what i personaly dont like is that they try to balance units now with that acc modifiers, that is all to rng based i have the feeling the should more work with the armor values afterall yes you can have high resistance by that modifier but if you have bad luck your squads can also die in a second because rng decided they get a lot of hits, with armor you atleast have a fixed value what a unit can take and that makes them reliable i mean just look at shocks they are reliable thanks to their 1,5 armor because you know what they can take, pgrens on the other hand sometimes they are extremely durable other times they fall in 2 seconds
and the next thing is, why no fix to US halftrack, M1919 and rifleman its no really fun playing ost 1vs1 atm, cause you mostly met americans and have more stress in the game then fun simply because you cant make mistakes or you lose while the US player can make mistakes
Armor is also RNG like received accuracy modifiers. More armor reduces the chance that a shot that hits you does damage to you, unless the armor is equal or lower to the penetration value of the weapon. Most small arms have 1.0 penetration if I remember right, and most units have 1.0 armor, so if they get hit by small arms they will always take damage. A unit with 1.5 armor will have a chance not to take damage from a shot that hit it, which has the same effect as not being hit at all.
The only differences between the armor and received accuracy modifiers on infantry is that received accuracy also applies to weapons that would penetrate you either way, like tanks and artillery, unless you had huge armor values. Since they wanted to make elite infantry less vulnerable to these sources they removed armor from most units and gave them that received accuracy modifier instead. |
I can understand how they want to nerf Obersoldaten a bit, but Fallschirmjäger? They already seemed to die and bleed rather quickly as it is for their massive cost, and struggle with the American infantry.
God knows what the Veterancy changes mean (what cost adjustments, there were none for those units since release). |
There are so many things that are not close to reality in this game, we just have to accept that Relic makes their own adjustments.
For example, the StuG III G should probably be harder to destroy than a P4, yet in the game it dies a lot easier.
Or as an extreme example, American Anti-tank rifle grenades penetrating a King Tigers front armor without any problems in the game (although this is complete bullshit even for gameplay reasons in my opinion). |
Agree, Pak43 could need a buff. |
Even the Werfer and Kat have to make do with scatter. Both of them take longer for all of their rockets to impact- especially the Kat. You can't use them to draw a line through your opponent's retreating units.
For what it's worth, next time I'm at crossing in the woods I'll grab a replay of retreat path Stukas for you. Vet 4 is what they usually end at- sadly, yet to see a vet 5.
Vet4? I got like nearly 100 kills in my best game with Stuka if I remember correctly, and it still was far away from reaching Vet4. I would like to see such a replay. |
The Panther would feel better if it was not so inaccurate combined with a horribly low attack speed. If it misses one time too often you can already forget the fight.
Anyway, regarding the role of the Panther in OKW army. The Puma is great against light vehicles and can even help against medium tanks when it is not on its own, but you have to be very careful with it and without veterancy it is not very reliable at damaging tanks, unless you can get into the rear.
The Panther can take at least a few shots and is usually a bit more reliable against bigger tanks than the Puma (although as I said it could be better).
Now the Jagdpanzer can actually do the same, maybe even better to some degree. However it has a few weaknesses; first, it is more vulnerable if it gets flanked, second it has trouble on maps with a lot of obstacles where your enemy might be around corners etc., third it actually has problems to fight really big Soviet tanks head on. While it can do fine against an IS-2 by just staying out of range, it does not do very well against SU-85s and ISU-152s.
The Panther may do better in some of these scenarios, although as I agree it could perform better as well. In situations where the Panther doesn't suffice anymore, especially in team games, you probably have then the King Tiger or Jagdtiger, but those things have such restrictive costs that they are also mostly only seen in team games anyway. |
I don't know about your experiences, but I sometimes keep shooting for ages on enemy setup teams and barely kill anyone with these guns. I like to use them against blobs or if I have to against those American bunkers, but against Maxim spam etc. they are at best average.
And don't forget that thing costs as much as two mortars nearly, so it has to be better than one. It also has more problems with obstacles than a mortar. |
I played OKW exclusively since WFA came out. Most of my bulletins besides two I got are for OKW, my only commander I got as well, so I assume it favours your most played faction somewhat. However, all skins (3 I think) are for Soviets and my only victory strike is for Ostheer.
But worry not, at least you can use faceplates for every faction! Maybe that is why we get them double and triple times! |
This game is full of madness. It lasts like an hour, it looks really grim for the German side nearly the whole game but we fought our way to stay in the game as long as possible, and we still manage to make things very close to the end.
Both sides had catastrophic casualty rates, there are explosions without an end all over the map, endless tank formations and desperate infantry waves fighting for every meter ground.
Surely some losses could have been avoided, but I think in such a game it is hard to keep track of everything all the time. And if someone loses some precious, valuable weapons, someone else stands ready to pick it up and continue the battle. |
I think the Jagdpanzer is doing fine against T34s from my experience. You have to use Panzerschrecks etc. to cover your back if you go into a position where your Jagdpanzer can be flanked. If you use it defensively and just drive backwards while fighting, the enemy cannot flank it that easily though usually.
Good mines can also win you games; if you damage the engine on one tank your Jagdpanzer should have no problems to destroy it. But good mine placement is difficult and not always do you have munition left.
Jagdpanzer also has good armor from what I know, it is not "the same amount of armor".
What you have to be careful about is the Mark Vehicle commander ability which in my opinion is a silly ability, and obviously Guards Rifle buttoning your vehicle (which is another reason to use the Jagdpanzer defensively and only move it in if you are sure that you can risk it to finish a vehicle off). |
