I love how it always comes back to 1v1. I specifically said I dont really have an issue with it 1v1, it is in team games 2v2 and up where the problem is compounded. You cant flank them when the opponents use supporting inf (the other player) and they are half co-ordinated. It just feels so cheesy. We face it ALL THE TIME in 2v2 and its a massive struggle to get ahead as axis but change to Allies and spam them with my US team mate supporting with mass rifles and its just so much easier. There is a big problem here and it really does need to be addressed ASAP.
I mean, when you see the same thing 9/10 games then I think that is saying the build is a tad too effective and really needs to be looked at. |
Ok, I know there are alot of you out there that think the Maxim is ok right now, which I agree with in a 1v1 sense. It is in team games (2v2 and higher) however that the Maxim becomes almost unstoppable. I am not the worlds greatest player but nor am I the worst it just pains me to play 2v2at with my mate at the moment as Axis as every game we face Maxim spam done by half competent players and it is nigh unbeatable.
3 Maxims into a Zis into 2 more Maxims and with the support of the team mate it becomes impossible to flank properly. Yes you will say get a HT as Wehr or Mortar or Infantry Support Gun (430MP) but they kill far to slow in comparison to how fast maxims can be spammed out. At 6 crew these things are impossible to kill properly and their reinforcement cost is a joke. Please I emplore you Relic to fix this 1 unit, either by Upping the MP cost to around 360 and a reinforce cost of 30 or better yet lower them to 4 men and decrease the supression rate to that of the MG42 (at least 3 burts it seems.) Another problem with this build is the lack of manpower drain so it is quite easy to get a fuel OP or 2 up and before you know it here come the t34's when you are still trying to counter the maxims let alone tanks....
Before you say Axis fanboy, I am not I play mainly Allies and infact the last 5 games my AT partner and I have decided to adhere to the old addage if you cant beat em join em so we have. 5 games as Allies, 5 games of Maxim spam, 5 wins. This may not be that big of a problem with higher level of players but for the majority mid tier players this unit is a massive blight to the game that needs addressing ASAP. Change the ability to get rid of the active timer and instead replace it with a small AOE effect, (the same as a grenade) then it can insta suppress any 1 (2 if blobbed together) squad(s). Make it have a timer (say 30 secs) between uses and you are good to go, ability fixed. The 20 munitions cost is fine if used like this. |
Often the problem lies with ISP (Telstra in particular) having blocks on people connecting to you. Try opening ports or calling ISP technical support to do it for you.
I had couple of friends who had Firewall set to 'don't allow anything', internet protection settings on highest and Norton antivirus blocking everything.
It only allows text to be displayed on web pages pretty much, and they were wondering why they have connection issues as well.
Usually the problem is with users settings

Yeah mate its not a problem for me really, yes my downloads are slow but my connection is fairly stable. COH2 runs fine I am just backing up the argument that Australian internet sucks and is only going to get worse under the current government. They will expect everyone to go Satelite so they don't have to spend more money on optical-fibre. Problem is though, sure D/L speeds are great but just one interruption for just a couple of seconds and bang dropped from the game you were playing. Ah well what can we do the country is just too big for the amount of people living here. Could write a thesis on this and get a doctorate on how crap Aussie internet is. |
Yep I am in Australia too, out in the bush. I don't know if I can even call me net dial-up that would imply a dial tone, mine is more like two tin cans with some string in between. Games running pretty good now though TBH but I have a mate having Relic connection issues if anyone knows of a quick resolution it would be appreciated. |
I am at 11/15 need 4 more. I got a few early when I was learning how to play Russians (I still am) but it is far more likely to get it in a 4v4 than anything else as you can even try to milk it if you have a good team. I only play 2v2's now so yeah its basically impossible. |

Agreed, keep it up we need action not meaningless words. I post mainly negative comments about the game but I like to consider them 'constructive' criticism. There are a lot of these types of posts on this website, GR and in particular the Steam forums. Judging by the feedback 90% of the player base cant be wrong so listen and act please Relic ASAP (by this I mean yesterday). |
Lol, been there done that, what a joke. If you get a flank on an MG (both sides) and they don't retreat it then it should die. 1 min 30 to force a retreat. In the context of the game and how fast the teching pace is that's ALONG time and destroys game immersion big time. FFS increase small arms fire already and force the MG guys to use cover, unbelievable. |
Well that is why I still buy a lot of my games on disc in Australia, not only is our internet shit but there is a consumer return law in Australia that states you can return ANY product 'if it is not fit for the purpose it was purchased for' which includes a video game not being 'fun' as that was the purpose when I bought it (and yes I have pulled this card at EB or wherever at least 5-6 times and got my money back each time, a couple of times I had to get them to ring the ombudsman or consumer fair trading but it works). This doesn't apply to Steam games purchased through Steam itself however as digital sales are not covered. With regards to your skirmish problem will COH run in Steam offline mode, it should. If so just do that and start a custom game vs the AI. |
