly, it's a slap in the face.

Got it working: right click the script and choose 'Run as Administrator' to start.
Hopefully this info will help someone else, too.
Yes, the script can be running while multitasking with other things, just wait until after the engineers are sent to capture point and then alt/tab back/activate game window just before round ends so the script does its thing.
While idle/AFK, the script breaks after one game and I'm not sure why. I'll experiment more later but I leave the window 'activated' and then go afk, I came back to see the script hijacked my mouse cursor and I couldn't get it back--forced me into a hard restart. My computer doesn't hibernate or go to sleep when programs are running so that can't be the issue. My monitor DOES turn off after a certain time but I wouldn't think this to be an issue.
I'm glad this script was made. I've played for 100's of hours online and never looted any commanders and that shows you how abhorrent the current war spoils system is--that the community has to resort to farming scripts just to enjoy the game. |
Unable to get any of the scripts linked in this thread to work, what am I doing wrong?
As per instructions I set it up this way:
-Game resolution set as per in instructions
-Game running in windowed mode
-custom game against computer opponent (SOV, CPU Easy) is selected
-Map is Pepperridge Farm
-No mod, Strd Resources, Fixed location, 1000 Points
-All that is left to do is press "Start Game" but we aren't supposed to do that...
At this point: I then activate the script [double click script and accept 'run' (i get a prompt) I know it's running because i see it in task bar], then I quickly click on the windowed game (anywhere) to make sure it's 'active' ... and now I wait and do nothing else (not alt tabbing or anything) and wait for the script to take hold... but nothing happens.
Have I done everything correct up to this point?
I have tried downloading the other scrips, using different victory point conditions, still nothing. I even attempted to hover the cursor over the Start Game button to change its color, thinking that must be the problem. Then I tried clicking Start Game and then activating the script, when that didn't work, I tried starting an actual game then running the script, still, nothing. FYI: Language is in English, since that seemed to cause someone else a problem.
UPDATE: MADE PROGRESS... right clicked the script exe and selected 'Run As Administrator' and this got things working. The script started the game and sent engineers to point and has done nothing else (no other capping or building or enemy action).

I for one completely quit playing since the last patch--sounds like I'm not the only one. Balance is horrible. Meta is beyond stale--there is zero dynamism in gameplay. None.
It's ironic or sad, or both, that early beta had more dynamic gameplay than the current state. Every word spoken on this site and the official forum has done nothing to change things. It is all really a waste of time and effort.
To the defend-the-DEV's-at-all-cost fanboys: enjoy playing by yourselves... because soon you will be the only ones playing. Sooner than you think...
|
We've all given our absolute best points, formed articulate arguments both for and against SU-85 in it's current state. When a Dev does comment in these threads it's usually quite cryptic or sometimes nonsensical (doesn't directly address central question, says alot of 'nothing').
It's all beginning to feel like a rather pointless exercise and, I too, no longer care. I'm kind of "done" playing until there's big changes, the current meta/gameplay is just so unappealing I've almost no motivation or desire to play. |
I was a spectator of this very match (which was late last evening broadcast over Twitch) so I'll comment:
Snipers in scout cars, if macroed, can't be countered. This is fact and can't just be glossed over. I've had it happen to me many times. It is UNCOUNTERABLE and DEVASTATING to the ost player. The effect snowballs rapidly because early on you have so few unit, you bleed fast and you can't get in range of the scout car to faust no matter what you do or how many "meat shield" gren squads you may have. They bleed you to death.
You guys continued playing far beyond the point the game was "over" and should have surrendered much much earlier.
Soviet MG's aren't allowed to shoot out of scout cars for a reason, neither should Soviet snipers.
To RELIC DEV's: If you think this is NOT a problem, and you clearly do not, then play a match against someone like noobelite and his partner in a 2v2 who are pro at this strategy and show us how dumb we all are. Save the replay and show us all how "counterable" this is and we will all eat cake.
My guess is you wont take that challenge because you already know the outcome. Now fix it. |
I still feel T3 is extremely viable even if your opponent goes T4 and pushes out SU-85's.
"Even if".... sort of implies Soviets actually utilize a different strategy of fast SU-85 at least some of the time. I know you know this is not the case.
Wishful thinking isn't going to balance or create dynamic gameplay. Bold decisions need to be made with the next balance patch.
I'll say it again: Anyone doing the risk/reward math sees there's no reason to build T3 building in the current state. |
