All I am saying is it was 1 unit in particular that players went too ALL THE TIME, why, because its OP. Yes both players got to play Russians twice and then it was VP thing to decide 5th game, but did it ever cross Aimstrongs mind to go German, I dont think so and that in itself poses a question of balance. If both sides were even then the German side may have been an option but ALAS it was not to be.
Running a Tournament with Fundamentally one side being at a disadvantage and just making it about who loses the 'best' as Germans doesn't really equate to good game play. Defend it all you like but this is absolute fact. I am not American but I will give you an example from a real life perspective lets say the NFL Superbowl was best of 5 with only 1 quaterback available he plays 2 games for each side then 1 for the team who 'loses' the best. You see the problem here. |
I know this, I think its just crazy to have a Tournament worth decent money for a just released game where the balance is far less than perfect so soon. I hope the Tournament helps to draw a strong competitive community but without ladders and win/loss stats and a sense of competition the game will die a quick death so I hope they release them soon. |
1st PG squad must be Shreks ASAP and a pak if you expect t3. |
Yes player base was 21000, which is good, especially for an RTS but the question is will it maintain it? Given the easy digital distribution method of Steam it is convenient for people to pick up COH2, even those who have not played it b4 but will they stay? I am going to say NO, well not likely. Without a ladder or custom game lobby and easy to find annihilate games (not that I played many of these)the player base will drop off rapidly as there were a lot of these players in COH1. The loss of the feeling of achievement or of completion/getting better without the win/loss stats, ranks and ladder will mean even the competitive base of players will leave quickly and I am guessing the numbers will be around 5000 when it settles by the end of July. I hope this doesnt happen but I have my doubts. |
"Spoiler Alert"
So if I am watching this correctly, The live cast shows all 5 games and surprise, surprise Russians win ALL 5 games and at least 1 Scout Car from the players in each game. I am astounded they have not fixed this crap yet. Ahwell guess we know who is OP in 1v1, not that we didnt know anyway. GG guys with the units or should I say unit you had available. WD Aimstrong. |
I may just be blind but has anyone got a link to the 5 games from the Tournament final between Sepha and Aimstrong? |
Moscow Outskirts - Summer - Quarter Finals
I have watched the available replays (3 of the matches) for the Quarter finals of the TFN tournament. A total of 7 games. Results stand at Russians 5 wins, Germans 2 wins. 5-2 not too bad however in the 2 games the Germans won it took them a lot longer to do so and in those 2 games the Russian players DID NOT build any scout cars. In the games the Russian won they built 1,2 or 3 (in Sepha's case) scout cars and abuse flames/Guards. Even players of this standard are finding it extremely difficult to counter early SC rushes. I fear the $1000 dollars may go to a person who abuses the most OP unit in the game. Just my 2 cents.

"I'm not trying to "solve" sniper + scout car, I'm just trying to make it more punishing if the opponent makes a mistake with it. Right now going sniper scout car will lose you a lot of map control early (especially if your opponent goes triple pio). Then after the sniper is out, you need about 15 kills to make it worth the cost assuming you don't kill any squads. That's okay. Germans can definitely go T2 and upgun a scout car to deal with it, and Russians deserve to get some impact out of their tech choice." - Adder
What you are saying is ok for 1v1 because yes map control is an issue but against good 2v2 teams who keep a conscript with AT nades (my partner and I always do) near the SC the German AC cant get close. The strat is very OP and the car needs a nerf not a health buff, you just shouldnt be able to shoot out of it, it should be a 'scout' car with maybe a gun upgrade for itself not a 'bren' wagon with a gun and transport ability. |
I feel that if the Maxim gets a nerf it should be moved to tier 1 and the SC to tier 2, that way snipers in SC's cant happen unless both buildings are built. This would also address the issue of Germans HAVING to go t2 to counter a t1 unit and stop a t1 unit from giving the Russian player absolute dominance for a few minute period. This may also lead to some old school heavy t1 battles with 4 or so conscripts and a MG vs 4 or so Grens and a MG, much more entertaining than chasing a car around. |
I dont think this solves the issue of Sniper in Scout cars because players who know what they are doing stay at max range and never even get close to Grens and adding 25% health that makes them even harder to kill.
Maxim also need a packup time
Russian AT also reduced to 4 men
I disagree on Molotov change they are already useless as they are SO easy to dodge.
German tank vet is fine as is IMO.
Stugs are fine as is, if the fuel cost was lower they could be spammed and make T34 even worse than it is now, if thats possible.
The P4 However given its current state needs a 20 fuel increase and the SU85 could do with the same.
The rest though doesnt look to bad.
