I like how the soviet prefrenced players will insult someone who doesn't agree that the soviets need to be stronger and have more options because reason x... and think they are still on the moral high ground..oh the irony |
plus im going to say it ...coldtech sucks, its a brilliant idea, but it's not fun to play on. Maybe on a map were you have to move your forces across large swaths of territory but fighting in a closet where you are never more than 30 secs away from the other side is more tedious than anything. Leave it in if they must but turn the frequency down, once or twice a game is more than enough. |
" Fire Up! are discouraged, since they instantly broke the kill zone mechanic. Don't make that mistake again. "
Nice post.I agree mostly
But one issue i Have is in coh fire up was needed because vet 3 tanks had mg42s and in coh you were not running up or operating infantry at all in front of mg42s, tank mounted or crewed. They nerfed mg42s on tanks into oblivion but the crew served mg42 was still a beast if you were in front of it so I think fire up in that instance was needed. |
There is no right way anymore. Dlc or not people are going to complain about op or up. On one hand if you introduce boring commanders which are "balanced" people are not going to buy them anyway. The core game without commanders is dead boring and if new commanders aren't spicing things up the player base is going to stay on its declining path anyway. My dream is bringing back coh online style commanders which were insanely customizable. There were so many insanely op things in that game but was still massively fun due to so many options you could use to counter.
The only thing that got me back playing again was the crazy tiger ace and possible upcoming sturmtruppen. There are many people waiting on the sidelines to jump back in when and if things get interesting. I believe we need more op things that make the game fun and let the meta balance itself out. |
It does looks kinda funny when a horde of soviet soldiers are shooting at a P4 and none of them seem to be able to hit the guy sticking out of the turret.
or a tank cannon a mg42 turret and a coaxial shooting at infantry while they just run up to the tank, throw a grenade, then turn around and run away across a open road and lose no men. |
ok well if you want to remove the top gunner make the main gun not miss when infantry is freaking 3 feet away from the tanks crawling around,
but seriously you want a nerf to the stug ...really this forums needs to be shutdown this is qqing out of control |
As said plenty of times, the loss of resources doesn't justify the FREE God-mode Tiger, as it usually appears when german player realizes that the game is lost.
Is not usually indestructible because sometimes the german player is too screwed to save the day even with the Ace Tiger.
The only way I'll accept Tiger Ace is if it'd have a HUGE popcap, like 40 or 50.
Even with that it will be hard to balance in team games where is too easy to support the Tiger Ace and destroy everything your rivals can send.
When i first started using the tiger ace it brought me back from the dead or finished my opponents off. Now they just mine and at nade and flank till engine is dead then stay away from it and kill all my inf and cap. I stopped using it because most people are seeing past the oh mygod wtf kill machine and just focus on what they need to do to win.
The tiger ace is the most expensive tank in the history of the coh series because it costs infinite manpower and infinite fuel and infinite munitions. Not sure if you tried it yet but it is painful when using it trying to cap and decap points with 1 man squads and such

pioneer flamer aint even worth it, you cant reliably take out a garrisoned unit( or do any damge to a unit in open) before taking significant damage or losing the squad or the flamethrower entity. Pioneer flamer is another useless german ability like hull down |
the buying vet individually thing is a waste early in the game, trying to vet your army through fuel and mp is expensive and leaves you massively behind in tech and units. With the exception of vet pgs or a tank for the purpose of blitzing an su, using it other than sparingly gives you few units with pretty stars at the cost of battlefield presence. At the end of the game that changes,if your floating resources anyway may as well vet, but early game I haven't found it useful as everyone is claiming |
The previous game had proper defenses(tank traps wire, affordable mines both sides) and mgs were viable so there was no running face on at an mg. You could put mg in building and lockdown a spot which gave you breathing room. Plus there were not a lot of wtf kill machines in t1 and t2 which made the early game inf battles more strategic and satisfying. It was easier to fight hard for territory then hold and push from there so maps didn't feel like an expansive moonscape you had to run back and forth across.
The game didn't get full on till t3 but every tier had units that dealt with inf or tanks reliable so it was possible (but more difficult)you could stay in t2 all game.PLus the commander doctrines were more versatile and most doctrines were almost a tier in itself as you could rely on the units and abilities to counter the opponents t4. Coh2 lost all of that. It feels about always having hard counters vs x unit. You didnt need flamers or grenades or mortars to take out garrisoned units. They were more effective but you could just use overwhelming inf in green cover a sniper even.
Now it's all about rushing to your wtf kill machine as fast as possible.
The pop cap system and fuel or munition only system made fighting over points more meaningful. I dont feel like im capping things of much importance in this new system because it seems more to matter that you have points as opposed to what points you have.
The whole dynamic of coh2 just seems off, i agree, but if you think the weak sauce mg42 coh2 has is too strong im sure you would hate the heat of the vanilla one as it would pin your whole army if it is facing your way. Bar the brits and fire up that is. |
