Yes, that is if you fight a gren squad vs a tank...
In a 1v1 between two units one will always come out ahead. That's why you don't send troops alone and was my whole point. A faust usually causes "engine damaged", "engine damged" == no ram.
An unsoported tank ofc will get a ram in it's face and german players will cry because "ram is so op", while they just fail to do what they always tell the russian players, that are ranting about german armor:
Don't send your troops alone and use combined forces. |
I'm a coder. This website you're using? Yeah I helped code it.
Changing a hotkey from "T" to "R" or a custom key picked by the user couldn't be easier, no matter how you slice it. But thx for portraying me to be some kinda coder n00b!
It is? Really?
Changing a hotekey in code is easy, yes, because if you don't have them customizable you basically can "hard-code" the key.
As soon as you have customizable keys you have to save a file, check what is saved, give the right parameters to the right listener, have to account for dublicated or overlapping keys, have to write an interface, account for the DAU, test all that stuff (ofc)etc.
while it is not rocket science, it still is work and time they probably rather put into something else.
And, pls, while i know coding a website can be a pain in the ass at times, it is noway near the same as coding a game |
This thread is basically the "i am human, i hate change"-thread.
You will see it in every sequal to a game that changes things.
For some reason people hate changes. |
I don't get it.
On the one side you say it is completly fine that a tank (panther) can destroy way more than he costs easily and Russians just need to have a bunch (like a lot) of AT to defeat it.
While on the other side you complain about ram on T34 beeing to OP...
Maybe stop sending your tanks without support? I mean, a simple faust usually stops ram.
The only sense i can get out of this, is that people complaining probably are "german only" players.
While i agree that ram should get a cost of some sort, people that want it to be vet or doctrinal or not beeing able to destroy maingun, are just ridiculous. |
well... easy to code when you think of it when you start coding :-P
like with most features:
even when you don't plan on implementing it right away, if you got it on your "To Do-List", you will code the rest of the game accordingly. If you don't, that might make it a helluva lot harder to implement it later on.
This.
Beeing a software-developer myself i could laugh all the time people throw out a "that has to be easy to code" statement, because they clearly don't know how much of an issue new features can be, depending on if you had them in mind or not.
Changing the UI is probably pretty easy for them (because exchanging visuals is not that big of a deal), but changing it so everyone can have their own interface can be a real pain if it wasn't planned to be that way. |
Ostheer and Sov tier "ratings" are not comparable directly.
I know that. Still it takes way more time to get to t4 than to get to t3 for germans.
In a balanced game, ofc. If you just skip 2 tiers to get a su85, okay, quite fast SU85 then (fuel might be an issue)
But if you want to push the small early advantage you have as russian, you can't really do that. |
Well, that you need to do that in VCOH is no reason to keep it.
That just shows that VCOH had the same balance mistake.
Investing more to take down something than the thing costs is a failure in game design.
Yes SU85 are half decent, but you need T4 to defeat Panzer IV, because in T3 there is nothing that can keep up with them.
And the AT guns are quite weak because they seem to have to low piercing for German armor.
People always say "combined arms work against Tanks" but always ignore the fact that germans will also have combined arms. |
1. Russian don't have Fausts, but i agree, the homing At nades (and Fausts of Germans) should not exist.
2. Clown cars are T1 not T0.
3. Have you ever tried to play against German Armor without ram? Much more annoying than ram.
Sniper balance is quite difficult, but you are not supposed to use a sniper to counter snipers in CoH2.
the Russian Sniper has 2 man squads but lower stats (fire-rate and accuracy) than german one.
guards button ability is the same as for the ram. It's already hard to fight german tanks as russian, so restricting Guards even more is not a good idea (seeing as they also are doctrinal units and not effective against infantry) |
Overall, I find Soviet floats munitions like mad.
Abilities and upgrades are cheap, some, like SU76 Barrage, are even free.
Munition cost on Ram would go a long way to hitting two birds with one stone in this regard.
And that's something everyone should be able to agree with.
But removing the ram, is just no option atm (if they don't change anything about German Armor).
I mean, how fast do you get engine damaged anyway, and you can't execute a ram with engine damaged. |
The only reaosn why I mentioned removing the cpa ability was because I haven't seen many untis with 2 vet abilities, so if I was suggesting ram as a vet ability, then something had to be done (its still a stupid ability imho though).
The Ram mechanic could work, but like it has been stated over and over again, it is too damn cost effective. There is literally very little reason not to ram an enemy tank, right now.
The argument that keeps popping up is: "if you nerf Ram, then the russians have no AT!!!" Buff the other AT options. Buff the other AT options, buff the other AT options. Like in the original CoH, you are not supposed to go toe-to-toe with Axis armor.
yeah, sure.
Not going toe-to-toe is okay, but it takes a whole combined effort for russians to take out 1 tank. While germans can use these tanks to deal with russian armor or just use shreks. Russians have no cost effictive way to counter tanks (except for ram).
russians have a worse AT gun than germans.
The only half decent option is the SU85.
The imbalance lategame has to be countered somehow (or rebalanced). Especially since the early game advantage of russians is not as big as some people may make it seem.
