Is it possible that some bulletin causes the Comet to overperform? We had this before with other units (formula for calculating damage was wrong). Even though I have to admit that the video above clearly shows Panther as the winner, I often see the Comet winning in "real" matches.

While I do agree with vindicatex, I also believe that there are plenty of players outside the top 20 with a great understanding of the game.
When it comes to the top echelon of the leaderboards, micro is usually the most important component. Having a solid knowledge of game mechanics and theory can get you to top 150-200.
While players below level 20 are important, you are needlessly constricting yourself from other important opinions if you don't also take into account other knowledge able players, IMO.
I absolutely agree. Dictators be it through a person or a party argue in the same manner as the "pro top 20" faction: "Don't take the burden to think for yourself, give up your rights and freedom, I (or we) know it best."
The top players should be heard as consultants, but the rest of us should be heard as well. |
High level play tournaments is a big place to analyze this
Don't get me wrong but I think in order to have a fair tournament that is really fun to play and to watch, the game should be balanced prior to it. |
I read many good posts in this thread describing the issues with balancing in general (i.e. snowballing) and in specific for COH2 (OP Rifles vs Grens etc.). What is the solution or in a more broader context: What is the process to tackle the issues?
My proposal:
I suggest a balance tournament or a balance week in which Relic dedicates its balance team to playing COH2 with the community in order to systematically generate replays for analysing balance issues and to identify solutions for how to fix them. |
To place more mines and damage tanks' engines? I can understand your preference, but there's not zero reason to use Falls. You might still feel the actual practical implementation of the distinctions misses the mark, but I'd still say the concept exists. (ALSO, REDUCE HMG34'S VET REQUIREMENTS)
But why Luftwaffe? Scavenge Doctrine also provides some solid anti inf that saves you ammunition to place mines. The charme of Luftwaffe was that it enabled you to skip a tier and allow for a different gameplay. After the overhaul, that particular difference in gameplay is not provided anymore. |
No need to buy an upgrade, stealth, better CQC DPS, Panzerfausts?
Obers are more robust and after their upgrade, they can handle any infantry. They supress infantry with Vet 4. What else do you want?
Going for Luftwaffe is giving too much redundancy. |
Your comment about being forced into the same build is an issue with every faction at the moment apart from Pr0steer who have a few competent build orders. IMO the JP4 is the best medium TD in the game. It out classes SU85, Jackson, SU76. It's fine where it is. You can still go T4 and get Falls.
Yes, you can go T4 and get Fallis, but what is the advantage? Obers can do the same job. I would rather go Elite Armored Doctrine or Fortifications Doctrine in order to support my T4 build with armor piercing rounds or PAK43. |
Guys,
my point is pretty straigt forward. Since Jagdpanzer IV went to OKW T4, a player is forced to build T4 in order to get a tank with which one can fight Allied medium or heavy tanks reliably.
As a consequence, an OKW player has always access to Obers. Why picking Luftwaffe Commander anymore?
The charme about Luftwaffe Commander before the overhaul was, that one could skip T4 and replace Obers with Fallis and use Jagdpanzer IV from the Medtruck. Right now, I just don't see a reason why to go for Luftwaffe anymore. This is pretty sad in my opinion because I liked having the option for multiple build orders. Right now, I have the feeling that the build order is pretty much pre-determined.
My solution proposal: Move Jagdpanzer IV to OKW T3 (Mechanized Regiment HQ). Since it is only good at shooting tanks, I don't expect a major impact on infantry battles. For tank battles however, the problem is that Allied light tanks will be doomed then because this tank will enter the field pretty early. On the other hand, if an OKW player plays this way, the Allied player can easily overun him with infantry because an OKW T4 will be very late (if at all). As OKW player, I would counter with Luftwaffe of course. That would even out things so that I don't expect many problems.
What do you think?

I mostly play 1vs1 and I don't think that a Puma comes too early because it is the only thing that helps vs ami AA HT, Greyhound and M3 with flamers (when it is good managed it can easily outmaneuver raketenwerfer). With a RAK, you can maybe scare them away but with a Puma you can actually kill them.
1vs1 is usually about CALLins. In your fuel calculation, you should not forget that Allies have solid CALLins, while OKW has nothing (Elite Armor doesn't come out of the box and you need to spend 210 fuel on them). The Puma is the only thing that keeps you alive in 1vs1 until you save fuel for heavier armor.
As Soviet, who techs to t3 when he/she can go T34 CALLin. As US Force, you usually go to Easy 8 which is an absolute allrounder. |
jesulin can still win as playing axis so i don't see the problem. MVGame. Btw smins on retreat path kills a almost full squad every time!
True that. But I think that certain Soviet builds are truely hard to counter (Cons, Sniper, Guards). Besides that, I assume you refer to the replay between Siberian and Jesulin. We don't know how that match would have ended if Siberian did not base rush with his KV8. |
