No, Milka is right. It seems a lot of people in this community just want to get free shit quick and easy. Relic is a company. They HAVE to make money, they can't just give you people free shit.
You PAID for the DLC by buying the WFA, for some reason they just hide away the content with this War Spoils system so you get to use them in the future only if you are lucky. People just want to be able to use the content that they bought, not "free shit".
Unless you call Relic liars and say they planned to sell these commanders all along and not like they said only after people started to complain (which is not a too far fetched theory actually, but still). |
I don't like that they sell now the commanders that we technically already have paid for by buying WFA. Their model is fine for future commanders and an improvement to the old system where you could only buy commanders but not get them from playing, but not for the three commanders that came out with WFA. It would be better if they made those commanders available immediately after buying WFA, or unlockable by leveling like in the old system.
Now I feel nearly obligated to buy commanders that I already paid for because the War Spoil system cannot be relied on, however unless those commanders get offered VERY cheap I will have to resist on that.
I am currently more interested in how they make duplicates useful, because I have tons. |
Well ISG hits 99% of the time and if you have a Sturm officer nearby it will never stop shooting. It will shoot as fast as a zis shoots its barrages.
It really isn't that accurate from my experience. Maybe more accurate than Wehrmacht mortar, but that is hardly an accomplishment and after all it costs as much as two. |
So I had the two "Defensive Rush" bulletins equipped for nothing all the time? Sad. |
I was pretty sure that the timer does in fact reset. I had units not be able to throw the grenade all game long anymore, back then I wasn't sure though why it happened. Now while I was watching a replay I noticed that the cooldown on a unit was back at 120 seconds after leaving a combat when before that combat it was already nearly recharged. Then it wouldn't matter to me personally if the ability is cheap to use if I can only use it one time per unit and game.
But yeah, I guess I will just cycle my units more. Seems just a bit counterintuitive with all that "forward truck placement" stuff to reduce time you need to get back in fight. |
If you are not aware of the OKW Infiltration Tactics Grenade Assault ability, it is a commander ability that gives Volksgrenadiers and Obersoldaten a grenade ability that requires 120 seconds to recharge while not in combat.
The problem with it is that the 120 second timer gets reset to 120 second again if you get into combat in the middle of the recharging process. So unless you let your squads sit out the full 2 minutes out of combat in one piece (and any tiny thing may mean you are already in combat), you are never going to recharge the ability again.
2 minutes is quite long and I don't see people let their squads sit in base for that time just so they can throw one time their grenades, even if the ability is helpful in dealing with garrisoned units. In my opinion the recharge timer shouldn't be completely reset when you get "in combat" again but just be paused and continue where it was when you are out of combat again. Either that or the recharge duration should be reduced maybe. |
Panzerfüsiliers nearly never throw their grenades for me unless the whole squad is standing still before throwing, and even then it can take a while; other OKW squads seem more reliable for me but rarely a Volksgrenadier squad also takes its time. |
that video alone is enough for me to buy dow2
Good luck finding a game. If the game wasn't basically dead after Relic gave up support I might still play it. |
Don't forget that PGs damage drops down equally with each model lost, while Grenadiers have a huge part of their DPS on the LMG model, which just gets replaced by another model in the squad if he dies. So they can deal a lot of damage even with less models.
Of course you are usually not going to stand around for ages when your squad is nearly gone, but it can make a noticeable difference.
The same applies to American Riflemen with their weapon upgrades, or Obersoldaten with their LMG34, which gives them another edge over things like Fallschirmjägers. |
In a 1v1 it's much easier to knock out your opponent early on and capitalize on your victories quickly. 2v2's go longer on average, and very frequently reach late-game. In the late-game, the USF are at a huge disadvantage.
In even bigger games, 3on3 and 4on4, they can simply delete units and OKW trucks with their artillery while Russian tanks guard them. |
