Like Katilof said, for all those people who want realism. It's been attempted before with the panthers having 1240 HP, 400 armor and 60 range and Windustry. It's an RTS. Not a World War 2 simulator.
I'm sure the changes with the IS-2 and the ISU would be appreciated for both sides. No one likes getting squad wiped and no one likes seeing their tank shells bounce. The T-34 76 at this point in the meta is useless thanks to the call ins. Hell from the start it's always been useless when it came to AT, which is why RAM was there in the first place. I think we can all agree that we rather see a buff in the t34 and make ram a vet ability.
As for Blitz, are people really getting angry that it's getting nerfed? A simple solution to nerf it is to slower the acceleration or make simply make it only drive fast if it's driving foward, if it's going reverse then it wont recieve the speed boost.
I feel like these tanks buffs are in place because OKW will have very overpowered tanks. My god they better have an option just to allow to play vanilla faction in 1s because the balance will be ruined.
For those who think there is hope at this point...
In a way, I sort of like the price reduction but I don't think that's a great solution. Their damage profile needs to be radically changed. At medium range, their dps significantly drops. That needs to be fixed.
The reason being is that they made conscripts to do damage at close range and while it seems great in theory. It just poorly fails in action. Terminator Pioneers beat conscripts at close range. Most of the engagements between Grens and Scripts start off at long to mid range. So running to cover to cover towards grens just makes you lose extra men and by the time you get close enough to use their full dps at close range, they're screwed already since they lost their extra men.
Why would I get conscripts when I can spend 30 more manpower for a penal squad, which performs significantly better at close range. It's just making conscripts an useless unit. They need their damage profiles fixed, make them great at medium range. We already got Penals and Shocks for close damage.
People are advocating for grens and scripts to be 100 percent equal when it comes to engagements but that would make things bad as well. It would make battles win through RNG instead of using the units correctly. Coh1 had it right where volks needed to stay at long range to win or use the motorcycle if they were in a close range situation to beat riflemen. If it were judged by RNG, well the game would be boring, and a lot of people would rage.
TLDR: Price change isn't good enough, if they want to stay relevant as a unit, they need their Medium range DPS adjusted to compete against grens and remain 240mp.
Now which coh2 mission does it show German soldiers as saints? The guy raising his up begging for mercy or the guys running away getting their backs shot at?
I can't agree with some of the things you said after that as well.
Like I said, soldiers who attempted to surrender got shot like that in all nations. Honestly Jin, besides invading the country, what bad did things did the Germans do in the campaign.
With all this is effect, were talking about the pink elephant here. Relic over did the campaign, they were literally beating the dead horse. They focused purely on bad things rather then the high amount of badasses in the war.
Yes it may or may not have existed but they really over did it to the point that it made the game just too cheesy and not enjoyable. Literally every mission was just soviets doing bad things and made the Germans like saints. Yes, not all troops were awful people but they shouldn't stereotyped all soviet or Germans soldiers that way.
By all means the game-play was great but the story was weak. If relic really wanted to make a great campaign and express the issues of the soviet union and show the heroism. They should've made the main character the commander and let Isakovich be a side character. In movies, books, or tv shows sometimes we root for people who do awful things such as Walter White, Artemis, Francis Underwood, Tony Soprano, and hell even the Nazis in the movie Downfall. If it was from his point of view, it would've gave a reason why the soviets did the things they did, how they honestly felt about, and see if it was worth it.
As for other nations being evil and the Soviets were just as bad as the Nazis. It's true to an extent. Hitler was the man who started the war. The nazis were the ones who marched east and went to the homes of Soviets and took a giant piss on them. Eventually murder races, not just jews. Of course the Soviet Soldiers did awful acts to Germans. They wanted revenge for the suffering they caused to their country. For the Russian members here, they did these things to Germans. There is no denying it. There is overwhelming evidence, but they had their reasons.
As for America and Churchill, name a single war where citizens weren't killed? Am I saying they were the white knights of the war. Hell no. They wanted to end the war just as fast as they can and limit the amount of civilian casualties. Were Americans and Brittish complete madmen who were known for going into cities, taking civilians and putting them to into death camps or killing people because of skin color. There may be a few but no where near as the Nazis and Soviets. Welcome to war, it's awful.
Also every country shot surrendering soldiers. The Soviets did it out of revenge and SS troops did it because they never understood the concept of surrendering or thought it was a pathetic thing to do.
In other words, war is awful, and brings the worst out of people. No matter what nation. People will sacrifice good things to end it as fast as possible.
my problem wasn't so much the story though it might have been better to stay away from politics from a marketibility standpoint. i like the concept of the story but i feel it was also very poorly executed. the biggest problem was that the game play didn't hold me i played 2 or 3 missions the gameplay/misson design was not good to awful imo.
Panthers are no where as bad as they used to be. Back during the alpha and beta days, that crap had the hp as a tiger.
When not at vet 2, they arent hard at all to kill. Seriously, 2 su85s will do the job. Hell even one properly placed SU85 can kill a panther if you have mark target.
